Hulk Hogan’s status for the ‘Mania PPV

In yet another interview with Bubba The Love Sponge, Hulk Hogan said that his only scheduled role for WrestleMania weekend is to induct “Mean” Gene Okerlund into the Hall Of Fame.

Hogan told Vince recently, “If anything comes up interesting, match wise or an opponent, give me a shout-out and we’ll see if we can hook it up.”

The Hulkster said he has yet to hear back about a match possibility.

Reports, however, suggest that Hulk Hogan turned down the possibility of a “Legends Match” with Greg “The Hammer” Valentine.

Other reports state that WWE was, at one point, looking into running either Hulk Hogan vs. The Big Show or Hulk Hogan vs. Dalip. It is not known if he was ever actually offered one of those opponents.

I loved Valentine back in the day but damn, Hogan vs Valentine in a legends match would suck.

What’s on tap for Monday’s RAW?

WWE.com confirmed the John Cena-Triple H contract signing for Monday’s RAW.

“With just days remaining before they are forced to co-exist as teammates at Saturday Night’s Main Event, will this naturally combustible situation explode?” the website says.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Rob Van Dam for the IC Title is also scheduled.

Just saw this awesome news

The News Is True

The WWE is apparently listening to the internet fans, as Jim Ross will make his return to the announce booth for Saturday Night’s Main Event. Ross will also be at the Hall of Fame on 4/1 and Wrestlemania on 4/2.

News For My Fellow UK WWE Fans

For those in the UK, Saturday Night's Main Event airs live at 1am late Saturday night on Sky Sports 3, and will be replayed from 1-3pm the next day on Sky Sports 3.

Also, Sky Sports 3 will be airing a one hour special on Bret Hart on March 30th at 7pm and 11pm, also airing on March 31st at 11:30am and 4pm. At the moment there is no deal in place for the Hall of Fame ceremony to air in the UK.

Today's New York Daily News posted a story with a photo of Candice Michelle's Playboy cover. The caption read "World Wrestling Entertainment star Candice Michelle is showing everyone the ropes & then some in the April issue of Playboy. While The Score longs for the days of George "The Animal" Steele, pro wrestling has found a new place in our hearts."

Many believe Jim Ross will be returning to call the action next week on Saturday Night's Main Event. Some sources say the deal will likely be made final tomorrow at RAW.

The latest issue of the U.K. FHM has a 6-page pictorial on Torrie Wilson, Maria Kanellis, and Candice Michelle.

WWE's auction site are auctioning off a Divas 2006 magazine with Trish Stratus on the cover in which Mickie James personally licked on Raw Unlimited last week. There is also a backstage photo of Mickie James licking the magazine cover on the auction page.

WTF???

WWE.com has posted interviews with both Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler regarding how Ross left WWE after being 'fired' on RAW. Lawler came across honestly in talking about how he didn't like what his friend went through when he was "fired" on the air. When Ross was asked about the Dr. Heinie skit, he said "I thought it was a little personal. I also thought it ran a little bit long. I thought they could have gotten their point across a little quicker, but that’s not how it was laid out or produced. It definitely wasn’t one of my shining moments. It probably won’t be on my clip reel of personal highlights of my RAW career." On a possible return to RAW, Ross noted "No, I think my RAW days are over." He added that he thinks that his "time on RAW has come and gone" and added, "I have some other business interests that I’m anxious to pursue. We’re looking at doing a J.R.’s Barbeque Restaurant in Norman, Okla., and we just built a 40-foot customized trailer that we’re going to take to fairs and events. We may take it to Sturgis and rodeos. And next year is the Oklahoma centennial, so we think the trailer will be out a lot to the fairs and festivals. Some of them draw thousands of people and we’d like to sell some of them a barbeque sandwich."

Saturday Night's Main Event will air at 8 p.m. on the WB affiliate WDWB in Detroit after all.

Ted DiBiase will be inducting Sherri Martel at the WWE Hall of Fame.

Rudy Boy Gonzales (who trained Paul London and Brian Kendrick, and Bryan Danielson), Chris Marvel, and Don Juan worked as security guards on RAW last night.

