2009/2010 WORLD Football (EPL, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, etc)

It seemed to me that Fergie ran his yap before today's match with Bayern and it came back to bite him in the today. :thefinger

Does anyone think Bayern vs Lyon will be close? I see this as a Bayern walk in the park...unless Ribery puts in an own goal ;) I'm sure he normally hates Lyon, but for the past 2 years, the stories in America about Bayern have been nothing more than Ribery wanting out of there to play with Barca or Chelski...

Will Ribery be Lyon's "secret weapon" :thefinger

Well Ribery is quite happy at Bayern. Hes said the only clubs hed consider leaving for are Real and Barca. Its been media making the hype. Unlike a guy like Chamakh. I do think Lyon def has a chance, but they need Lisandro at the top of his game. I feel Bordeaux woulda had a better chance though.

I think it will be either Torres or Villa that take home the golden boot, because i think Spain are going to win it.

I agree completely. I think Torres will shine bigtime. Spain should win, but if Maradona will grow up as a manager and check his own ego at the door, Argentina should be a real threat to win it. What's the line about Messi--the only person who's been able to shutdown Messi has been Maradona?

I think Brazil's main stars have underperformed this year, and I'm not confident they'll be able to turn it on in time to do much on the World Cup this year.

My other main fav--France--still have that clown Domenech in charge and will exit quickly from the WC.

I can't get a read on England and Germany. England seems the better squad, but Germany might pull it together :dunno:

Will this be the year than an African team makes it to the Semi Finals? I hope Beasley actually plays. He doesn't seem to factor into Bradley's starting lineups once he moved to defense for us.

I hope Clint Dempsey has a huge WC for Team USA. I also like Benny Feilhalber

Yeah, I think it will be clse. I even think Lyon could win. The whole team is good, particulary Lisandro (striker) and Lloris (GK). They've beaten Real Madrid, they could win Bayern Munchen...

:hatsoff:

So long as there are no more major injuries I think we have all the ingredients for a really entertaining World Cup. IMO it’s been a while since we had a really good one with a classic confrontation in the final.

If M&M (Maradona and Messi) can find a way to get Argentina to preform at their highest level in the WC, then I agree with titsrock that they will be one of the red hot favourites and my "tip" to win.

I'd put Maradona on the subs bench and bring him on in the final. I bet he's still got more in his locker than most ball players - I'm joking :)

I don't think England have much chance of winning but we have a very good manager and that Rooney is shit hot. :2 cents:

So who does everyone think will get relegated?
Portsmouth, Burnley and Hull?

Who gets the 4th spot and CL slot? I really have no idea. I'm leaning toward giving City the nod over s**rs.

Think you got it right there Titsrock. It's pretty much those teams who'll get relegated. I see Man City getting fourth spot but that is bad for Arsenal, Man United and even Chelsea because if Man City get champions league football they can get pretty much anyone they want to play for them.

I guess Neil Lennon won't be getting the Celtic job full-time...

Celtic slumped to one of the worst results in their history as First Division Ross County stunned the Glasgow giants at Hampden to reach the Scottish Cup final.

Celtic 0 - 2 Ross County

That big spending philosophy hasn't worked well for Madrid and ACMilan lately eh ;)

What will happen to Liverpool if City get the 4th spot? Will Liverpool unload everyone and become Fulham? :dunno:

WHat about Henrik Larsson to Celtic? Is that who the fans want?

Lol, I want Fulham to win that. Hope they do. Once Man City have champions league status they will make crazy bids for players. I could see someone like Cristiano Ronaldo going to city and getting paid truckloads of cash.

Nooo.....leaving Real Madrid, his dream team? After 1 year? Noo. I could believe that City might try to reunite Kaka and Ronaldhino, maybe....

They might try to get Torres from Liverpool, Villa and Cesc from us

Ronaldo has no loyalty and sulks when he doesn't win so could see him coming back to Premiership for money. As far as Kaka and Torres goes I would say no because they seem more loyal. Think Cesc will go but never to another British team. From his point of view who wouldn't want to play for Barcelona, the best team in the world, and when you add the fact that he comes from there it makes it very tempting for him, but you never know.

Hope he stays tho!

I agree, we will lose Cesc to Barca or Real someday. But if City offer us $150mil for him, we would be dumb not to take that. Let's face it, Fabregas to Adebayor worked quite well in the past ;)

I think City could try to put Torres, Villa together with Tevez. That would be scary.

We could then sign Roque Santa Cruz and maybe Chamakh?

Knew it was only a matter of time....

The North African terror group al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb has threatened to attack this summer's World Cup games in South Africa.

"How amazing could the match United States vs. Britain be when broadcasted live on air at a stadium packed with spectators when the sound of an explosion rumbles through the stands, the whole stadium is turned upside down and the number of dead bodies are in their dozens and hundreds, Allah willing," reads a statement the group published in a recent issue of the Jihadi online magazine Mushtaqun Lel Jannah (Longing to Paradise)

Qaeda Group Threatens to Attack World Cup

No suprise really - neither the US or UK are exactly loved by radical Islam these days.
Apparently though, this group are also claiming to target teams representing France, Germany and Italy, citing that "All those countries are part of the Zionist-Crusader campaign against Islam."

(and there was me thinking that France stood against the "coalition of the willing")

They can fuck off! Doubt it will happen. A friend of mine went to Dallas for the Pac-man Clottey fight and he said they were doing checks at the Dallas Stadium. I would assume they will check people for weapons and bombs at the entrance. Stupid a-holes. How does attempting to ruin people's fun become a just cause.

They did stand against it. They also are a trading partner with Iran. Islamofascist rhetoric is just huff-in-puff. In fact, a way to turn the world against them is for them to actually do something during the WC.

I agree - remember after 7/7 and the firebombing of various temples (both Muslim and non-Muslim)?
I think the WORST thing they could do is targeting the USA v England football match...

I just hope and pray we have a trouble free WC. We don't need any drama like in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Portsmouth, Hull, Wolves

Tottenham, but fingers crossed for Villa. Wouldnt be surprised if Everton took a Europa spot ahead of Liverfuckinpool and Villa.

Oh, and FUCK YEAH!!! FUCK REAL!! BITCHES!!! Couldnt score a single goal on us in either match. Who's the 1 player who performed well? The guy they want the fuck out, Guti. Imma laugh when he revives his career at Man City or Arsenal.
