Just watched it.

I have no problem with it. Nor did I have a problem when Stanford went for two against USC a couple of weeks ago.

It's a rivalry game! That's what you do. Didn't Rick Neuweazel have a giant ad in the paper saying "the monopoly in LA is over"? Maybe he should try backing up his statement.

Yes he did. I think it was bought by the ucla athletic dept actually. I thought that was a great move by them. He has bruin blood in his veins and, yes, they have had massive injuries but I think bruin fans had reason to think they would be better than they are. He has to be on the hotseat for next season. He didn't try any gimmick plays, rush our punter. He and Chow didn't offer much. They didn't hire him to miss out on bowl games...why was he a better coach in Colorado and UDub?

Many years ago, Wayne Woodrow Hayes went for two against that state up north to make it an even 50. When asked why he went for two, Woody said, "because I coudn't go for three."

I was fine with Stanford going for 2 late on us when they had blown us out. I thought it was a classless move my Harbaugh but I hoped it would atleast WAKE UP the Trojans and our anemic asst coaches. Weazel tried to fuck with us again and he got punked.

We'll see you in turdwood next year bruins.

We better even the score against Stanford next year at the Farm. We clearly didn't learn our lesson in 2007 when Harbaugh called out PC and delivered on the upset....

All's quiet at Notre Dame. They can't work on Sundays, you see.

We'll expect an announcement tomorrow before noon, however.

What a choke Weis' career as head coach has been. Anyone think another team is going to hire him?

Speaking of which, what is Tyrone Willingham doing these days?

Hmm. Doesn't sound too lame actually. If Haley flames out then Pioli has a ready replacement. I never heard anything about Charlie Weis's talent evaluation skills in NE. He clearly doesn't have much talent evaluation (or development) in the college level....

^actually he does seem to have some talent evaluation skills at the college level. Clausen, for example, will turn into an excellent NFL quarter back, and would have been an exceptional college quarter back with the right coaching.

He just isn't a leader.

Seriously about Clausen? I don't see much of an NFL career for Jimmy. I think Golden Tate might be the next Steve Smith (Carolina Panther). I might get aboard the Golden Tate bandwagon....

^^
serious about Clausen. Watch him live, and you see him not only making a lot of yards happen, you see him controlling his team and changing plays at the line (you just don't see that shit on tv). While I don't think he'll be the same quality, his game time execution reminds me of payton Manning. Put an exceptional offensive line in front of him, give him a great coach, and you're going to see really good things. He's even learning to use his legs to make plays. He's on the way up.

Golden Tate will have a great career. He's also going to benefit from a good coach and a professional setting. He'll drop fewer balls.

but they not only take it, they run to get it done. meh, this is an impossible discussion we should have again in a couple years when he's had a good try in the nfl. i think he'll be twice the quarter back that brady quinn ever could be.

That's still one of the best NCAA football coach quotes of all time.

Not really, TR.

All the Bruin fans I know were very pragmatic about this season. Somewhere around 6 and 6 was the expectation and that's where they ended up. You have to understand that thanks to Dwayne Walker Neuheisel inherited a solid core of fine defensive players. But on the offensive side Dorrell left the school so bereft of impact players it's almost hard to believe. Case in point: the Bruins tailback core is so inexperienced and or mediocre they had a journeyman fullback playing that position the last three games this season.

Rick won't be feeling any real heat until 2011. If he doesn't turn the program around by then things could get dicey. A major concern might be Chow leaving before then. It's got to be frustrating for him to have to dumb down his game plan to suit the sub par personnel he currently has to work with.

After some contemplation about the end of last night's USC/ucla game, I still say it was not running up the score, but it was one rival responding to the disrespect of another rival.

I've thought about it more too, and though I can more or less see Carroll's point in principle, the problem for me remains the celebratory taunting that followed the play. That obviously wasn't just about competing, Pete. It was strictly Bush League. For a supposed national powerhouse to act that way after catching a mediocre, beaten team unprepared to defend against a deep ball says a lot about how brittle USC's self image is at the moment.

Definitely not the stuff of champions.

Beyond that, it was an irresponsible thing to do on a deeper level. The Bruin players naturally reacted angrily to the taunting, both teams surged onto the field and a huge brawl was narrowly averted. Some of those Bruins are seniors who've never beaten USC, which made the taunting all the more provocative. Even after that, with everybody's blood up the way it was, there was a good chance another incident might erupt during the playing of the final 40 seconds.
