Apocalypse Now is so overrated, was so fucking boring and dull. mr. coppola should stick to the mob movies. :(

Deer Hunter is so underrated, probaly the best vietnam movie ever.

Casualties of War and Hamburger Hill were more real than Platoon.

as for Full Metal Jacket, the first 20min was good, till after they leave the island (boot Camp) it got fucking dull as well. :pukey:

Platoon has been my favorite war movie period since I can remember... No contest! Apocalypse Now in a close 2nd, may have even been first had I discovered it first, absolutely brilliant, of course!

I thought Deer Hunter was absolute crap.

Apocalypse Now is more Heart of Darkness than a movie about Vietnam. I dont have a best, but maybe start with Tigerland and than Platoon.

edit: oh and the chic in Rambo2 was fucking hot.

I cant make my mind up between Apocalypse Now and Platoon?

I actually liked Mel Gibson's We were soldiers but hey he was called Moore.....The name Moore is a popular surname in many English-speaking countries and is of Gaelic/English origin.

Could be personal bias but the other good solid reasons are the fact it was the first movie that came out of hollywood to actually show that the french where in their beforehand.....Btw they did ask for help and no one was willing to do so.....Uncle Sam had to act big man and do it themshelves, Well that worked out.......

Another point was it showed that the US actually could have won Vietnam. But alas at risk of sounding like a war monger the west has gotten so used to its technological superiority that is hasnt really suffered casualities on the scale of world war 2 hence public opinion and general will within western nations is weak....Dont get me wrong horrible and it would really suck to be conscripted and have to land on a beach studdered with bunkers lmao.

Mel has his issues but he does have some valid points thats the sad thing about some guys that bring things to attention....Like Charlie sheen's truther thing, They fook up credibility by going off the handle bars on some other nutty thing.

Also in regards to France yep they have had good reason in my irish opinion and from pretty much looking at History to have had cause for grief with the US.....And although Americans are pissed at them during history I bet your leaders secretly had more respect for them than their british lackeys. At least they had the balls to stand up for their principles....You can laugh all you want about WW2 blah blah......A fresh fighter coming into a fight late has all the cards plz the ego flexing is tired and old.

Oh yea after that follows:
2. Full metal jacket
3. Apocalypse now

PS> Though in defense of the brits I was actually wondering this.....How is the US in such dire straights I mean I dont understand your deficit thing.....Didnt alot of the EU come outta WW2 in debt to the US? Loathe as I am to provide fodder.....Britain probably still owes you big, So it will go through the motions. Surely your cold war bill didnt overwrite that?

"The Deer Hunter" was OK but overrated. "Platoon" and "Apocalypse Now" were both a complete waste of time and among the most overrated films in history.

Are there any movies that you don't think are overrated?