WWE re-signed Shannon Moore today.
Moore had been working in TNA as of late but was not under contract with the company.

Matt Hardy vs. Animal and Fit Finlay vs. Bobby Lashley are both confirmed matches for the SmackDown! taping tonight with the winners advancing to the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 22.

WWE Films has trademarked "The Whispering Man" which appears to be a new film that will eventually be released.

Monday Night Raw Results

Sneak Attack
March 13, 2006

It appears that we’ll have to wait until WrestleMania to see Triple H tangle with John Cena.

After RAW’s huge six-man tag team main event ended in a disqualification, The Champ beckoned “The Game” into the ring for a long-awaited showdown. But before Triple H could engage the WWE Champion, SmackDown’s Randy Orton ran through the stands and into the ring for an RKO to Cena. Orton left just as quickly as he arrived, and he left the Cerebral Assassin in a state of surprise. Ultimately, Triple H enjoyed Cena’s suffering, but it seems “The Legend Killer” sent an early message with the RAW vs. SmackDown Match at Saturday Night’s Main Event only days away.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event, it’ll be RAW’s WrestleMania main event (John Cena & Triple H) facing SmackDown’s WrestleMania main event (Kurt Angle, Randy Orton & Rey Mysterio). But can bitter rivals on both sides co-exist long enough to win the prime-time match on NBC? Watch Saturday Night’s Main Event to find out.

In another match with Saturday Night’s Main Event implications, Shawn Michaels was left bloodied and defeated despite a heroic effort. The four-on-one Texas Tornado Steel Cage Match pitting HBK against the Spirit Squad was payback for “The Showstopper’s” actions earlier on RAW.

When Mr. McMahon tried to force Michaels into a public drug screening, HBK answered back by splashing his own urine all over Mr. and Shane McMahon. The McMahons writhed in disgust and Michaels left smiling, but HBK wouldn’t have the last laugh. A furious and grossed-out Mr. McMahon ordered Michaels into the Steel Cage Match against overwhelming odds.

Despite facing four members of the Spirit Squad, Michaels was actually poised for victory late in the match. He tried to escape through the cage door, but Mitch of the Spirit Squad, who wasn’t in the match, slammed the door from the outside. HBK saw it coming, though, and forced the door back in Mitch’s face. HBK then twisted and hit a lightning-quick superkick on an oncoming Spirit Squad member. But with his back turned, none other than a vengeful Shane McMahon slammed the cage door on the back of HBK’s head. Shawn collapsed, and Shane rolled a Squad member atop for the cover. Afterward, Shane twice tossed Michaels face first into the steel mesh, busting him wide open. The Crowned Prince of WWE then called for the cage to be raised so that he could deliver a jaw-dropping Van Terminator from across the ring.

And at Saturday Night’s Main Event, it’ll be Trish & Mickie James facing Victoria & Candice. It was supposed to be Torrie by Trish’s side, but Torrie was found unconscious with Candice’s Playboy issue left as a calling card.

In addition, Mr. McMahon revealed that he’ll bring back Jim Ross to announce Saturday Night’s Main Event just so he can hear J.R. call Shane’s victory over Michaels.

Also on RAW, Edge mocked Mick Foley with a series of movie-style trailers, then defeated Goldust with help from Lita. Edge also announced that his talk show, “The Cutting Edge,” will return at Saturday Night’s Main Event with special guest Mick Foley.

In a big Intercontinental Championship Match, a momma-less Shelton Benjamin narrowly defeated RVD with a rollup after “Mr. Monday Night” made inadvertent contact with Ric Flair, who was at ringside scouting his RAW opponents for WrestleMania’s “Money in the Bank” Ladder Match.

In other important news, Triple H & Cena made it official by signing their WrestleMania main event contract … before the situation disintegrated when Kane & Big Show, as well as Carlito & Chris Masters, stormed the ring.

And Verne Gagne was announced as the latest member of the 2006 WWE Hall of Fame Class, to be inducted by his son, Greg. It was also announced that “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase would induct “Sensational” Sherri.

MATCHES
John Cena, Kane & Big Show def. Triple H, Carlito & Chris Masters (DQ)
Spirit Squad def. Shawn Michaels (Texas Tornado Steel Cage Match)
Women's Champion Trish Stratus def. Victoria
Edge def. Goldust
Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamin def. Rob Van Dam

Andrew "Test" Martin wrestled in a dark match prior to Raw last night. He defeated Val Venis with his feet on the ropes. World Wrestling Entertainment released Test in November of 2004 while he was out with an injured neck. He has been wrestling overseas for the most part since his release from WWE. He's been incredibly critical of WWE's business decisions on his official website, AndrewTestMartin.com. Also, Chuck Palumbo was released the same week Test was in 2004. After participating in dark matches prior to Raw and Smackdown last week, he was rehired. Perhaps the same thing will happen with Test.

There are mixed feelings with regards to bringing back Jim Ross to host WWE Saturday Night Main Event. Many feel that it would be a big mistake unless they were to also bring him back on RAW.

One former executive in particular was quoted, "J.R. is soooo much better than everyone else, and that will be obvious on NBC. It's not fair to Joey Styles to have his inadequacy next to Ross exposed so badly just as people were getting accustomed to him."

Shannon Moore has officially re-signeed with World Wrestling Entertainment. It was just announced on WWE.com. He was mulling contract offers from WWE and TNA, and he decided to go to WWE.

He was interviewed by WWE.com. He gives his reaction on WWE being interested in him, how he felt when WWE originally released him, his future goals and more. Also note, when he talks about what he's been doing the last nine months, he says he was working on the independent circuit, Japan and "down south."

Shannon Moore is expected to be paired up with Matt Hardy in a tag team on the Smackdown roster.

Shannon Moore's profile was just removed off the official TNA website.

--------------

As you can see, WWE have been bringing back several wrestlers from the past as of late. WWE aren't going after all these people just so TNA doesn't have them. WWE are bringing back the likes of Henry Godwin, Mark Jindrak, Chuck Palumbo and Test because management have been ordered to bring in some big, tall, imposing wrestlers, and these particular wrestlers fit the bill.

The new WWE Wellness program seems to have played a factor in this move. Some wrestlers are going to get smaller as they cycle off of whatever they were using in the next few weeks and months. However, WWE still wants to have big, monster-like wrestlers on their roster, which is why wrestlers like Test and Henry Godwin may be brought back. Also, WWE are contacting several other name wrestlers from the past for tryouts, so stay tuned in the next few weeks to see who WWE might bring back for a return.

--------------

Rene Dupree and The Bashams were recently offered new deals from WWE. There is no word yet if they have signed them though. This should be refreshing news for these individuals because there were rumors that WWE were looking to cut several wrestlers this month. Also, it didn't help matters that WWE are currently looking to bring in a parade of big, imposing veteran wrestlers and well, Dupree & The Bashams have been kept off television for several months.

Dupree has been out the past several months due to an injured hernia. He's wrestled on a few OVW shows though. Doug Basham has wrestled sparingly on some Smackdown house shows the past few months, but has yet to be brought back to TV for some unknown reason. He's been off television since September. Danny Basham was traded to the Raw brand last June. Although, he didn't make an appearance on television until September. He wrestled a jobber on an episode of Sunday Night Heat in some sort of goth gimmick. That was his one and only TV appearance on the Raw brand and he hasn't been seen on television since. Danny has wrestled on a few Raw brand house shows since then, however, he's been kept off the road for the most part for some unknown reason.

Friday Night SmackDown! Results

Stolen Thunder
March 17, 2006

Several SmackDown Superstars found a pot of gold at the end of their rainbow, but it was Randy Orton who truly shined on the St. Patrick’s Day edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

Prior to the scheduled main event Six-Man Tag Team Match, Orton sat down for a three-way interview with his two WrestleMania opponents, World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle & Rey Mysterio. Orton used the time to berate both men, telling Angle he was a paper champion and calling Rey a charity case. The question was raised whether they could co-exist as a team, and while Angle & Mysterio professed to have each other’s backs, Orton merely ducked the question, saying only that he would dominate.

