I thought Saban agreed to a long term extension at Alabama?

take a breath man. i read a article that said he commented he was retiring at alabama. if that happens....it will be hard to keep us out of the 4 game playoff for a LONG time. besides he now wears a tracking device. dont even try it lol:chickendance:

i was afraid bama would leave it all at home. anyway congrads sooner fans

Prior to the game, CBS Sports had an article saying despite FSU and Auburn playing in the NCG, Alabama was still the best team in the country. If that were so, you'd think they wouldn't be handed their lunch by a 16-point underdog. :stir:

I am looking forward to the day when the folks in Alabama come to the realization that they are paying over $7million a year to a 9-3 coach. It's pathetic how they hero-worship a coach. God, guns and roll tide! Fucking morons.

At first, I thought Bama wouldn't have their heart in this game, but there were 2 things that I thought would motivate them.

  1. McCarron wouldn't want to lose the last 2 games of his college career.
  2. Boob Stoops (yes I spelled that right) foolishly bad-mouthing the SEC and Bama.
But Stoops actually showed some good coaching in this game. He realized the only trouble Bama has had is with hurry up offenses and he changed his offense to take advantage of that. It paid off, so, well done there.

Also, does anyone think Lane Kiffin had a hand in Alabama losing this? Saban had him come in for a week to advise the team on ways to improve the offense. Personally, I thought McCarron was passing too much and those first half turnover seem to support my opinion.

Welcome to my world. I live in Alabama and over the past few weeks, it's been a bitch putting up with Tide fans going out of their way to tell Tiger fans they only won because of luck.

And by the way, it's 7.5 million for a 11-2 coach.

Connor, I hear ya. I used to live in NC and dealing with UNC and Duke fans was bad, but I am sure your situation is much more intolerable and inane. St. Nick was 11-2 this year, but over the next couple years, without a decent QB, he is going to lose games he has been able to win recently.

Saban will find a replacement at QB, but I certainly don't look for him to be a star. The last time the Tide had a star QB was in the 60's.

With their type of usual offense, run first, run second, and if the yardage is short, run again, I don't see why any prolific passer would want to come to Bama unless he's a legacy. Besides, if you can run the ball everyone's throats, it doesn't matter if you can pass.

Saban's real problem for next year will be replacing the boatload of seniors he's losing. I have no doubt their running game will be strong, as usual, but their defense is another story.

Hopefully, Malzahn can build up the stagnate Auburn defense.
Kevin Sumlin, to a much greater degree needs to build up A&M's defense.
Les Miles should have a better team.

With all this, Bama will probably have a tougher time, but the one thing in their favor will be the new playoff system. 1 loss (maybe 2) and they can still get into the mix.

pages back i said bama wouldnt show for this game. they didnt get up for okl. no surprise here. considering we were only one second away from overtime with auburn and now auburn is in the NC game against fla st. after this game you will know who should have been playing for the crystal ball. and as far as saint nick goes. we have won 3 of the last 4 national championships. and held the #1 spot all year long this year. i can live with that. and last night i seen a star born for the crimson tide. derick henry will be heard again

Mizzou got really lucky last night against OSU. The better team won, but they didn't show it in that game. Franklin was horrible, the receivers looked like they hadn't practiced in a month.....only Josey and Hansbrough and the defense showed up. Thank God they did.

Charlie Strong is headed to Texas as well. Great move by the regents and Patterson. Briles did not want to leave Baylor, ditto for Shaw with Stanford so Strong becomes the obvious frontrunner. I'll look forward to see how he changes things in Austin.

If Winston struggled that much for three quarters against Auburn, what would he have done against a real defense? Sparty would have torn him up.

Well, Auburn played their defensive game of the year. I was proud of their effort on that front.

Malzahn made a huge mistake though with his determination to keep running up the middle when they couldn't gain anymore than 2 or 3 yards in that area.

And the officiating was awful.

Auburn got away with 2 facemasks and a horsecollar.
FSU got away with 6 facemasks, 2 horsecollars and 2 blocks in the back.

Holding - Only 1 flag, on Auburn, and it wasn't even a hold. Both men hit each other and then slipped on the grass. I lost count of how many holds FSU had and three of them had 2 or more players committing holds.

I think the NCAA has re-defined what warrants a hold, but has failed to tell anyone other than the officials.

I read that Dameyune Craig, former QB coach for FSU (last year)/current QB coach for Auburn, was able to figure out the playcalling signals for FSU based on his experience coaching under Fisher.

Apparently FSU figured this out at halftime and started hiding their signal callers behind towels. Up til then, Auburn basically knew every play that FSU called on offense.
