First off, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley would never side with soon to be ex-President Trump. [As in a true coup d'etat.] Should that ever happen with the military siding with an ex-President? Then you can say good-bye to what we know as democracy in the free world. All of our freedoms would gradually go away. We'd be living like a country in central Africa. The United States is not an autocracy.
Kudos to Barack Obama and George W. Bush.
Now should Joe and Jill Biden do that ... you'd have to put Donald at the little kid's table.

Yes, January 20 is in the 20th Amendment. I couldn't find anything about 'alternate electors' in the document.

I'm shocked the Republican states didn't get up early to run up the early vote count. Trump could then claim only EC votes cast prior to 9 a.m. ET are legal. "I was up huge and then those Democrat states stole my crown."
It looks like it's time to cross out another line from the list.
I'm a little concerned by Biden's speech though. He did a lot of talking about the strength of US democracy and the decency of Americans. I think, if anything, the last 4 years have proven how flimsy US democracy is, and how close that flame came to being snuffed out. And do we really need to discuss the "decency" of the 73 millionish people who watched those same years and thought "fuck yeah, we need more of this!"
I hope the dems aren't just going to sit back and let Joe take the lead on protecting America from the republican party, because the war is far from over, and it didn't sound like Joe gets that.
