My Heisman ballet (if I had one):

1. Robert Griffin III - arguably had the best year in college football playing for a weak program.
2. Andrew Luck
3. Tyrann Mathieu
4. Montee Ball
5. Trent Richardson

this wouldn't be an issue had Ok State just taken care of business on the field
They didn't. Blame them

Once Alabama dropped the ball in October, the title shot was there for a handful of teams to take. They all failed.

Alabama would beat Ok State. LSU would be Ok State. The 2 best teams are playing.

I agree, Ok St had a very nice season, but they do not have the athletes to play 60 minutes with either LSU or Bama.

robert had the best year..gotta wonder what kind of year he would have had at miss st, or luck at ole miss, or montee ball at tenn..i bet their numbers would look a lot differnt now..things change when the road gets more bumps ask houston

I agree with Griffin winning it. He's been consistently making headlines from the first week to the last week. Hard to not give it to either RB though.

you have better..then you have a step above= lsu..okl st couldnt beat lsu with 3 footballs

Funny, cause that was the same kind of comments about Utah beating UA. And look what happened!

Anything can happen. You never know in college football.

I could make a case for Tyrann Matthieu with the game tape alone. He is a major difference maker not just on defense but on special teams. He has 2 things working that will cost him votes A) he is a defensive player which is a curse to hiesman hopefuls B) Character has become more significant over the years, esp. with Cam Newton last year, and 'Honey Badger' has character issues, he served a 1 game (indefinite presumably) suspension for what is believed to be a drug related issue (predictably he was unsuspended because the game after the one he missed was Alabama, so much for setting a good example, its about winning not integrity)

Grif is gaining steam. But my gut says Trent.

RG3 had a great year. But is he the "best" player in CF? Doubt it...

Who said he was the best player in college football? I think the consensus is Andrew Luck is the best player in college football. But the Heisman trophy isn't given to the best player in college football.

I hope that isn't the "consensus". He hasn't done much this year to warrant "Heisman"
Unless "Heisman" now means "most coveted draft pick, rewarded for the longest body of work by seasons"
The Heisman, as long as I've known it, has been given to the best player in college football (see Charles Woodson / Mike Rozier / Eric Crouch / Desmond Howard / etc)

Like I said, it's not necessarily given to the best player. The Heisman trophy combines best player, with team record, and players stats. So the "best" player isn't going to always win.

Last year, yes, it was given to the best player. But in 2009 when it was given to Mark Ingram, no, he was not the best player in college football. In 2009 the best player was Ndamukong Suh.

Suh is still 10x the player Ingram is, even if he's a dirty cunt. Ingram wasn't even the best RB in 2009.

Anyway...
