First of all, that is one of the biggest flaws in Christianity - the Old Testament is the supposed original scripture - the "Word of God". But, that's not what Christians follow? They don't follow the word of their own beloved God? Rather, they follow an updated version that is openly said to have been written by men and is nothing more than their loosely translated accounts of what may or may not have happened? :surprise:
Secondly, somebody made the comment that if this pastor was a true Christian, he wouldn't own a gun. Personally, I don't believe that statement has any merit. Nowhere does it say in The Bible that pastors can't own guns.
But, if this pastor were to defend himself and, in the process, kill someone with said gun, then he would, indeed, not be a true Christian. Why? Because, Christians follow a thing called The Ten Commandments - one of which is "Thou shalt not kill" - not "Thou shalt not kill. Well, unless someone is attacking you. Then you can kill. But, only if you're positive that the other person is going to kill you for sure and not just injure you. Otherwise, you'd be killing someone and...THOU SHALT NOT KILL."
The Ten Commandments are commands - commands ordered by their God - commands which they are required to follow. If they choose to ignore those commands, then they are defying their God. And, if you defy your God, Christian or not, then you aren't a very devout religious follower - you are a fair weather believer and stay faithful to your God only when it's convenient to do so.
:2 cents:
And, I'm not the one who brought up the pastor owning a gun. I was merely adding to the comments that had already been made.
