Why do people eat animals?

One word: Protein.

I only eat Beef, chicken and once in a while pork.
One reason I don't eat much pork is because pigs are pretty intelligent and they do feel fear before they are slaughtered.
And I think I read somewhere once that Cows actually enjoy being killed.

Put simply it tastes good! There's nothing better than having a barbeque with charcoal heat (not propane / gas) and some beeer on a nice day. "You don't win friends with salad! You don't win friends with salad! You don't win friends with salad!"

Amen, brother.

Because it goes back to our ancestors. Without eating meat the human race would have never survived this long. Particularly in harsh cultures (North America) or where there is inconsistent rain patterns for crops (Sub-Sahara Africa).

I understand the argument about not eating meat since I have cousins who are exclusively vegetarians, but when I think about the human race and the necessity of eating meat to survive, it kind of negates it.

I agree though I would like more humane treatment of animals in processing facilities.

Even if meat wasn't needed or necessary (Which just isn't true, or at the absolute least is an extremely great exaggeration.) we still need leather. What are we supposed to do, just throw away all that meat after we pull the skin off of the animals?

It would also be a pain in the ass to go out of our way to avoid meat just because in a absolute technical sense we might not need it to survive. Even if meat didn’t provide things other foods can’t easily do or can't do at all in a balanced diet, I’m not going to avoid it just to keep from hurting other people’s feeling about eating animals when there is no good reason to not do so.

What Dirk said. If you really care about animal rights, then choose to eat organic, free range animals. They live like animals are meant to live - on a beautiful farm pasture, grazing all day and enjoying the sunshine. Then, when its "their time" to go, their bodies wind up where they're most useful to wind up - in our bellys.

Animals are delicious, and there is simply nothing wrong with eating them. We WERE given dominion over animals after all. But its not impossible to both eat animals AND treat them with respect. Eating commercial meat from the grocery stores/restaurants sure, is bad. How we raise, kill and treat our animals isn't good for them, or for us either (e-coli anyone?)...best way to enjoy delicious meat AND keep both animal and humans healthy - organic.

Survival of the fittest.

Animals eat us, so why can't we eat animals? Same difference. You think they give a shit about equality, we are all God's creatures, and respecting other species? Hell no.

We eat animals because, as everyone knows, carrot juice is murder.

Vegetables live inoppression, served on our tables each night. This killing of veggies is madness, I say we take up the fight! Salads are only for murderers coleslaw's a a fascist regime. Don't think they don't have feelings, just cause a radish can't scream!!

I've hard the screams of the vegetables, watchingtheir skins being peeled, grated and steamed with no mercy, how the hell do you think that feels??

:rofl2: :funnyshit:
Seriously, why doesn't anyone ever stop and consider the feelings of the poor veggies? They die HORRIBLE deaths in order for us to eat healthy, live longer, and kill even MORE veggies. :crying: That's does it! I'm becoming a meatiac! :yummie:

I didn't climb to the top of the fuckin' food chain to eat carrots. - Ron White

:rofl2: Ron White rocks!

bacon, 'nuff said.

Bacon. Quite possibly nature's perfect food. It's great in EVERYTHING. Have you guys ever tried bacon-flavored bacon! Deeeeelish! It's the culinary equivalent of an orgasim. :1orglaugh

:stir: (this smilie is me deep-frying bacon in bacon grease for a BLT -- minus the lettuce and tomato, of course :D)

firstable because its delicious also its helthy, we need to eat it vegetarian people gets his skin wrinkled look at Paul McCartney or Madonna they are no that old to have their skin like that, they don´t eat meat.

:wtf: Is your last name Fallhell? :dunno:

If we weren't supposed to eat them then they wouldn't be made out of meat. Oh that and the fact that salad isn't food. Salad is what food eats.

Gimme that bat, a minute with that guy and I am pretty sure I would beat him to pulp :2 cents:

There is really no excuse for this behaviour. I have a friend who owns a pig farm and he treats the animals like he should. No beating, no kicking, nothing.

This video has nothing to do with eating meat or not, this video is just about animal cruelty nothing more.

That kind of thing isn't surprising really. I imagine it takes a somewhat sadistic individual to be able to kill animals day in day out.

I hope the people willing to do that stuff for us get paid big $$$$

They don't get paid shit! And many of the workers are illegals. Watch the film Food Inc. and read Eating Animals. It's very shocking and eye opening.

I haven't had red meat in 20 years and pork in 5 years. I am in the process of becoming a total veggie, even vegan. Most of what I eat is vegan anyways. It's one of the healthiest ways to eat, if done properly.

Having said all that, what you eat is a personal choice. But when you research the meat and dairy industry, a lot of it is just plain gross!
