Well, my Dad is a Bama fan and said he understands. Saban can't even go out to a restaurant and enjoy a meal without some obnoxious shithole running up to him and asking him to autograph the forehead of his new baby. Add in a lot of little reasons:

reputation for never staying anywhere more than 5 years
the unrealistic pressure put on him by faculty, alumni, fans, etc.
news outlets running independent investigations becuase the NCAA turns a blind eye to his program
more...

If he is just trying to suck more money out of Bama, he roped his wife into his scheme by sending her to Texas to look for a house. If that's the case, that's pretty low.

There are three NCAA programs that are "worthy" of Saban and his huge ego: Alabama, Texas and Oregon. And by worthy, I mean, a sufficient (read obscene) amount of alumni and other donor money flowing into the program with no end in sight, facilities that are beyond state of the art, or about to become beyond state of the art,and enough national notoriety to keep the television cameras pointing in your direction. Two of those programs have coaches that are pretty much safe. Oregon and Alabama. The third is remarkably coming back to prominence, thanks to a few timely wins. And IF Baylor beats Oklahoma tonight, and then Texas beats an undefeated Baylor team, well, Mack Brown will have his post for life.

In other words, Saban doesn't want to go anywhere, Texas is putting heat on Mack Brown's ass, and Saban's agent saw the whole thing as an opportunity to get more cash.

I have to disagree about Saban's ego. Besides Bama, there are few more programs that some would say are worthy of his ego, but Oregon is not one of them. Besides, Oregon would not want him. Oregon is all about offense and Saban has no experience with that kind of offense. If he went to Oregon, he would completely change the offense and the team would fall into mediocrity, at least for 2 or 3 years. Also, consider that recruiting out there is completely different.

I also strongly disagree about Mack Brown having that post for life. Just for the sake of argument, let's say Mack Brown wins out the rest of the year, and then Saban tells the right people in the Texas program that he'll take the Longhorn job, if you think Mack Brown won't be forced into retirement, you're insane. Case in point, Bobby Bowden.

I don't see that happening. I figure Baylor looked at this game as their test of the year. If they get by the Sooners, Texas should not pose a great obstacle, and with Baylor up 24-5, a magical season seems to be in their grasp.

Stanford scores a second touchdown on a bullshit call. That ball was intercepted and the ref calls defensive interference when it was clearly offensive interference.

Pathetic.

If this Stanford lead holds up, and Baylor ends up crushing OK, I'd hate to be an Ohio State fan when the polls come out. Hell...it's bad enough being a Michigan State fan. Me luvee basketball!:)

It's possible...
You think Ohio State gets shit on in the polls?
If it doesn't happen on the next poll, and both win out their seasons, I do believe Baylor should pass Ohio State. Texas Tech is next followed by Oklahoma State and Texas at the end of the year. Baylor's strength of schedule is much higher than the Buckeye's.

Baylor rolls over Oklahoma. I thought that game would actually be close, but the shock of the night is how horrible Oregon is playing. Their title dreams are all but gone and this could actually kill Mariota's Heisman run.

Doesn't matter what I think. It matters what THEY (Ohio State fans) think. And from the looks of things, Stanford WILL leap-frog the Bucks, and I wouldn't be shocked if Baylor leaped the Bucks, too.

You know, the only undefeated team that really has a chance to knock Bama off of their MNC run is Florida State.

i dont see it that way. if bama got beat by lsu or auburn i could live with that. fla st is in a class alone this year. they will run away with it and it doesnt matter who they play. i said that 2 weeks ago after i seen them take a GOOD clemson team apart. and that was a decent miami team...same outcome.

tough luck bodie. but look at the bright side. if bama gets beat by auburn or lsu. we wont be beat like a rag doll like WHOEVER plays fla st in the big dance.

i can still remember the bumper sticker......dec 1 1984 it said....we beat the sugar out of auburn. should bama be undefeated when they play auburn....i already dont have a good feeling about that one. auburn cant go...the only thing they have left is to stop bama. that is if we get by lsu. i really didnt think we could do it last year. but sometime being wrong is good.

Who do you think is going to beat them in the regular season? LSU? Not likely this year. Auburn? Don't tell me you drink the Auburn KoolAid, too. Perhaps Chattanooga can do it...

Yeah, I am pulling for Florida State this year, which is hard for me.
LSU - Not likely, but possible. Les Miles usually finds a way to fuck up in a big game, but he has a chance here. Bama's secondary is not good and LSU's QB, Zach Mettenberger, is rated as the #5 QB in the nation. This one may be interesting.

Auburn - Malzahn made a couple bad decisions at the start of the year. He moved Kiehl Frazier from QB to safety. He should have moved him to running back to deepen his stable. The second was naming juco transfer Nick Marshall as starting QB instead of freshman Jeremy Johnson. Marshall is great at running, but his passing is not good to put it mildly. And what has Malzahn done with a one-dimensional offense and poor-ish defense, taken them to 8-1. Malzahn is like an ANTI-Les Miles. He can find a way to win. Malzahn knows Bama's weakness is their secondary and with a week off before the Iron Bowl, I suspect he'll be working on a game plan to exploit that. Most likley, platooning his QB's. The only concern is this, how will he get his defense ready? Remember last night? Most people thought Oregon would run away with it and Baylor/Oklahoma would be a nail-biter with one of them pulling away in the 4th quarter. Baylor stomped the Sooners and Stanford dominated the Ducks. You never know what can happen.

Like I said, you never know. With more than a month to prepare for a bowl game, Saban can come up with a game plan to give Jimbo Fisher a real fit. 2 questions:
  • how would FSU's offensive line stack up against Bama's defensive line?
  • how would FSU's defensive line cope with Bama's running game?
Neither team has finshed undefeated, yet, but obviously FSU is gonna have a far easier time of it.
