The Constitution has already been trashed...Freedom of Speech is a joke...try going to work and telling a good looking woman she has nice legs...your FIRED depending on how she wants to swing with that comment...I guess you weren't FREE to say that were you???

Just because someone is not an American citizen does not mean they are not entitled to basic human rights. You can not commit a crime against a person, legal citizen or not, and escape persecution. You can not let a person die in the streets in this country because they are not a citizen or because they can't afford to pay for healthcare. You do not have the right to harass someone just because you don't like them.

What are "illegals" protesting over anyway? What protests are you talking about specifically?

You have closed off your thinking to an alarming degree.

You're joking right? Can you back this up? I find it hard to believe that Arizonans would endorse a tax increase as opposed to the usual: cut education, cut health, cut welfare, cut business taxes, etc.

You produce ID when you buy alcohol, cigs, porn, see certain mainstream movies, etc. because we have laws prohibiting minors from partaking of some goods.

Annnd when a cop suspects your involvement in some crime or infraction they already have the right to inspect your id, citizenship, etc.

The only thing I can see this law being used for is to allow a cop to look at you, suspect that you're an illegal alien and check you out.

Well you may say if you're legal what's the problem? Answer; The constitution requires probable cause for a search (which is what it is when you're asked to produce ID). The vague and ambiguousness of the standard in this law makes me believe it will be overturned..and rightfully so.

We live in a country founded primarily because the unfairness of unreasonable searches (Writs of Assistance) leveled against colonists by GB which were open ended and arbitrary.

That is why the 4th Amendment was created.

Nah...we'll just hire illegals at minimum wage to keep other illegals from coming across the border...and if they do a good job and stay with the company for a year or more...they will become legal...problem solved at a reasonable price :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:

i have a feeling this is going to be a much more expensive bill than they are expecting, on the enforcement end i mean

Wow. Quite disappointing Sparky....

Our g'ment has no law against you expressing the opinion you cite in your example. That's what the right to free speech (or anything) is about.

Of course we have as well the right to choose our religion (for example) and lawfully (not injurious to others) practice it. That doesn't mean we are protected from being thrown out if we go into some other practitioner's church, synagogue, etc. and espouse something different from what they believe.

Our g'ment will not arrest nor sanction you for saying anything unless the words are directly or proximately injurious to others. Which is more about others having the right to be protected from the damages of your actions. Not infringing your speech.

Maybe not the government...but saying something as innocent as this to someone in the workplace, which is freedom of speech, can be construed as sexual harassment and you have a problem...ever hear of being PC in the business world...that's all I'm talking about...still comes under Freedom of Speech...so does an employer have the right to CAN YOUR ASS for an innocent compliment?

Not disappointing...reality...saying something as innocent as this to someone, which is freedom of speech, can be construed as sexual harassment and you have a problem...ever hear of being PC in the business world...that's all I'm talking about...whatever!

Again, the right to free speech isn't a right to be injurious to others. If a private company has their rules to protect their work environment from being a place others can't reasonably do what they're hired to do...they have that right. If you don't agree with their rules, don't work for them. That's one of your rights.

The right to free speech is about the GOVERNMENT not jailing nor fining you for expressing thoughts. But you are held accountable for words that are injurious to others. Your right to free speech doesn't supersede the right of others to be free from damages your actions may cause.

I'm not reading all these posts but my :2 cents: is to say that it's about fucking time. Immigrants are always welcome here in the land of the free and the home of the brave....the huddled masses yearning to breathe free. But if you want us to take in the wretched refuse of your teeming shore, you are well advised to do it in a legal manner. Otherwise, you deserve to be deported.

To those who object about racial profiling I say....well, no shit!!! How many blue-eyed blonde-haired Finns do you see crossing the border illegally? The objection about "prejudice" does not hold water....sorry. It's all about Mexicans....face it.

And I'm a social liberal! However, this is about right and wrong. Good for the governor and the state legislature for having the courage to address this epidemic that blatantly steals money from all of us legitimate taxpayers.

