I really don't think that rep should be tied to MYFO points. This has been a horrible experiment and has created more problems than it solved. I also think the rep the member above you game should be eliminated, and rep giving should be monitored. You should not get rep unless you make a good post. I also don't see the point of moving post count back to zero. Posts are monitored and if you spam, your posts are removed. So the amount of posts someone has is generally legit, why take it away?

The system used to be good. Anything I've seen in the last couple of weeks has discouraged me from using the rep system. Sorry to all the great posters, but I won't rep anymore.
I always thought that rep points should be one point per post, no matter what your number is, and a limit, say 5 per day. and maybe like you can only rep the same person once or twice a week. that way if people want to waste their rep on stupid things, they can go head, but it won't get them anywhere because they will have the same as everyone else, so it won't create inequality.
or better yet, just make rep points invisible to the public and only the user knows them, that way they don't have any validity as a numbers game, but you can still see who commented you and why.
i also really like getting rep because it's nice to know that what I say is appreciated by someone and I'm not just wasting my time. I still use Pm for this on occasion, but I think most people find it's easier just to have a one click congrats in the thread.

What most members here don't know is that this thread was started as a joke by Nightfly. It was actually aimed at another member who had been giving him a hard time over not joining in the repping people for the sake of it.

There have been member championing to get rid of it from its inception. At this point, I'd have to agree with them. It's caused nothing but problems since it was added. Get rid of it and be done with it. The only thing I would miss is the comments from other members. If someone honestly thinks I have a good post feel free to PM me about and we'll chat!
When the system tells me to spread, I sometimes have to skip over deserving posts I'm not allowed to rep, but eventually I come across enough other members with deserving posts to adequately spread the rep around. I wish everyone did it that way.dick_van_cock said:

I like this idea of invisible rep, along with not having rep points connected to MYFO points, as I mentioned before. What use will collecting massive amounts of meaningless rep have if no one else can see it? With invisible rep, we will still be able to see the comments and feel appreciated. Perhaps this way, rep will not need to be limited or restricted even. You wouldn't have to spread rep and you will always be able to give rep to posts you think deserve it. Then rep the member above you fans will have nothing but a bunch of empty or meaningless comments in their profile to look at.

I think this place would suffer without the Rep system. Rep is useful when someone makes a great point that I don't feel the need to create a response and eat up space. I think it's valuable to rep someone and tell them what or why you liked it. Otherwise threads will become gigantic mass response vessels and we'll have to sift through pages and pages of "Nice post" responses...
"Big Soccer" has a messageboard with disabled rep. You can rep someone but the total doesn't show visually anywhere. It makes the rep system lame because they also make it difficult to even find who repped you and their comments.
Maybe make it more difficult to boost rep number. Maybe the max number a person can increase is 2 points/rep? Or make it so that 4 people have to rep a person before his/her total increases??
There are ways around this...

Seriously, I've been posting and posting, earning myfreeones points, as the wife likes the underwear and such- I didn't know much about the rep points earning freeones points, but come on! That's going to wipe out a lot of what I've been building up.
Maybe leave the points as they are, and don't allow any more myfreeones points to accrue based on rep. But don't take the already earned ones away :dunno:

Invisible rep totals...as long as I can see MY total...this might not be a bad compromise. If I can simply rep someone with no meaning behind it..:dunno: Meh. Forget that. Rep should be earned.
As far as MyFO points being resetted:
Hedonis has a good point. Please don't reset MyFO points to zero. If anything reset them to the amount they were before rep MyFO points were added, or like H said, don't allow any more MyFO points based on rep from this point on.

I would also like to hear what BNF thinks about these changes made expressively by you solely. The rep never posed a problem to anyone but to you it obviously does, now I think you owe us more than explanation of why of these all of sudden unjustified actions against rep. Why, just why????
You said us that you have feedback, so what kind of feedback it is??? Please post proofs of the feedback please which justifies such decisions, I ask it.
At last but not least, I truly wonder if your decisions are fully backed up the admins and mods team. If these decisions are taken by you only and solely then you decide for others without asking their consent let alone their opinions and that is far to be fair.
I am just stating my opinion and my disagreement against these decisions.
I don't mind losing all my rep but losing myfreeones points wouldn't be funny I don't wanna spend any til I post my 5k and to just have them all wiped would suck.
