Also was just looking at the final BCS poll...don't know why....

In the top 11 was 11. Nevada, 9. Boise St. and 2. TCU... Just think, all those teams would have been in the same conference (with Utah) had Utah and TCU not bolted...

The Sooners and the Ducks. Okay. But watch out for the Seminoles. Their D is impressive even if Bradham leaves, and the O will be improved now that Manuel has had some time in. Plus they've had a helluva recruiting class.

thats my preseason dark horse as well....you had to keep bowden around as long as he wanted to stay..but you cant win football games today..with yesterdays math...keep your eye on florida st

I gotta tell you that even being a Longhorn fan this whole "Longhorn Network" that is being launched next month by ESPN is ridiculous. Not only am I uninterested in women's volleyball and men's water polo but the other Big 12 Ten schools have a legitimate bitch about recruiting disparity. Texas A & M is already talking about leaving the conference for the SEC and OU Coach Bob Stoops has been extremely vocal about the network as well. It's not good for an already crippled conference.

There's no need for a "Longhorn Network" or any other single college network for that matter. I hope it fails and that ESPN shuts it down quickly.

I appreciate the candor, Jagz, but the Longhorn Network is going to be a smashing success for UT, and if the other schools bitch and moan then UT can pull an ND and go Indie.

The Big12 needs to expand and get back to 12 teams. That outta be first and foremost on everyone's agenda. TCU and Arky seem like the best bets for expansion. I think the SEC is becoming too claustrophobic for a team like Arkansas. They'd leave in a second. For one thing, the SEC blows as a basketball conference whereas the Big12 might be the best bball conference not named the Big East.

The Pac12 just announced a pretty nice megaTV deal ---modeled after the Big10's network.

Pretty soon, with so many televised sports, the *smart* play as a fan is to NOT live close to your school and see EVERYTHING on TV

"Smashing success"? Depends how you define success. If you mean a financial windfall for UT, you are correct. If you mean high ratings with broad viewership stats, I think you're dead wrong. Hell, I'm as big a UT fan as there is and I won't watch it unless they are showing a football, basketball or baseball game that isn't being shown on a major network. I can't wait to see the rest of the program lineup.

Jagz, most of UT's little sports are actually pretty good. UT might be the only real threat to winning the Director's Cup from Stanford. You should give WOmen's VBall and soccer a shot...talk about hawties and bodies in ~mOtIoN~

I gotta agree with Jagger. A longhorn network is a bad idea. I think the network will have great ratings on football, but the ratings on everything else will be dismal and the overall package will be terrible.

As for Texas possibly going independent like ND, that would go down as one of the most moronic decisions in the history of sports. In today's college football world, being in a conference is a must and ND is paying the price for their failure to join a conference.

As for Big 12 expansion, TCU might join, but only if it makes financial sense. In the Big 12, TCU must know they won't come close to the same winning success in football for at least 3 or 4 years, and even after that, they would still have difficulty recruiting with the likes of Texas and Oklahoma. As for Arkansas joining, in the long run, they would regret it. The only selling point would be that would be free greater freedom in negotiating TV deals, but let's be real, they wouldn't get enough to make it worthwhile.

As for other sports on TV, outside of football and basketball, does anyone watch, or even care. Personally, I only watch college football. I hate basketball and no one in Alabama even cares to broadcast baseball games until it's time for the SEC championship.

As for women's sports on TV, the only sport I find interesting is softball, but I can't bear to watch a game where a team still has their women wearing shorts. I've seen too many women with horrible bruises/scrapes after a slide that it just makes me cringe when I see one of them try a slide into a base.

Here's my top 10 preseason list for next year:

1) Texas
2) Miami (FL)
3) Missouri
4) Oklahoma
5) Oklahoma State
6) Texas Tech
7) Baylor
8) Kansas State
9) Kansas
10) Iowa State

Mine means as much right now as any of them! :D
