Predictions for 2012 Republican Presidential Candidates?

His approval ratings are lower than Bush right now and continue to fall.

Where does that link make the point that Obama's approval ratings are lower than Bush's were?

Bush's lowest approval ratings were anywhere from 22 to 28 pct. depending on the source. Obama's is that low right now?

As for Obama's reelection prospects, as long as the economy continues to improve he'll easily win.

I wouldn't be so sure about that...If Obama loses it will be because the people who voted for him don't recognize his policies...It won't have anything to do with whatever the GOP does IMO.

His policies on Libya, in Afghanistan are really big sticking points for many of those who voted for him. If he continues to cede ground to the GOP on issue after issue...he will be a one term president. Progressives and Demos elected him to be something different and stand up... Compromising and ceding ground on point after point will most certainly lose him far more supporters than it will ever win over from the other side.

The support for Obama among his supporters is fairly lukewarm. The only thing that can turn that is pretty large scale successes here over the next year...IMO.

For all of the policies he's engaged in there aren't any Obama moments...That is, something he can point to as a monumental success or he where he stood his ground and won something.

Bush isn't President anymore, ergo his approval ratings at this point are irrelevant. As for Obama's reelection prospects, as long as the economy continues to improve he'll easily win.

With gas prices now hovering around the $4 mark, debt in the trillions, Premium Link Upgrade , barely any GDP growth in the last couple years, government with no fiscal discipline as it was promised, with a monstrosity of healtcare "reform" bill that will have a cost of trillions being ****** down our throats, with his lack of leadership during the BP fiasco and during the Iran protests and during Libya and then taking too long until he finally decided to send more troops to Afghanistan as the generals had suggested in the first place, with his subordinating America's interests to other country's (Brazil, China, Cuba, Russia and Mexico can drill in the Gulf of Mexico but we can't drill in our own part of the gulf?), come 2012....Barack, YOU'RE FIRED!

No, that doesn't mean I'd like to see Trump on the ticket, but I'd sure hold my nose and vote for him to get this regime out, and I'm sure lots of people would feel the same way after everything I just listed up there. My preference would be for Pawlenty on the ticket but I'd vote for just about...well, forget the just about, I'd vote for ANYONE on the (R) ticket. So, if you libs decide to vote in open primaries for Sarah Palin to make her the (R) candidate to ensure an Obama victory....

From your link...the u/e rate was 8.5 pct when Obama came into office (Jan '09).:2 cents:

Remember, that link you post isn't seasonally adjusted either.

But what was the AVERAGE throughout W's 2 terms? The highest it got was about 6% in what was supposed to be "THE WORST ECONOMY SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION" when we were all "ONE PAYCHECK AWAY FROM LOSING IT ALL!" April 08 was 4.8% and that's when it started going up, at the tail end of W's last term (and after the media giving us all those stories about how awful the economy was). Now, during Clinton's last few months it went up also but for some reason I got this theory that the unemployment rate and the economy will usually worsen during the months leading to a presidential election when there's uncertainty of "is the new pres going to be business friendly"? "Can I start hiring more people or should I make cuts to make up for any increase in taxes"?

So to begin with, O-face had an 8.5% unemployment rate, but if the guy really knows what he's doing, shouldn't he have done even better than Bush's average of 5%? Or at least even better than W's worst of 6.5%? I mean, he's been in power for 2 years already. Even after 2 years of Bush the unemployment rate wasn't this high.

And don't get me started about gas prices

1.) Re average u/e rate under Bush being 5%: I suppose so when he was handed an u/e rate under 4%. The reason why it's theorized Bush ended his presidency in the midst of the worst economy since the depression was because of the mortgage crisis, bank failures, auto industry failure AND a high u/e rate. That confluence of circumstances hadn't been seen since the Depression.:2 cents:

2.) See point 1 about the u/e rate Clinton handed off to Bush.

3.) Re Obama and 8.5 u/e rate: Uh, before he made a single decision the rate was 8.5 and climbing when he was inaugurated. How pray-tell is he supposed to average a lower u/e rate in just 2 years when he was handed a higher one that was going higher???

Reagan was handed a 7.4 pct. u/e rate and climbing. Do you know that it was 2.5 years before it fell under 10 pct?:2 cents:

R/S I think you need to do a little more research. Your beliefs are at odds with what's reasonable in some cases and the facts in others.

Gas prices....yeah...you shouldn't get started because that is the main reason we're in this mess to begin with IMO. The oil industry was recording record profit after record profit fueled by the mess we created in Iraq. Every other industry in the economy may have suffered during the Bush administration but the oil industry and the Texas economy which thrives off of it didn't. What a coincidence.:mad:

America as a Constitutional Republic once again.

The Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence.

Darrell Castle

We must return to constitutional government, thereby re-establishing and re-claiming our government of, by, and for the people! Then the Constitution will once again be regarded as the Supreme Law of the Land and the American people will once again be grateful for the freedoms it protects.

Happy Constitution Day!

I love how people blame Obama for Bush ****. All the budgetary problems can be traced back to the Bush tax cuts of 2001. Stupid is as stupid does. Obama isn't any better because he didn't have the balls to say no to the republicans on extending the damn things. Got to give those tax breaks to billionaires, though, right? Breaking the back of the middle class isn't a long-term winning strategy.

And this post is exactly why it's highly likely that Savior O is a one-term president. Liberals (his own constituents) are more upset him than anyone. And people on here actually believe it's going to be a walkover. :nono:

Not to derail but isn't there a big election in Canadia coming up like right now? I realize that the NHL playoffs are under way but this 2012 US stuff is a little far off.

There is!

Our government (Conservatives) got itself found in contempt of its own Parliament and thus have ****** us back to the polls - for the 4th time in seven years.

I think Schwarzenegger might be running.

If there are judicial positions open and he gets to wear a powdered wig then I think I just came.

Pssst. Nobody cares about Canada. :nono:

The Canucks are totally bringing that **** home this year. Haha, who am I kidding!

I kept trying to think of what was the last Canadian team to bring the cup home yesterday. All I could think of was '89 Fluery Flames. I totally forgot about the '93 Roy Habs and '90 Oilers. That's a helluva drought.
