2009/2010 WORLD Football (EPL, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, etc)

I would normally say Chelsea at home should be able to pull through, especially with the away goal. But i've just read they're playing Russ Turnball in goal, because of the illness to Cech and Hilario which is a big concern.

I'm still going for Chelsea but only just.

I actually think Inter are going to win. Strangely, I'm not sure Chelksi is focused at the moment.

Arsenal have a cakewalk remaining schedule. Only spudz and Manchitty pose threats at DRAWS. We should be favored to win every remaining league game (assuming we get Cesc back).

But, I'm going to be honest and say I would rather have the Goons win the Champion's League than the Premiership. Simply put, we got thumped by chelski and couldn't pull out wins against the mancs after thoroughly beating them off the pitch both games. Who have really beaten in the league this year? The Everton destruction was the best result  Sweeping liverpool doesn't really mean much this season. They suck ass. We lost badly to mancity. Beat spuds.

It hasn't really been a great league campaign. If we win because Chelski and manu falter down the stretch, sure, I'll take it but I think we can stake a better claim at being the World's best team if we win the CL, imo.

Unfortunately, even if Arsenal did when the league all the Chelsea and Man U fans would never let us Goons forget that they beat Arsenal home and away.

They have to win the world club championship after they win the Champions league to be the best in the world , they are just the best in Europe if they win the CL , but if they win the CL they will be in with a shout at the next WCC , you can never rule out the S.American teams

You called it to perfection, sir. :glugglug: :glugglug:

Ha ha ha...Inter players knew exactly how to push the Chelsea buttons, but additionally, the Blues really played a pathetic match. Well deserved win for Inter after one genius Sneijder moment and cold blood execution by Eto'o.

Even more surprising, CSKA advanced to the quarters by beating Sevilla 2:1 in Spain...thanks to Andres Palop.

Im shocked Sevilla lost at home. Palop is usually fantastic. If he was from just about anywhere else, hed have an accomplished international career.

I am not shocked Chelsea lost. Inter has consistently been 1 of the 2 best clubs in the world the last few years.

Side note, Chelsea are terrible losers. I almost thought they were trying to injure someone towards the end there. And they whined the whole time. You know, like last year.

And 1 year later I still cant believe Iniesta's goal. Fuck yeah.

Barça demolished Stuttgart (who btw are disappointments, they were my Bundesliga title favorites). Bordeaux tried like hell to blow their tie with Olympiacos but are thru. I have them as 2nd favorites after Barcelona. Laurent Blanc will probably be coaching Real Madrid at this time next year. Or Liverpool.

It's good to be the king...
Football IS a funny old game....

Fulham produced a stunning second-leg comeback against nine-man Juventus to make the Europa League quarter-finals.

Details:
Fulham 4 - 1 Juventus (agg 5 - 4)

GO FULHAM! Loved that game! What's the betting all the Fulham fans will be having a dig at Chelsea! At least Fulham could beat a big Italian team! lol

OM imploded in the last 15 minutes against Benfica. At least theres still the league, where they're making headway.

Oh, and Lez Femmez, they made some great signings like Pogrebnyak and Hleb over the summer. and them winning a few years ago and Wolfsburg winning last year were both surprises. They were def contenders going in. And recent form proves it. They were doomed by a terrible start (similar to Roma in Serie A last season). They are definitely not inferior.

Okay, to be fair, here's what I thought when I learned about that Pogrebnyak signing: "Damn, it's gonna be hard to beat 'em"

I was a little bit disappointed that Bayern didn't sign him, because I really liked his performance in UEFA cup two years ago (when we played Zenit in the semis). But almost like Tymoschchuk at Bayern he couldn't get things right in Stuttgart. Now with the new coach he seems to finally have found his place in the team.

Hleb in my opinion is one of the most overrated players in Europe and I'm still praying every night that he won't go to Bayern. Lehmann is round about 50 years old and his antics on and off the pitch are pathetic, and he's lightyears away from top form. Hitzlsberger (who now plays with Lazio) couldn't handle the pressure being captain, Marica is a total bust and everyone else is slightly above average at best. So my final verdict remains the same, an inferior team. Okay, you can't compare any team right now to Barca, but ZERO shots on goal during 90 minutes of play is hands down pathetic.

(But all this may be explained, here's my personal hate list of German football clubs:

1. TSV 1860 München
2. 1. FC Nürnberg
3. VfB Stuttgart
...)

I see your point but I said they WERE my favorites, as in before the season began 5 months ago. And I hate Bayern lol, I really dont have a fave a German club, I guess I root for Werder Bremen to win and Bayern to lose :p

Arsenal v Barca in the Champion's League. The title goes through the defending champs. Might as well take on 'em now and get 'em outta the way.

I don't think I've read a single non-Goon analyst give the Goons a chance to beat Barca. This really has the feeling of the matchup where the overwhelming favorite gets defeated. I think we'll see 3-2 Arsenal in the first leg, 2-1 Arsenal in the second :thefinger

Im a Barca fan, and Im more scared of Arsenal more than any other English side. Cuz they actually play real football and not that ugly crossing shit. It'll be nice to see a preview of Cesc before he comes to Barca. XD

Theres no way we'll allow 5 goals, we have a great defense, not to mention about 97% possession. If we lose, it'll be due to lack of scoring due to overpassing, which was our problem before Pep. Or Valdes will do something stupid. It is March, so it is Valdes-fuckup season.

tartanterrier

Is somewhere outhere.
I think Barca will win easliy as Messi will run the show and I
still think the Goons defense isn't up to scratch either.

But it should be a great game to see.Probably the best one out
of the round :)

I think Arsenal's defense, without Gallas, will be very shaky. I like Sol Campbell against Hull City or Stoke, not against Barcelona. If we don't have a backline of Sagna, Gallas, Vermaelen, Clichy than it will be difficult for the Goons to keep Barca at bay. If Gallas isn't available, I wonder if Song will slide back to cover Gallas's spot and Eboue moves into Midfield? I don't see Sol Campbell playing for us if Gallas is injured.

Arsenal need to sign an actual #1 keeper next season. Almunia doesn't ever "play big" in big games. He's really a good #2 masquerading as a #1.

But, I don't buy that Barca will have the bulk of possession. They may have more, but the Goons know how to protect the ball too:D

It should be amazing.

Oh man Leverkusen will never get the title. :1orglaugh
0:3 against Dortmund (yessss!) :glugglug:

Hopefully Schalke wins tomorrow (honestly)
