I'm hoping Michigan has a repeat of last season. That Ohio State, USC, Florida and Texas all lose a game just after the middle of the season and they're all taken out of the BCS equation. If the Irish go 8-4 or 7-5 Charlie Weiss will still have a job.
On the hot seat?
Dave Wannstedt-I've never liked him as a head coach. I'm sure he's a nice guy but he should be a coordinator instead of a head coach.
Lane Kiffin-His mouth has been writing checks his ass can't cash. If he loses more than three games he'll get the axe.
Les Miles-LSU fans have been spoiled and going 8-5 last year didn't endear him.
Rich Rodriguez-I'm surprised he survived after last season.
Gene Chizic-Auburn lured him away from a, um, powerhouse Iowa State program. He had better produce quickly or he'll be gone.
Stever Spurrier-He's under .500 in the SEC but then again he's got to play Florida, Alabama, Georgia and a host of other much better teams.
It's a little early to make an informed guess as to who will win the BCS Title but if I had to, I'd go with...and it makes me cringe to write this: Florida. They have everything going for them and you'd be hard pressed to find a team with more talent.
What about darkhorse choices? Mine is Iowa. Yes I'm a little biased in that choice as it is my alma mater and I played there. But last year they lost four games by a total of 12 points and they knocked off a heavily favored Penn State in Iowa City. They have a decent quarterback returning in Rich Stanzi and they always have a great offensive line. They lost a couple of four year starters on the defensive line but this year the strength will be in the linebacker corps.
Unless he suffers a catastrophic injury I think Tim Tebow will win the Heisman Trophy again. Colt McCoy will finish a distant second in the voting. Sam Bradford will get a few votes as well but his team won't even make it to the Big 12 championship.
