I'm going to throw this out there after having watched Arsenal/Stoke and seeing the tragedy of Aaron Ramsey's injury and the conduct of my Goons after...and seeing that poor Stoke player Shorcross walk off the pitch in tears.

Is it time for player dissent on the pitch to be eliminated from the game? I'd like everyone to answer that.

I just watched that game as well , theres no way Shawcross meant that , its just one of those things that happen and Im sure Ramsey wont blame him either , but as usual at clubs the tribal mentality kicks in and doesnt show some fans in a great light , but all clubs have a minority like this

And I would just red card the first one out of line & the rest would learn to shut up?

I know non Arsenal fans hate us gooners saying it, but why is it every other team's way of playing Arsenal is to do damage to their players? :2 cents:

I don't believe this was an intentional injury by the Stoke player. I'm an Arsenal fan. I think our players should've cared more about our fallen player than what the Ref was going to do in that situation. Arsenal have very little team spirit on the pitch. I don't see anyone encouraging anyone except after a score. If someone makes a mistake he should be encouraged to do better and not glared at with icy stares by his teammates.

Stoke tried, tactically, in my opinion (just from watching the game) to play it in the air because we are a short team and they are a team of giants. We have no size other than Bendtner and Sol Campbell. :dunno: Football is a fast paced game (made unnecessarily so by free kicks off the whistle) and terrible things can happen in the course of play :dunno:

I just think there is too much dissent by players and Refs need to start throwing around yellow cards a lot more than what they do lately.

I think there is so much money and pressure in every football match--either at the club level or international level--that the Refs almost have no power and can be bullied or intimidated into action.

Man I loved how Bridge ignored that low life scum, and then delivered some ass whuppin on Chelski, plus two red cards. Good day for Chelsea haters...:thefinger

Ha ha ha, and Leverkusen drew at home against a possible relegation club...:glugglug:

I've got nothing but respect for Bridge. If that had been my wife, I'd have done an OJ. :violent:

Wow, not bad, ManU 800 Million Euro in debt, really great work...ha ha ha! But hey, that's nothing compared to Real Madrid...:thefinger

If only UEFA would do something about it, but that bunch of thugs is more intrested in restricting fans and make football even more into a money machine.

I hope Rangers put the final nail in Mowbray's coffin today :thefinger

Edu scored in the last minute :1orglaugh

I wonder what the odds on that would have been , probably about 76543113454 to 1 and that would just have been for Edu being in Glasgow , nevermind playing and scoring

I might be persuaded that Shawcross held a grudge during the game because Cesc gave him a fairly tough talk which could've warranted a yellow but he didn't get anything for it. But that incident happened so much earlier in the match when the Ramsay injury occurred that it wasn't even brought up by the commentators. Ramsay had no impact on the game yesterday. If you intend to rough somebody up, aren't you (as a professional) supposed to choose someone who's had an impact on the game?

Here's another question--does the slide tackle need to be a part of the game anymore? Most defenders are skilled and physical enough to get the ball without diving out at it with their legs....

I don't think we'll be seeing Ramsay next season either, sadly...

1.) Shawcross didnt mean to hurt Ramsey, it was a bad touch on his part that made him lunge for the ball.

2.) Reffing in the EPL is pretty damn good when you compare it to other leagues and yes i think they should start throwing cards for dissent.

3.) yes the slide tackle needs to be part of the game.

It was an accident which he was correctly sent off for. However Wenger's comment have been overboard.

There is nothing wrong with a good hard tackle. preferabley fair.

i hate to say "i told ya", but I TOLD YA!

Porto 2 - 1 Arsenal

YESSSSSS!!!

Payback's a bitch, ain't it?

Nicklas Bendtner silenced his recent critics with a hat-trick as Arsenal saw off Porto in emphatic fashion to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

Details:

Arsenal 5 - 0 FC Porto (agg 6 - 2)

Read 'em and weep (and yes, I am gloating)...:1orglaugh

By the way...
Bayern Munich reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League on away goals after losing 3-2 to Fiorentina.

Fiorentina 3 - 2 Bayern Munich (agg 4 - 4)

Didn't Wenger say Bendter will come good against Porto like he did Walcott before the Burnley game?

He's clearly a visionary then.

Great fighting spirit by Bayern, two times two goals down, and then a super strike by Robben to make it 2-3.

Now bring on the English...:glugglug:
