All credit goes to Barca. I only watched the first half and then turned it off. I only did that because I got home late, turned on the tv and the damn ESPN ticker thingy *spoiled* the score for me. I was surprised we scored 1st and surprised that Barca didn't play as sharp as they did in London. Obviously Messi came to play and if he misfired a bit in London (or Alex Song might've actually played him tight) he was on fire tonight. The better team won. I wish it wasn't a blowout.
It would've been nice if we had RvP, Arshavin, Cesc and Gallas in the lineup.
The Champion's League final this year is Barcelona vs Inter. That should be a hell of a matchup with sub-plots galore. It should be a tight matchup. I really don't know who to root for. I think (from what I've seen) that Inter have been the better team all season long, however, nobody is playing better than Barca right now. They are peaking at the right time for sure.
I think the Goons have to realize that our starting 11 is good enough to win silverware. We just can't keep the starting 11 healthy for an entire season. When we have to go to the bench, we get exposed. It's not good that we have to choose between Sol Campbell and Mikael Silvestre as our backup Defenders, two players who were studs at one point but are now well past their primes.
We have to sign 1 A-quality striker for sure, and another Vermaelen type defender for sure. I think we need to part ways with Gallas, Nasri or Rosicky, and Arshavin. I don't think Arshavin wants to be in the EPL and we might be able to sell him to Italy or Spain for a decent price. Nasri and Rosicky are gifted with the ball, but they're slow and we don't have room both of them anymore. I'd rather have Diaby, Eboue and Denilson. Our 2011 midfield starters should be Diaby, Cesc, Song, Walcott.
We need to sell quality players in order to be able to sign other quality players to fill needs we actually have. Bendtner, Vela and Eduardo aren't enough as striker options.