Welcome to America....just come come here legally. If not, face the consequences. Life is tough....deal with it.

Uh...duh...American's need a passport to enter Mexico...the border may not be exactly closed but you sure need a ticket to get in...you don't need a passport to get into America...what are you saying here

^
I wish Mexico would close the border from her side and see how Americans like that.

 I had a former g/f who told me she was here illegally from England for 8 years before she got her citizenship.

In that time she built a successful cosmetics studio making at it's height over $20k a month.

So your point is....???? Maybe she regrets not emigrating to the US legally when all is said and done? :dunno:

I'm glad she's here....and happy she finally decided to legitimize herself. Shame we didn't get her to contribute to the tax base in the interim....I had to pay for it.

Awesome post as usual Jagger. I can't give you a rep as I used them all up within the last 24 hours...maybe tomorrow :D

I found it pretty funny that gotham123, whoever this person is, gave me a negative rep for being racist which had nothing to do with this post...it's all about illegals...guess he just didn't get it...or he's illegal

That's cool...at least she got her citizenship, became LEGAL and did well in the country!!! Good for her...I actually like to see successful people no matter who they are or where they came from...

Point was...all illegals don't look a certain way as you seemed to suggest and most people who are here illegally come here for a reason, to be productive.

She happened to have a good deal more in her favor when she got here and correspondingly became a quite successful entrepreneur.

Men, women, children, police officers in America are being killed, raped, etc. plus the illegals have the luxury of food stamps, medical treatment and housing on us American workers hard earned dollars...

And your basing this on what? Some news reports that made the headlines right? And because of the event of an illegal alien killing American citizen means that all illegal aliens are going to commit the same act. Using this logic, this must mean that all the forty year old guys in this forum are sex offenders. After all, a report shows that these sex offenders have alot of porn on their harddrive.
Just to be sure, we are going to pass a law that allows police to invade your privacy and confiscate your laptop at any given moment based on their judgment. Sure, eventually they did not find any illegal activity, but you did not like being treated that way did you?

face/palm right? What does this have to do with that? Hope that feels good, because I had to face/palm through every comment from you on page 5 of this thread.

They can get their basic human rights in their own country...and if it doesn't exist...come to America and GET LEGAL!!

Sparky.

This is my head the more I read you in this thread. :spin:

We don't decide who gets treated as a human being and who doesn't. Comprehend?

And carefully consider what would happen if Mexico closed its borders on her side. What effect would that have on, oh, say, the American grocery store?

Here's an easy to read link. Source's credibility seems legit.

Hey what do you know, the representative who introduced this bill in the Arizona legislature is buddy buddy with the state's highest profile white supremacist/neo-nazi, a good old boy named J.T. Ready. Now there's a big surprise :1orglaugh

Good old J.T. was recently quoted as stating, "All the politicians wanna say it (immigration) is a complex problem.......well, I got it for you, one, two, three, four. Ya ready? Number one: Put the 1st Marine Division on the southern border. Number two: Put the 2nd Marine Division on the northern border. Number three: Put the 3rd Marine Division at our ports and shores. Number four: Our 4th Marine division needs to be within the interior moppin' up these gangbangers and takin' 'em out of here."

Funnily enough, J.T. never mentioned that he was court-martialed twice and booted out of the Marines with a bad conduct discharge. Or that in 2006 he was replaced as the master of ceremonies for Mesa's veteran's day parade once vets there discovered the truth of his service record :1orglaugh

And damn if the guy who helped write the Arizona bill is not only an Obama birther :conehead: but an attorney for the legal arm of an organization named F.A.I.R, which over nine years received more than a million dollars in funding from The Pioneer Fund, which in turn has funded 70 years of controversial research about race and intelligence essentially aimed at proving the racial superiority of white people. The Pioneer Fund's original mandate was to promote the genes of those 'deemed to be descended predominantly from white persons who settled in the original thirteen states prior to the adoption of the Constitution.'

Golly, with a cast of characters like that behind it I don't see how this new Arizona law can possibly go wrong