In the main event, the WrestleMania opponents met WWE Tag Team Champions MNM & Mark Henry. Early in the match, Angle kept MNM off guard, but the champions took control by working Angle’s still injured ribs. Angle managed to tag Mysterio, who came in and cleaned house on MNM before running into Henry. Henry dominated his smaller opponent, and Melina & Daivari even got involved to help their team.

As the match neared conclusion, Orton still had not tagged into the match. After Henry missed a splash on Mysterio, Rey was able to tag Angle. The World Heavyweight Champion cleaned house on MNM, tossing them around at will with German suplexes. Angle then hit an Angle Slam on Mercury, but Henry broke up the pinfall. He was rewarded with an Angle Slam of his own, and the World Heavyweight Champion tagged in Mysterio. Mysterio came in and nailed Mercury with the 619, but Orton finally made a blind tag as he did so. Orton then tossed Mysterio over the top rope, and with Angle fighting Henry outside the ring, the Legend Killer made the easy cover on Mercury for the victory. As the remaining members of his team stared Orton down after the match, the question was once again raised if they could co-exist at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Also this week, two of SmackDown’s three spots were filled for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania 22. In the first qualifier, Finlay & Lashley met in a Lumberjack Match. While the two could not keep their rivalry in the ring the last few weeks, the SmackDown lumberjacks made sure there was a winner this week. After Lashley dominated the early going, Orlando Jordan held his leg as he attempted a spear, allowing Finlay to attack and spear Lashley into the post. Several of the lumberjacks then took turns attacking Lashley every time Finlay tossed him to the outside. Lashley would make a comeback and toss Finlay over the top rope out to his friends, inciting a brawl. After Lashley took out several of the lumberjacks, Sylvan came into the ring with a chair. Lashley cut him off, spearing the chair back into Sylvan, but the distraction allowed Finlay to grab his shillelagh. With the referee tending to Sylvan, Finlay nailed Lashley with the shillelagh, getting the pin to advance to WrestleMania.

In the other qualifier, Matt Hardy took on Road Warrior Animal. Hardy attacked Animal as the bell rang, but Animal clipped Hardy’s knee to take control. Animal worked the knee for most of the match before Hardy made a comeback, hitting him with two Side Effects. As they fought in the corner, Hardy accidentally caught referee Charles Robinson with an elbow. This allowed Animal to knock Hardy out with brass knuckles and get the pinfall. However, as Robinson raised Animal’s hand, the knucks fell out of from underneat his arm, where he had hidden them following the match; Robinson saw this and reversed his decision, disqualifying Animal and sending Hardy on to WrestleMania.

Another WrestleMania rivalry was intensified when Chris Benoit met Orlando Jordan. JBL sat in on commentary for the match, bringing a cooler with him as a nod to his Beer Drinking Contest at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Late in the match, Benoit hit Jordan with a trio of German Suplexes and locked in the Sharpshooter. Jordan tapped out, but as Benoit celebrated the victory, JBL ran into the ring and nailed Benoit with the cooler, knocking him out.

On the eve of Booker T and Boogeyman’s clash at Saturday Night’s Main Event, the bizarre one Booker and Sharmell another visit this week. Sharmell was scared to accompany Booker to the ring for his match, so Booker eased her fears by giving her a beekeeper’s suit to wear. After Booker dispatched his opponent quickly, the Boogeyman’s music played. Booker & Sharmell looked around in fear, finally hiding under the ring. They soon crawled back out screaming, as the bizarre one himself appeared from under the ring as well. Booker & Sharmell ran to the back terrified as Boogeyman gave chase, stopping along the way to feast on some worms.

Also, Paul Burchill & Kristal defeated William Regal & Jillian in a Mixed Tag Team Match when Burchill pinned Regal.

MATCHES:
Booker T def. Jeremy Young
World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio & Randy Orton def. WWE Tag Team Champions MNM & Mark Henry
Finlay def. Bobby Lashley (Lumberjack Money in the Bank Qualifying Match)
Matt Hardy def. Road Warrior Animal (DQ; Money in the Bank Qualifying Match)
