Even with Obama's poor approval rating I can't see the Republicans - given their current political incarnation - choosing anyone who's sane enough to have enough appeal with the undecided voter to make any difference. If it does turn out in the end to be Obama Vs. Palin, the Republicans are in trouble.

If someone can convince him to run, Patraeus would be a viable candidate in my opinion.

2012? Are you kidding? Palin all the way.

She rolls in on North Korea, China rolls in on Taiwan in response, and when we move the 7th Fleet toward the island, they get taken out by Chinese Silkworm Missiles. We launch on China, China launches on us. Indian and Pakistan follow suit. Russia nukes New Zealand just for good measure. Game over. World ends.

2012 y'all!

What do you all think? Have a favorite? A list of front runners? Those that you would hate to see run?

The nutbags at this site list Palin as #1 :

CBS has a nice list of possibles: http://www.cbsnews.com/2300-250_162-10004016-13.html

I think formidable front runners include Pawlenty, Thune, Patreus, Gingrich, Romney, Barbour, and Daniels, among others. From that list I see Pawlenty roasting Obama in debates. Pawlenty has also done some solid work as commander in chief of Minnesota. Therefore, at this point, I will predict Pawlenty.

And dear God, if they put up another Bush (Jeb) I will seriously throw up.

I sure hope Pawlenty doesn't end up being their guy. He is a total lightweight if you ask me.

I'd much rather see Romney get the nomination.

i would like to see mitt romney or bobby jindal, but please no pawlenty, he totally fucked over minnesota's deficit by increasing spending while not increasing taxes

I think BillO the Clown or Glenn Tears of a Clown Beck will be your 2012 GOP nominee. It's what Rupert would prefer.

The Paul crowd wasn't too happy with Murdoch last go'round:

As much as I enjoy my RedEye and O'Reilly, come voting time for the most part I take their "focus groups" with a grain of salt.

Postal Paranoiac
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sergeant Slaughter.

I would like it if Huckabee ran. Also, I think Jagger mentioned Rick Perry. The Republicans would have a better shot with either of them than Palin.

Ooooh, would all his speeches start, "Listen up, maggots!" If so, then I'm in.

Too bad for Huckabee he said he'd legalize twenty to thirty million illegals. Nope. Traitors will never receive my vote. Would be a cold day in hell before that happened, which is a shame because Huckabee had some decent stances otherwise. If that douche would've said NO FUCKIN WAY, it might be a different story today.

I doubt that. O-daddy lumbered him with Afghanistan for a reason he might have posed, losing another unpopular war will help take the shine off him and mitigate any threat he would pose as a candidate.

Then again it is the American electorate we're talking about here.....

I wanna see Gingrich. Anyone who supports the Fair Tax goes a long way in my book.

They'll have passed legislation by then to allow the Governator to take a shot at the big chair...

You really have no idea how long it takes to amend The Constitution, do you? ;)

A little over 8 months to the Primaries, beginning to look like no one really wants it.

Best guess a Romney/Huckabee ticket.

AFK..being taken to the vet to get neutered.
After running their lamest ducks out last time to ensure a thrown election to the Dems - and therefore the ability to point and gloat as the woefully unprepared Obama struggled with the clusterfuck he and his token-boosting sponsors inherited - the GOP needs solid, Conservative, credibility .....

Petraeus is the best bet: war hero, reasonably competent strategist (albeit, one whom failed 'history is doomed to repeat itself unless we learn from it' 101 - mind you, so did every other West Point graduate of the past 50 years), and the man who got handed the biggest stick of shit dynamite in history - command of US presence and action in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Central Asia, the Arabian Peninsula, and Egypt and DIDN'T screw it up more (yet)..... that alone makes him more qualified than anyone else.

Also, with no prostate, no chance of Clinton-esque boo-boos and, with a brain, no chance of Bush-esque boo-boos.

Mind you, that Greek name ... kinda gay, don'tcha think?

Bachmann, Palin or Romney.

2 Members of the Tea-Party and 1 Mormon that would scare the "moderate" Republican voters and cause the failure of the party.

Some great choices there....

Petraeus is duplicitous, dishonest, treasonous, smooth and commands mucho gushing love from the media so yeah, a perfect candidate for president.

It's amazing that whichever of the wars he's posted to run all of a sudden the outlook turns from bleek to 'victory is near'. Wow! What a guy!
