Gotta love how the system works. Just incase Bama loses, we have Auburn and Missouri at 4/5 so we still get an sec team in the NC.

Yes I know they'd have to jump OSU. Do you really believe they won't?

The past few weeks should have taught you, there's no guarantee. Hell, there's no guarantee Winston will even play. He could be indicted.

Just for the sake of argument, let's say this is 2014, the playoff system is in effect and Florida State finishes 2nd. Winston get's indicted for rape and the selection committee decides not to include the Seminoles. How do you think the public would react to that?

There's a lot of football left so we'll see what pans out. I do agree that Baylor should pass Ohio State in the stupid BCS since they don't play anybody worth a shit in the rotten-ass Big 10 (man....remember when the Big 10 was THE conference?? Well, I sure do....been a long, long time)....if they can get past OSU (that's Oklahoma State here in Big 12 country). Oh....if Mack walks, it will be of his own volition and he'll quietly "retire" rather than be fired. It's supposedly in his contract. My dream come true....he never could coach but now he can't assemble a staff either and that's going to be his undoing.

It would make for a helluva NC game to have Baylor take on FSU. It would also be fun to see FSU kill 'Bama....right smoker?? First time I've seen you less than obnoxiously cocky about the Tide in a long, long time....an ominous harbinger, dare I say even a portend of things to come, perhaps? Hmmm??? What say ye, he whose face is red?? Oh wait, you've already conceded defeat. So....is FSU really that much better than everyone else???

why no love for bama man? and you are over charging me with crimes. last year i didnt have much to say...in fact they prove to me they could again. i really didnt think we was going to get it last year. it wasnt nd i was worried about it was georgia. this year our plate is full. if we get there we will be earned our way for sure. winston is imo the most accurate qb in the ncaa right now...and has been since i watched close against clemson. i think alone he has made fla st look unbeatable. sometimes things change in a qb life when he has red shirts in his face time he gets the snap. November has a way of bringing out the best...and the worst. we shall see. and i hate to even mention this. but fla st hasnt beat florida YET. (as ol wrestling commentator Gordon Solie would say....that remains to be seen.

Actually, he’s 6th. Five QB’s have a higher completion percentage:

  1. 72.8 - Shane Carden
  2. 72.3 - Joe Southwick
  3. 71.0 - Teddy Bridgewater
  4. 70.3 - Brendon Kay
  5. 69.7 - Derek Carr
  6. 69.6 - Jameis Winston

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the latest BCS rankings. Auburn moved into 4th, which is no surprise, but Missouri passed Clemson to take the 5th spot. Of the top 5 teams, 3 of them are from the SEC. Wow.

If OSU loses to Sparty, Mizzou beats A&M and then they beat Alabama or Auburn in the SEC championship....It's Mizzou and FSU for the NC, no?? Just as probable as any other scenario I've heard here. Baylor losing was integral to Missouri having any shot at this. Now at least they've got a chance if things fall just right. Stranger things have happened. First, we need to take care of A&M and Johnny Fucking Football. If LSU can run against them the way they did on Saturday, Mizzou ought to be able to do the same. Should be a helluva battle....looking forward to it.

I'm not dissing 'Bama, pal. You're the one who says they have no shot to beat FSU. I would disagree. I still think Alabama is the team to beat in spite of what everyone thinks about FSU. And if Winston suddenly finds himself suspended....anything is possible.

the onlty reason these guys name is even in the mix is because they have all played against a cupcake defense all year. lets see..seems like oregon and baylor had a dog in this fight till they had a defense in front of them. when they have a defense in their face we find out how talented they are. if i owned a nfl team winston and aj would have my attention.

so...auburn moved to 4....hummm....i dont guess no way in hell....bama and auburn could play the NC game? :chickendance:

or...........could they???

McCarron? ... Do you have a brain tumor?

McCarron’s passing yards ranks him at 45th and his quarterback rating ranks him at 90th

I doubt even a team in the Canadian League would want him as a backup!

In other news, Nick Saban's wife has yet again, gone and stuck her foot in her stupid mouth. Here's her latest bullshit comment:

"You come to a crossroads and the expectations get so great, people get spoiled by success and there gets to be a lack of appreciation. We're kind of there now."

