I think france, logically not the best choice but from an emotional point of view for them, they are lucky too be here and have nothing to lose, i think argentina will ether really dissapoint or really impress, just because they dont have the balance in the side but with the right mentality and some great attacking players they can really dominate teams. England have been having some great success in europe with club teams as of late, some of the english players may have adopted this mentality, rooney, ferdinand, gerrard just to name a few.. also they were not in euro 2008 and will be all guns blazing in africa, i think they dominate the group stage but everything after that they may burn out and so might the moments of magic, i dont see them winning, i give them an outside shot. Brazil, its been proven in the coupa america when the allstars are not playing they preform better most of the time, no ronaldo no ronaldinho, i think they will be very, very hard too beat and with the mentality they have they could easily go all the way. portugal i think will dissapoint, spain i think will dissapoint, mainly because there stars have had average seasons, germany i think will do well and holland i think will ease to the last 16. Right now im going with France

All I was trying to say is that I think Algeria has a good chance to survive the group stage. The USA and Slovenia are on an equal footing. Seems to be the weakest group of them all.
I think you're under-estimating USA. don't forget the USA are the only teaml tht has won over Spain since Euro 2008 (they won 2-0 in the semi-final of the 2009 Confederation Cup).

And carefull to Slovenia : They won over Russia during the 2nd round of the qualifications. Never under-estimate teams from former Yugoslavia, they all can be dangerous...

Looks like trouble brewing within Cameroon's squad. Looks like an ancient legend (Roger Milla?) called E'to overrated and that has E'to talking about quitting the team...

When will these old, forgotten legends learn to just shut the fuck up?

its really hard to predict a winner but I'd say one of the following teams will reach the final:
Brazil
Argentina
Spain
Italy

I like Espana but it's gonna be interesting to see how Torres, Fabregas, and Iniesta return seeing that all three are coming off injuries and haven't played much in the last few months.

I watched the Germans' first period against Hungary. I was impressed. When they play like this in South Africa, they're a serious contender. Very aggressive. Always behind the ball. Very quick, surprising passes.

Milla said Eto'o is a great player that acomplished great things in his club teams but that never did something important with his national team.

He's quite right but tellingt this now is just stupid.

ahahahahah some people actually voted for england hahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaa.

here's what i think:
argentina: maradona was a better as a player, and his team isn't doing very well. they struggled to qualify for the tournament, and i'd be surprised if they made it past the semi finals.

brazil: serious contender, as always.

germany: a lot of injuried players (ballack, and the goalie who got stabbed, yes stabbed, and in germany, not in south africa surprisingly enough), and the coach is inexperienced in a major tournament. we might reach the semis because germany has always played as a unit rather than individual players, and that might close the talent gap a bit. i think our chances of winning the cup are almost nil though.

england: quarter finals, at the most. even when they had talented players (lineker, pierce, gascoigne) they seldom played as a team, and always failed to achieve anything, this time, they don't really have any outstanding world-class talents, like messi or ronaldo.

italy: not sure about them, but i'd hate to see them win, because they cheated last time. first materazzi faked a foul to get a penalty kick, then they tattled on the germany vs argentina after-game brawl, to get a german player suspended. then in the final materazzi provoked zidane to get him ejected. they are cheaters, always have been, and always will be. and still they gloat when they win as though they had achieved their victory fair and square. no matter how good or bad they might be, they simply don't deserve to win.

portugal/france: might go far, but i don't know enough about them to say for sure.

south korea: they seem to work hard, and i wish them success.

my dream final would be germany vs england, but that's not going to happen. i think brazil vs portugal/france is more likely.

It is me or does the soccer city stadium look a bit plain and boring, i love stadiums because i see them as amazing pieces of art but this seems quite dull. Also it doesn't look like it holds nearly 100 000 people.

On the other hand, the Cape Town Stadium looks great and the Moses Mabhida Stadium looks good too.
