hi Bobbi, fortunately most people do care.
Seems like some people don't have any feelings. I have even read on some adult webmaster boards the most rude replies you can't even think of in your worst nightmare. What kind of world do we life in...

i have seen that in automobile forums too. some people are so full of hate, unhuman feelings and animosity that they take a pleasure to laugh and make other people suffer. There is only one way with such low life scum and venomous shitbags, a forever ban.Once they are banned , they can't say nothing anymore.
freeones the world has changed and not always in a positive way.
Just look at how bad and how many millions of dead left the 20th century due to wars, mass murders, etc.

well i was just giving you my opinion on this subject.

There are a good number of people out there who are hateful, who get a satisfaction out of being assholes. True- but I think that just makes up small percentage of the membership here. I dont think I am going too far by saying that all of the members here love and appreciate the performers in the adult industry. I mean that is why we are all here in the 1st place. Right? Unlike other parts of the web I really think Freeones is the one place where youll find people that are truly bothered by this news the way a decent human being should. For me personally it is really scary to know that so easily within less than 3 weeks, over 40 performers could be infected with this disease.

This is a big wake up call for porn. I agree that there has to be some changes made.

hi biglu

if 40 people are infected in less than 3 weeks then the only man to blame is the porn producer or company.Because it is he or company who didn't care to make std tests before scene especially knowing that the risk of transmitting stds was very high.Being so unresponsible and so obesessed by money from a bad porn production company leads to those disastrous consequences.
Money makes some people blind and when they want more money, then feelings have no place for them.

I'd like to think that the video companies would take this "wake-up call" seriously, but I doubt that they will. As I've stated before, when it comes to things like health and safety, the idea of industry self-regulation is laughable. Corporations are not interested in any expendiature that will affect their profit margin, and will take the least costly action in every circumstance. In case of the porn industry, it's much cheaper to "replace" their labour force (which has a high turnover anyway) than to ensure their well-being.

I make no bones regarding my position on this issue - I'd like to see the actors in the porn industry organize and fight the video companies together. It's the only way they'd actually get real change IMO. If you look at mainstream Hollywood, the studios used to mistreat their actors very badly at one time, but alll that changed after the Screen Actors Guild was formed. I would love to see the workers in the porn industry organize themselves in a similar way to the SAG, whereby the Union guaranteed certain standards were met by the studios. Furthermore, no one could work on a film set without first being a member of the Union. Now that would be real change.

No doubt some here will laugh at my suggestion. Many look down pornstars to begin with so the idea of organizing them sounds ridiculous. All I see, however, are persons that are lawfully employed, pay their their taxes, etc, etc, like everybody else. There is no reason why they should be any less entiltled to a safe workplace as anybody else is at his or her job.

yes this is a very sad time.. we all do more and more hardcore, harder and harder.. we do get tested every month..obviously that is not enough!
People giving those silly negative comments are stupid, but unfortunately always louder then the people that have some interesting things to say. I hope it stays with the 2 now, that they find darren to give some clearance on the cases, and that it will be all over soon. But that people learn from this and make the bussiness safer. And that everyone that has worked for the past 2 months takes a test! It makes me so angry how i speak to a lot of people who just assume they are in the clear cos they dont know anyone on the list, well the lists are still not complete, so why wait?? I feel a lot of people are still ignorant about it, and not only outsiders. Hey they are not even sure yet if he got it in Brasil! It could have been on a set in US.

very sad:confused:

Parker,

For the safety of the performers, condoms should start becoming the rule and not the exception. It wouldnt be a that big of an expence if these companies started having guys put on condoms....

FYI- There are are different levels to the porn industry and you cant paint the entire thing with one brush and say it is all one way. I remember in earlier post you reffered to the "medieval working conditions" in porn. That only applies to the lower level companies not the top companies. The ones that represent the top like Vivid, Wicked, Digital Playground & Jill Kellys company are the opposite of what you describing. They pay their performers well and totally regulate themselves by combining condom use with more frequent testing, which totally resolves any potential problem of AIDs getting into their circle. What your describing applies to the companies that I'm a fan of. These are what they call the "raincoater" companies; the lower more nastier ones like Redlight, Diabolic, Mayhem and West Coast. These guys make some great videos, but they pay their performers shit and although they are required to test all their performers through AIM its only once a month which is not as often as the top.

