Soccer is popular with kids because football at a young age is "too dangerous", they can't hit a moving baseball and they have no coordination whatsoever to dribble and shoot a basketball.

Soccer is pretty popular with young kids but they move on to football, basketball, baseball or hockey by middle school. Why?
...cause they find the others more interesting.

If "football" is so great, how come the rest of the world plays Soccer?
The same goes for Baseball vs. Cricket.

From what I've heard thats just a business thing. Soccer is less suited format for advertising than basketball or baseball. Thats why all the money/marketing go to them.

I dont know if its been said, but I think its pretty damn obvious why soccer is so popular worldwide including the United States.

You dont need money to play this sport. You dont need any equipment or anything that is going to be available to a certain class of people . Soccer to me is the ONLY sport where you just need a sort of ball and an open field...I hate soccer, but certainly as a worldwide sport it is common to everybody, and is a sport that crosses all lines of class, race, culture etc...

Its popular here in the US, but in a society that markets and makes HUGE amounts of money by creating leagues such as the NFL, MLB, etc and where kids are throw into organized sports at early ages it really makes 100% sense that soccer is not that popular. Kids only see what is on the market. And that is not soccer here in the US.

This man is a genius.

Check previous pages, we have been through that.
Alot of the world plays baseball. We all know the game of Cricket is even lamer than its name.

p.s. soccer is as exciting to watch as watching a hobo sleep

Baseball is really only played in the U.S., Latin America, and in Asia particularly
China, Japan , and Korea. Wouldn't say that's most of the world.

Soccer on the other hand is a sport that is played in almost every country in the world and is at least a top sport in that country.

Probably, but french league is better than MLS league...

By the way, I'm from Spain. Greetings from a World Champion :)

I like MLS but of course the French League or any other European league is better than MLS, the league is only 14 years old. MLS is still growing and the product is getting better every year.

WHAT? Are you kidding me? Soccer is extremely popular in the US. Ever heard the term "soccer mom"? How many kids do you know who play? How many soccer fields are there near you? Soccer has duped football and basketball as a popular sport for kids to get into since I was a kid. Amateur soccer is huge in America, professional soccer just hasn't caught on yet.

Pro soccer will never be more popular than football, basketball or baseball because they are American past times.
Just like our football will never be more popular than soccer overseas because it is their past time.

Also, because Europeans are too dumb to figure out the game.

americans sports are lazy. plain and simple. they have timeouts. does european football have timeouts? i think not. will you ever see a fat fuck play soccor, no lol not ever. but you will in baseball, football. soccor takes skill, endurance and great ball control. americans for some reason think everything is gay lol. i do however enjoy basketball.

Lazy, lol.

Basketball and football require alot of endurance, skill and toughness. Baseball to a lesser extent.

The only fat people you see are fucking lineman where you have to be 270+ pounds and those guys have huge amounts muscle strength, toughness and endurance. They smash each other, push and pull, get knocked down, stepped on, kicked, kneed, etc; play after play. If you actually played football before you'd know they aren't fat hunks of flesh that stand around.

Timeouts are to save time, help an injuried player, call a play, etc.

Bottom line is soccer is boring as hell to watch, that according to some might just be the MLS but whatever. It will never be as popular as the Big 3 in America; timeouts and fat people or not, lol.

That's probably because soccer doesn't have any potential benefit to being larger. Every other sport has a distinct intrinsic benefit from people of larger size. That's more a reflection of the nature of those games than anything Americans do.

Football is overloaded with lard asses. Basketball has its share, and baseball has a lot of guys that clearly overweight. You are right, if you are not physically fit, one-hundred percent, you don't stand a chance in the game.

For some reason it was maybe the funnest sport to play though, and hockey, well, the coaches always beat the shit out of us in the practices because that really is a sport that requires quite a bit of endurance as well. I think it was Roenick who said he lost like 8 pounds in one game or something like that back when he was still in the league.

Basketball and Football do require alot of endurance but it's nothing like soccer because in soccer you don't have any stoppage of play to catch your breath and you are covering more ground as a soccer player than you are a football player or basketball player. In both Basketball and Football you have coaches timeouts and TV timeouts and in the case of Football there is alot of waiting around in between plays plus there is a TV timeout after every field goal, kickoff, punt return and injury, it's ridiculous with the TV timeouts. So in those two sports there are times where you can take it easy and get a breather.
