Maybe a HIV test is expensive....but don't forget you don't only get paid a $100.
its about $100 including the STD test. every 30 days.
But I dont think the money is more important then your health,..
And in a day you make a few hundred $ anyway,. so You beter safe every week $100 for your tests.

When I say "expensive," I'm speaking in relative terms... ie. compared to the price of other kinds of blood tests. Hopefully, I didn't imply that the companies can't afford them, because they sure as hell can.... and if for reason they couldn't, and had to pass that cost on to the consumer, I don't there'd be much complaining from the public, unless the studios abused that excuse to raise their prices, (as I'm sure they'd at least try to). But as I said before, they can afford those tests right now, it's just a matter of finding the right "persuasion" to get the companies to pay for them. I have my own opinions on how that should be done, which I've already stated above.

Bobbi, I don't see anything wrong with paying for extra testing yourself, but frankly, I don't think you should have to. Like any other profession, I think all you should be required to do is show up on time and do your job. It's up to your employer to make sure you don't do anything that's potentially harmful and to provide anything (like STD tests) that makes your job "reasonably" safe. Just my :2 cents:

P.S. I truly everything works out in this terrible time for you and your friends. :)

*sighs*

Is it the industry as a whole in bad shape? or those people that mostly do Gonzo style dvds? I love Gonzo....and I dearly love the girls that perform for our pleasures...and appreciate the men who star in the flicks too....I think that that one part of the industry ...the Gonzo...the most risk-taking part of the industry... will curtail its activities

I want the producers to responsible....and I'd like the talent in the vids be responsible offset too....maybe thats asking alot....but when poor judgement causes such a chain reaction....you just hope better choices are made in the future

Bobbi Eden made this point a bit more succinct (and was far more cute in doing so )

the whole situation sucks and i wish there was a cure to all of this, but you know it is a risk you take, hell life is a risk, like any job some things can go wrong, and sometimes horrible things like this bring more awareness, and wakes everyone up to realize what they need to do to prevent things

Bobbi,
Dont know the risks... never understood this. For a deasese as dreadful as this there seem to be hell of a lot of people who dont know about it.Is it that they dont know about this or is it the classic case of us human beings thinking that a lot of things happen in this world but it is not going to happen to us.Strange:confused:.Trust me I have seen a lot of people who think that way. They say if u educate people about AIDS it would be better. But the problem is when educated people start thinking thinking this way.have a lot of friends well educated(MBA'S,CA,IT Proffesionals)who go with prostitutes or pick up girls at pubs or bars have unprotected sex
and their logic being(especally the latter)they r neatly dressed. Then u have the so called educated peopple who know exactly how aids can be transmited from person to person but will not let their kids or relatives to go anywhere near them.Logic being dont want to risk it.Guess more important is what u actually learn than what u study.
I think a lot more people should take more responibilities for us to have a sucessful fight against this deasese. The people, the companies and all involved.Agree with what Parker said,A company like Vivid doing tests once a month is absolutely ridiculous.....

Hi George,

I know exactly your point,
but I only try to say that when you do this kind of things you need to know exactly what your doing....
I think Bridgette knows very well what she is doing,. and she is a pro in this.
But for a lot of girls they r just brand new in the buisness and don't know the risks ... and there are many many more girls that do this too then only a few. the last year alot changed i think ,...the people like to see more hardcore stuff,. so alot girls do it, because they dont know better.

I really respect the girls that even can do it...

Yes i think alot people do NOT know the risks,. and Don't want to see them...

I have alot of models that want to do porn or being the in the adult buisness,. wat I like ofcourse, but I always tell them the risks about it first. And then I sent them away to let them think about it if they still want to do it.. and dont get me wrong,I m always looking for models,. but only models that know what they are doin and want to make a careeer instead of quick money and regret it after.

if they're only testing their actors once a month (as someone else has stated on this thread) then I won't take back the "medieval" comment. There is no excuse for that - even a non-medical person like myself knows 1/month is ridiculous! What I do know (that maybe some others don't) is that an AIDS test is very expensive. If they're only testing once a month to save money, then they're corrupt. If the studios are only testing once/month because they don't know any better, then they're ignorant. In either case, they're gulity of running a shoddy operation and should not be trusted to fix the problems themselves.

OK , I just cant let this go... I want to let it go but I cant because Parker youre missing my point & now Ooahouch repeated your innaccurate statement. Once again here is my point---> companies like Vivid Video & Wicked etc. combine once a month and "before each scene" testing with condom use. The main part of that is "condom use".. Reason why the top companies arent "running a shoddy operation" is because all they have a condom only policy- they never allow their performers to work otherwise. I agree with your whole "Marx & Engels" outlook on big business.... corparations are indeed greedy and if given the chance they will exploit the hell out of labor. I agree with that. In fact I'm with all your points, I just feel that you were off when you say the adult industry as whole cant be trusted to regulate its self. Its the top end of porn that regulates its self 100% not the bottum. When you look at Nightfly's CNN article above -it says the State's health regulators Cal-OSHA may to step in to require that porn "employers have a written plan for injury and illness prevention, and they must provide condoms." Well, the top companies in the industry have already been doing that for the past six years!! <--- thats all I was saying :o OK?.... I love you guys ;)

I don't know the practices of each and every company, nor am I qualified to say what is or isn't sufficient protection against STD's. All I can do is repeat what I've heard, and in the case of condoms I've often heard that they should not be used to protect against STD because they're very unrealiable (their main use should be to prevent pregancies). Also, some STD's can be passed orally... again demontating that condoms are not the perfect solution.

It's reasonable to assume, however, that not all companies are the same, so I'll acknowledge that point. I still think that the performers themselves or a more neutral body should have a say in what precautions are taken from here out. I don't like giving a blank check to any corporation, especially when there's no law to reign them in.

The 2 Dutch articles translated as saying that Carmen had become infected too.. I apologize if it turns out to be a mistake. It looks like it's wrong because there arent any English versions to back it up.

hey you know where it went wrong.. the first article was fine, and never said who it was, but they had a picture of carmen taking a test. Same picture as what they used before. It doesnt say anywhere that it is her, and they are talkinging about a tzech girl. The next article used this article as a source, and took the wrong conclusions. Which is really sad, but if you dont read things right, mistakes can happen!

no i am not talking about the english one.. the one from Telegraaf doesnt say that it is about carmen, and the other one is using telegraaf as a source and misread the telegraaf... probably because they had a picture of her there saying that she took a test. But that was it.

what i am saying is that the second news, fok.nl has read the telegraaf wrong... and therefor made a wrong statement on their news site.