The reason why I bring up these two different ends of the industry is to let you know that there is a section of the porn industry that looks out for its workers and are demonstrating that it can prevent this kind of crisis. It is simply a matter of other parts of the industry following that example and getting their act together as well.

actually i think the money depends on the girl, you can get the same from a smaller company as from a big company. There are ones that pay more, but you work longer, but not the ones that you mention above.

But I do feel that we too have to be more responsible.I am not talking just about the people who work in the porn industry but on the whole as human beings we do have the responsibility to protect ourselfs and the people we r associate with.I do read a lot about how companies need to do tests more often.AGREE but doesnt the stars have responsibility to have protected sex?

As long as both concerned dont work towards solving this problem together I am sorry but we will have more of this.....Sad but a fact...Not that I disagree with what u said. But I see it as just one side of a coin. Its is easy for us to put blame on one person(Compnies)

It is not only the procuders, but also the talent....
I think its a 2-way. I think when you make the desicion to work in this industry should take care of your body and health...
And don't go playing outside the industry for a hour of fun,
I think that a lot of people don't realize that we all are responsible for our acts. Its sad but true.
We work in an industry with high risk,..but actually it shouldn't be. but as i read somewhere else this week from a girl... we have a risk ,. but in other work, you also have risks... like a contructor has also a risk to fall... but if you work at the 7-eleven there is a risk to get shot too.....Only in this industry the chance that more people getinfected is much higher.
I do believe the more hardcore you do the more risk there is...
And I mean with double anal, triple anal...all those kind of scenes.
The risk is much higher in these cases. :(

hi bobbi

you talked about double anal and triple anal scenes, then the name bridgette kerkove came into my mind. She is one of the few pornstars who can do double anal with +13inch cocks and triple anal with +13inch dildos. She received 13nominations for avn in 2001 for her incredible anal sex performances, she is nicknamed "the queen of anal sex" or "anal sex queen."In year 2001 she has done more than 240 scenes and mostly anal.
What i can say hardcore or not condoms must become a must be, you preserve the life of a human person with a condom even if you know that it kills a little bit "the erotic feeling" of the film.
just giving you my opinion on this subject.

Hi George,

I know exactly your point,
but I only try to say that when you do this kind of things you need to know exactly what your doing....
I think Bridgette knows very well what she is doing,. and she is a pro in this.
But for a lot of girls they r just brand new in the buisness and don't know the risks... and there are many many more girls that do this too then only a few. the last year alot changed i think ,...the people like to see more hardcore stuff,. so alot girls do it, because they dont know better.

I really respect the girls that even can do it...

yeah more and more hardcore, more and more people in the bussiness, and the crazier the better it seems these days. also the girls get younger, are very impressed with the money they are getting, and mostly unaware of any risks. Then you have the guys and girls who dont give a shit and fuck around outside the bussiness with anyone thats interested. That makes the job a lot riskier then it used to be. Where there are more people, more people can get hurt!

Im off to gym, work of some of this madness!!

Terri,

I should have been more clear ... I was talking about the high standard rates of pay that the contract girls are making at companies like Vivid and Wicked and comparing that to what the average performer makes. I know a couple people in adult and what I was told is the pay can be pretty low especially if you are starting out.

The Contract girls, make alittle more money then maybe some non -contract girls,. but they make more money with Dancing...
Because if you can say Im a contract girl of a certain company they get alot of $ for Feature dancing. And to be ver honest...
Some girls make much more money a scene not average then a contract girl.
The good thing about contract for the girl is that there is a secure income for a year or so.

on that i agree with you bobbi.Truth to be told bridgette can be considered as a veteran in the anal sex area she knows her subject more than perfectly.I agree on the fact that new actresses try to pleases their public but i think that they should preserve their health and hygiene before all.

The studios believe it would cut into their profits... not on the expendiature side, but on the revenue side. They believe the paying public is opposed to safe-sex films. I don't know if that's true or not, but that's the perception.

FYI- There are are different levels to the porn industry and you cant paint the entire thing with one brush and say it is all one way. I've also heard that Vivid treats their workers better than everybody else. However, if they're only testing their actors once a month (as someone else has stated on this thread) then I won't take back the "medieval" comment. There is no excuse for that - even a non-medical person like myself knows 1/month is ridiculous! What I do know (that maybe some others don't) is that an AIDS test is very expensive. If they're only testing once a month to save money, then they're corrupt. If the studios are only testing once/month because they don't know any better, then they're ignorant. In either case, they're gulity of running a shoddy operation and should not be trusted to fix the problems themselves.
