I guess if a multi-billion dollar industry disapeared from the economy,it would leave a giant hole of missed tax dollars. True. Money does talk the loudest in a capitolist society. ...but I dont know, maybe I'm nieve but I really think that John Ashcroft is crazy enough to not care. He's going to do "Gods good work" and try to get rid of porn anyway. His actions say it all.

Big lu, I don't think that you came off as trying to start an argument. I am all for open discussion on any topic and realize that many differant folks will have many differant opinions. This is a very serious issue and I love to see all of the comments and opinions expressed by everyone.

I never mind when someone disagrees with me and if someone can make valid points I am always willing to possibly change my position on any subject.

I sure don't pretend to know what the soultion is to this or even if there is a solution. I am just fearful that if the federal government gets involved they will attempt to close down the adult entertainment business, especially with the current climate in the U.S. since the Janet Jackson performance at half time of the Super Bowl.

I do know that this latest incident has created quite a buzz in the adult business and I think that it is a good thing that they are trying to address it.

this is terrible. i think that std tests should be systematically done before making scenes. You don't play with another person's life it is too serious. For some people money is more important than people's life this is an overrevolting and overdisgusting attitude.Those people need to be sentenced to jail for life. This sounds like the old "guns and butter" question to me. I'm not sure what the ratio ought to be, but I do think you need a little bit of both. Of course I'd be thrilled if the gov't spent all their money on health, education, the poor, and other social causes, but the the realist in me looks at other countries whose gov'ts couldn't care less about these things, and unfortunately, the threat they pose is too serious to ignore. When I see countries like North Korea, whose gov't will spend every nickel they've got trying to build a nuclear bomb even though their people are literally starving to death.... well, it gives you an idea of how fucked up some people are in this world..... and I can't say I believe that "beating our swords into plowshares" would be enough to convince countries like that to do the same.

So you can make a conclusion after that: unprotected sex equals high risk of stds. As i told before some people care more of their money rather than people's life and those risks arrive when such irresponsible people decide to make films faster without testing the performers.

The day when pron producers will systematically make std tests to all their performers then it would be another story.

Have to agree with Georges, some of the production companies are very irresponsible in this regard.

Most of the major companies (Vivid, Wicked, etc) demand that a performer be tested no longer then 30 days prior to shooting or they won't hire them. I don't think that is enough as it is easy enough to contact the disease at any time. Just look at Darren James and the dates he had sex, he had multiple sex partners on the same day any of whom could have had the disease already.

Just as an example, let's say he was tested on March 13 and was negative, just look at all of the sex partners he had between March 13 and April 8. Hell, he could have unknowinly contacted the disease at any time during that period but still would have been allowed to work by any of the production companies because he had been tested within the prior 30 days.

I know that probably most of the people who watch porn do not want to see the performers using condoms, but maybe that is the best answer to the problem.

Nope, it wouldn´t. That´s why I admitted that my statement was polemic. It is indeed one of the hardest steps to realise, that an idealistic and humanistic and social POV and plain pacifism is sometimes just not enough to save the world.
