I'm waaaay to lazy to do ^^this^^ It seems to me that PM is for questioning somebody about something they posted or initiating a discussion about something.
If I really like something said by somebody but have tapped out my rep for the daymad
then I'll just wait around to rep that person again later...great posters usually offer up lots of things to rep them for. Or, I'll just quote them in a reply and say:thumbsup: "nice job". Much easier.
Believe me you are missing out on a whole different world not using the PM function. You can really discuss a post in depth for one thing. As you can't in the rep box, which as I've pointed out You Might not be able too anyway.
Just putting a thumbsup, saying thanks, nice job, good post, etc is spamming. They also become annoying when all you see all on posts throughout a thread are these little one, two or three word responses just to say thanks. That is why I mentioned the thanks button function. As then you can thank them for each of the posts they make as many times as you like in one day. Which means if you liked four posts they made that day you can thank them for all four under each one. All the names of the members that thank that member appear in a box below the post they are thanking them for. So you haven't got a page full of thanks posts on a thread. Which will keep the board looking tidy.
There is one or two other ways I believe, but I've never gone into them fully.
Maybe this could be the fair way of linking MyFreeOnes to giving extra points for a good post. But like I said before, it still won't be totally fair. Plus members will still be able to abuse it. But everyone will see them abusing it out in the open. So maybe it might put them off doing it that way and using the system as intended.
PS
I don't know either if linking MyFreeOnes to a thanks button is possible either.