Simply put, the wife of the highest-paid football coach is saying Bama fans don't appreciate what Saban has done.

What a bitch...

Yes. If FSU loses the ACC championship game and Ohio State loses to Michigan State and Auburn beats Alabama in the Iron Bowl and then Auburn beats either South Carolina or Mizzou in the SEC championship game.

In addition to personal statistics, team achievements play a heavy role in the voting – a typical Heisman winner represents a team that had an outstanding season and was most likely in contention for the national championship or a major conference championship at some point in that season<<<wikipedia...i guess they have a brain tumor

I love reading the "what ifs" when it comes to the National Championship, because it belies how silly the format is... HOWEVER, there are those of us old enough to remember some CrAzY scenarios in college football. Like how about 1969, when Texas beat Arkansas 15-14 and President Nixon gave the Longhorns a plaque, proclaiming then national champions, even though Ohio St, was rated #1 and Penn St. was undefeated. Or how about 1966, when Notre Dame and Michigan St. tied 10-10, and were proclaimed national champions, even though Alabama remained undefeated through the bowl games. And then there's the 1984 national championship that went to Brigham Young, and precipitated people to say, "Yeah, that can't happen again."

My point being... It REALLY COULD BE WORSE

lot of IF there. but i have that same figure. NOT probable ...but possible . i will say again it looks out of the question. but florida st hasnt beat florida yet. and ohio st is not the michigan champions yet. one of them will get ohio st. so it may not be as out of the question as it looks with first glance.

The point that I've been trying to get you to understand is this:

The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence.

That statement comes directly from the Heisman site. The award is not supposed to be about the team, it's about the individual. Once upon a time, the voters understood this. Today, they're just a bunch of idiots that think this:

a typical Heisman winner represents a team that had an outstanding season and was most likely in contention for the national championship or a major conference championship at some point in that season

I hate to say this and I certainly don't condone it but I am beginning to envision a scenario where I will have to eat my words and see McCarron winning the Heisman. The other players who should be in the running are slowly removing themselves from contention. Mariota? Nope. Winston? Not anymore. Miller? Never was in the running. Petty? Don't think so. Manziel. No way. Williams, Lynch, Carey, Carr....nobody knows who they are. If Alabama wins out, McCarron wins it by default. If they stumble and lose, he's finished.

Not the way it should be. He's nowhere near being the best player in the nation so the award has become strictly a popularity contest if he wins it. A total travesty. And please don't rip my face off about it, smoknn ol' buddy. Just my :2 cents:

I sort of said the same thing earlier. Most of the guys who could make a deserving case have lost late in the season, and the voters are stupid enough to think that should matter. Winston, even if he's innocent, has too much baggage. No one in their right mind would/should vote for him only to find themselves facing questions about why they voted for a suspected rapist. I acknowledge that McCarron now has a reasonable chance, but if it happens, history will judge him as someone who never deserved it.

And, you are 100% correct. The award has become nothing but a popularity contest instead of individual achievement on the field, which is what it is supposed to be about.

Jordan Lynch finished out the regular season with a record breaker. 321 yards rushing (by a quarterback) for Northern Illinois, giving them an undefeated season. He finsihed with 1,755 yards rushing (only Andre Williams has more rushing yards and he's a running back), and 2,457 yards passing.

Yes, he has been dominant. He gets negative points for playing in the MAC but the dude deserves some serious consideration for the Heisman. His numbers are just crazy.

Johnny Fucking Football is going to be a tough test. My advice to Gary Pinkel and Josh Henson, don't ever take your foot off the gas, they need to call an aggressive game.

I don't think you'll need to worry. The guys are going to be sky-high for this game and Pinkel is emphasizing offense as the key to winning. I agree with him since Mizzou's D is much better than A&M's, we have to put up a bunch of points and hope that we get enough stops (or, better yet, turnovers) from Manziel and crew that we end up on the winning side of the score. It won't be easy. I would expect to see someone like Wilson or Ealy spy JFF since they have the physical tools to possibly run him down. Can't wait for it!
