Now that the US is finally out of it, even the small number of people in this country that became bandwagoners will finally remember that soccer really does suck and we can get on with our regularly scheduled programming. :1orglaugh

Missed too many chances, and against a fine Ghana team. But Uruguay might give Ghana trouble...especially since they know the weight of a continent is on their shoulders.

What really makes this disappointing is the fact that some of the key players might be back for one last run at the World Cup. Donovan is 28, Howard is 31,Onyewu is 28, Bocanegra is 31,Cherundolo is 31, and DeMerit is 30. I think only Donovan, Onyewu, Dempsey will be available in 2014 and 2018 which at that point they will be 36, 36, and 35.

You mean might not be.

Our U20 team has some tallent. I haven't followed them enough but what I have seen was good.

Is somewhere outhere.
The US had more problems than the defense. They also relied too
much on Donovan to get them out of trouble.I think they need to
start looking for better strikers,as Altidore for me did nothing.

Hopefully the MLS will bring out some decent talent for the next
World Cup in Brazil.

I don't know why you are so bitter, but you really don't have to watch football if it's too much for you to handle.

You hate football, but hey, who cares. Go watch some wrestling.

I wouldn't worry too much about the future of US football. The number of players has risen in recent years. Young talents have the chance to promote themselves in the domestic MLS. The best players will continue to sign with European clubs.

The youth teams are doing quite well. U-20 finished 2nd in 2009's Concacaf Cup and had a tough group at the World Cup, losing to Germany and South Korea, but they won 4-1 against Cameroon. The Olympics team (U-23) were unlucky to go out in the first round after holding the Dutch to a draw and losing 1-2 to the eventual finalists Nigeria.

I expect the men's team to become stronger in the future.

In the Confederations Cup, the Yanks played both Brazil and Spain's first team squad. They werent playing they're B-squad. They beat Spain and they nearly beat Brazil. To say that those teams didn't care for the Confed Cup is a stretch considering these teams decided to bring their best players.

I realize that playing Ghana is going to be tough because they are going to have the entire continent of Africa behind them, but this is a beatable team. The have only scored two goals in the tournament, both coming on penalty kicks. With Uruguay or South Korea, Uruaguay is the one team that I believe would trouble the Yanks, but again its the same with Ghana, these are both beatable teams.

Hate say it , but I told you they would get beat

And so you're a prophet? It's a game. We got beat. We lost the game. We had it won but we lost it. It happens. Nothing to worry about. Probably better for the health of that sickly nation Ghana's moral anyway...do they have anything to be happy about in everyday Ghana?

We will win the World Cup. It will happen. It would not surprise me to see it happen within the next few WCs, as I have seen the US system of soccer is healthy and alive, and kids LOVE to play the game, so count your blessings...for now. ;)

All in good fun , thats what you do in football , have a laugh winding up other supporters about there team

I dont doubt Usa will win it one day but I think yous are still years and years behind the best teams in the world

Not really. We could've won today. We should've won today. Even you saw that. So, we win today and play another team we could logically beat. Then we're in the semi's? It's just like anything else; that's the beauty of sports is that a team that isn't supposed to win, wins. We're closer than you think. I just wish we had a Pele or Maradona coming up in our soccer program that was making the nation crazy. In due time.

The US consistently play a poor first half and then an improved second half! Why is that?

It was the theme of their '10 World Cup. Other than them being the comeback kids. It was fun watching this team play. Contrary to whatever the naysayers put forth here, fuck'em. We handled ourselves with class whilst getting screwed several times throughout the tournament. I wanted at least a semifinal finish but the good Lord had other plans.
