Does anyone think Bayern vs Lyon will be close? I see this as a Bayern walk in the park...unless Ribery puts in an own goal ;) I'm sure he normally hates Lyon, but for the past 2 years, the stories in America about Bayern have been nothing more than Ribery wanting out of there to play with Barca or Chelski...

Ribery is kind of a diva here in Munich. Everyone was happy that we signed him (along with Luca Toni). We're still thrilled to have him, because he is one of the best, but his antics on and off the pitch have lost him a lot of credit with the fans. On the pitch he rarely works on defense, and when he's doubled or trebled and can't put on his show he soon loses the fun in playing and nothing will work for the rest of the match. You can't have that, not as the club that pays his bills. But that's the way he is, still a little boy that likes to play football and make a ton of money doing so. And being a little boy has provided us with some funny stories like when he crashed the team bus in Dubai.

And now that Robben is here and playing like he does, he's not the main focus any longer. But the real problem is his agent, who wants to make money off of him by transferring him to a bigger club. It has always been this guy (or these guys) who sparked transfer talks, not Ribery himself. He just answered questions if he could see himself playing for an even bigger club.

Of course I would love for him stay, but it wouldn't be the end of Bayern if he doesn't, because we will make a shitload of money from that transfer and bring in new exciting players to star alongside Robben and Kroos who will be returning to Bayern from Leverkusen and who will be a future star.

As far as the CL semis are concerned, the Lyon matchup will be everything else than a walk in the park. We have always struggled against french teams (2-2-2- all time record against Lyon or two losses this season vs Bordeaux) and Lyon has put down Real Madrid in amazing fashion. But when those two horrible Bordeaux games can do us any good it gives us a fair warning the players won't take this semifinal lightly or have their eyes on Barca already. We may be favorites by a small margin on papers, but that doesn't say anything. Personally I have a lot of respect for Lyon's CL season, because I wouldn't have thought they can pull that off without Benzema. But once again we see that a real team is not one player.

Is somewhere outhere.
I think they will personally be too busy watching it on telly supporting
Algeria than planning an attack.

If anything there will be a race war going on between the natives and
the Afrikaanas.I'm glad Scotland aren't there as I would be worried
about going there right this summer.

Great to see Ross County get a place in Europe next season :thefinger

Well done Pompey!!!!:nanner:

Crisis club Portsmouth will meet Chelsea in the FA Cup final after two goals in extra time see them stun Tottenham at Wembley.

Details:
Tottenham 0 - 2 Portsmouth

Well this is shit.

The Goons look like a team that doesn't want to or care to play today. We are down 0-2 against spurs. The first goal was a wunderstrike. Nothing to do about that one. The second goal was simple.

We look like a team that wants the season to be over. :( We're comfortable finishing 3rd. :dunno:

Yes, injuries are taking their toll on the team but all we did in the first half was dribble around the box.

A very poor day for the Goons. Understandably, the best player on our team in this game is Sol Campbell.

F**king Spurs fans. I dealt with too many of those smug a-holes tonight on the way back from White Hart Lane. Then I check my facebook when I get home and it's messages from even more smug spurs fans. (Yes, I have Spurs friends, no one's perfect!) Enjoy the win Tottenham fans. It is the highlight of your season.

:thefinger PS - Manchester City = 4th champions league spot! :thefinger

Well Aston Villa ain't gonna get 4th, but that Everton draw is a good result as far as 6th and the Europa League is concerned. That pretty much ends Everton's chances, and Liverpool is just one point ahead, but we got a game in hand.

And btw, l'OM are now 5 points clear at the top in Ligue 1.

I am somewhat disappointed. First loss to the spuds in 20 games, and a s**t time to do it. We needed our captain today and should have won with the amount of possession.

It wasn't like they dominated us. They barely hung on. There is a clear gap between us and them. We just looked hung over on the pitch. None of our players were willing to take them 1-on-1 and get into the box. Walcott sometimes is the only guy willing to do that for us...

I love how Wenger is yapping to the papers about Chelski and spurs today  spurs have to beat chelski in order to prove their CL credentials (which is actually true) [but they really need to beat Chelski so we can still have a shot at the title:rofl:]

Who will buy Arsenal now that Lady Underhill (?) wants to sell out? I think the Russian would spend money on players while Stan Kroenke would simply look to grow revenue and profit.

I want to throw this out to the Goons here....who do we really want to get the 4th slot in the CL?

I vote for sp**s because I dont think they really are close to doing anything; they won't actually spend crazy cash on players. If Man City get the 4th spot, they will spend crazy cash and that will be more of a threat to us for the Premiership and the CL, I think...

NEVER, EVER, Spurs...I had to endure a godawful day listening to their fans being all high and mighty in the office.....

I'm also worried about Man City's spending power, so I'd plump for either Liverpool or Aston Villa....but if City does gets that spot, it could also be the kick in the ass Arsenal needs. I don't want any takeover at the club (look at Liverpool and Portsmouth), but I also believe we need financial clout to go to the next level and compete with the big boys...

(PS: to SKY TV - PLEASE stop showing the Arse on 3D-TV...every time we've appeared in 3D, we've lost...:()

Well, even the janitor has his day every once in awhile ;)

How the hell are you watching sports in 3D??

We are sooo far behind the Brits in all things technology-related

Why couldn't Tottenham have played like that against Portsmouth. If they had won, I believe that would have ensured Aston Villa in the Europa League (as the FA Cup rep) since Chelsea and Spurs are already ensured spots in Europe pretty much. I guess we'll earn it the hard way. And btw, if not Villa, I'm pulling for Spurs, cuz fuck Liverpool, and fuck Man City's Real Madrid-ness in spending (and y'all are right it does make them more dangerous in signing new players). I would make the argument that Redknapp is the 3rd best manager in the Premier League. I'm still scared of him signing away Ashley Young.

Liverpool may still finish 7th which is out of Europa. Crazy stuff.

Spurs fans were passing this joke around:

"The BBC have reported a huge cloud over the UK causing all airports to close. Police are interviewing the cleaner who dusted the Arsenal trophy cabinet."

As for 3D TV - the football matches were shown in selected pubs by SKY TV...

What kinda saddens me about that draw is that Everton now has three straight draws in games they should have won. They beat City but then drew against Wolves, blew a lead against West Ham, and the own goal, I was not very impressed by Howard's effort. That's six points down the drain.

I read somewhere that Portsmouth does not have some sort of licence to play in Europe. Which means 7th still gets Europa am I correct?

Not bad. Pretty funny. Of course without the Carling Cup they'd have more dust on their case than us.
