But with his sorry financial condition, he may not be able to maintain them. He's running out of cash. And there's also talk in the Inspector General's Office and within the United States Treasury Department themselves (enforced by both the Justice Department and the Internal Revenue Service) to pull the tax-exempt status from them. He'd be paying taxes on all of them. States, if they aren't doing so already, would then become involved because they feel that he should be charging the patrons who use his golf courses. Those user-fees would become a source of sales and use tax. The golf courses would need to charge and collect sales tax. States would want their share of sales/use tax revenue. Eventually countries, like Scotland, would also be taxing them too.

I'd like to think what amounts to a "Lets get back into Afghanistan" political strategy to be such a colossally stupid one that it would be the fall of any politician or party that advocated for it, but so much of the public are so tribalistic on the Republican side that too many would blindly go along with it even when they were mostly against being there for years now.
