In rushing defense, he's right, UF was 13th, next best was LSU at 44th. :2 cents:

Gerhart faced ASU (18th), Arizona (22nd), Cal (27th) and Oregon (38th)

Gerhart got ROBBED! :bs:

As much as I love Gerhart...he was nowhere near "robbed". He did well to finish 2nd for playing on a 4 loss team.

Like I said, Ingram is the most valuable player on what is the best team now....

Like it or not...that's just how it's gonna go down when it comes to the Heisman...

The Heisman will NEVER be about per se stats or competition you face...it's about the play and plays of a player which impact intangible circumstances during the season.

Heisman trophy winners are akin to Justice Potter Stewart's explaining of pornography....you can't describe them, you just know them when you see them.

Gerhart was well represent for his efforts....to be not on the radar when the season started to finishing no. 2 I would say the voters acquitted him quite well.

I think any one of the top 4 candidates for the Trophy could have won it... but Ingram set himself apart with huge games against tough opponents and lead his team to the BCS CG. McCoy was the closest to INgram in this regard, but did not have very good numbers against the few good defense he played against this year. Suh would have been my #1, but as a UA alum, I'm glad to see a great kid like Mark bring home long overdue a trophy to T-town.

No doubt, great kid.

Did the winner ever cry like a baby! How embarrassing!

I wonder if Kleenex will offer him a big contract now.

yea must have been embarrassing , being awarded the heisman trophy.. i think them was tears of joy hes a special guy..reminds me of the night the group ALABAMA turn the music awards into the alabama show..when they run to the stage to get the many awards..they needed a truck to get them all home

Peyton Manning finished second in the Heisman and lost out to Charles Woodson. He was projected to be the #1 overall draftpick and, we'd have to say, has FAR EXCEEDED his pro expectations....

Shaun Alexander has been the only Bama NFL talent that has mattered in recent memory. Maybe there's an obscure OL or DL on some team somewhere...but by and large Bama has not fed the NFL with difference-makers. That will change, but probably not with Ingram...

i dont know what your problem is with ingram..but i bet he does as good as some of them hot shot qb that come from them rinky dink colleges that fell flat on face....he ran through that defence for florida, whats he gotta do to be special in your eyes? before that game,,some of you said it couldnt be done, but ingram done what nobody else could do.

He has to be the difference-maker in the National Title game against probably the best defense in all of College Football. Texas has just as many future NFL studs on Defense as Florida has. Florida's Defensive Coordinator, Charlie Strong, had a head coaching job on his mind instead of Satan and the Crimson Tide:eek::mad: That Texas D won't be as distracted as that Florida D obviously was...

smoknn, are you aware that most Heisman winners blow it in their bowl games? They play like shit. History suggests that Ingram, because of winning the Heisman, will automatically be a Jake in the big game:dunno::tongue::thefinger

I see a low, low scoring National Champ game. Maybe not 10-6, but 14-13 is probably right...

^Though I share your lack of impress with most things "South"...I can't go along with you on this. If Cincy was actually considered "South" it might be the cultural capital of the South!!!! (Florida is not part of the South anymore, thank god)

Cincy > Cleveland :yesyes:

The Bearcats may have been an athletic joke from the beginning of time until they hired Huggy Bear and now Brian Kelly. Cincy football ain't a joke anymore--if they hire Kevin Sumlin from Houston, maybe they'll be able to keep the ball rollin' in the Big Least....

It's not bad to be a school with a MAIN RIVAL (Michigan) and a Pest Rival (Cincy)...:dunno:

I like how SC has ND (Main Rival) and ucla (Pest Rival :thefinger)...the year is twice as good!!

Penn St is our other main rival.

Some names are leaking out here in Big 10 country. Schools that are being rumored include:

Pittsburgh
Iowa State
Missouri
Syracuse
Rutgers
Notre Dame
Nebraska
Colorado

Notre Dame won't join a conference. It may happen in the future, but not now, not with a new coach, not with new hope.

Notre Dame simply doesn't need a conference to score television coverage and bowl-game spots. They are capable of recruiting fine without the conference ties and they have no shortage of opponents willing to play in South Bend or to host the Irish.

If this coach doesn't work out, NBC will dump them, then they may be looking for a conference to join...

just my $0.02, and I don't know shit.

We are still a year or more away from this happening. I don't think Notre Dame will join and I don't think the Big 10 will ask. The Big 10 wants a public University.

Although, with the Big 10 network, that might change things.

He'll most likely still get that call from Kleenex!

Closest race in Heisman history. Guess there wasn't a true favorite and whoever won in the end just really got lucky.

Shitty Pat Hill just got a contract extension. Yikes. He has peaked long ago, he is a stale coach there. I guess it doesn't take much to con the Fresno State athletic dept to keep that guy around...:dunno:

Are the Georgia sharks swimming around Mark Richt?? Been hearin' things.....

I believe Richt took a lot of the supposed heat off himself by defeating Ga Tech to end the regular season. He's only lost the the Jackets 1 time(?), is that right. It's hard to fire a coach that owns their is state rival.

I would what out for The U next season, they played a bunch of freshman this season, I think they are just going to get better and better as tiimes goes on.

Include Texas A&M on that list. Pretty much their team was made up of freshman, including a soph stud QB.

Out of those schools...this is the only one that's a good fit.
Pittsburgh

Notre Dame is the logical choice, but as lurking mentioned until NBC cancels the contract, ND is going to remain solo for the $$$gravy train$$$

Avoid all Big12 teams.

I would LOVE to see Pitt go to the Big 10 and bolster not only Pitt but the Big 10 as well.
