Apocalypse Now showed the confusion, insanity, and impossibility of any central control of a war that complex and involved...Catch 22 showed the same thing, brilliantly.

Where the sun sets in the east...a classic.
Apocalypes Now is an amazing movie! Not terribly realistic though.
For me it's a three-way split between The Deer Hunter, Platoon, and Born on the Fourth of July...all classics themselves.

How about Combat Shock, a good Vietnam veteran movie? Not exactly feelgood, I'll grant you, but very gritty.

Puzzled vastly why Full Metal Jacket isn't on that poll, and Good Morning, Vietnam IS(!)

That was a great movie...but Apocalypse Now has got to be the greatest movie about 'Nam.

We Were Soldiers gets my vote.

I was in 'nam. All we did was drink beer and listen to The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones. This one guy I met, Bubba, had this great idea to go shrimping when we got out. Bubba got shot.

Platoon is the best of the ones listed. Personally, my favorite Vietnam movie was Full Metal Jacket.
