Connery was best because he
defined the character. Daniel Craig may turn out to be better but it's too soon to tell.
I'm also one of the very few Bond fans I know who ranks Timothy Dalton very high. He gave the character a seriousness that had been lacking in the increasingly cartoonish Roger Moore movies.
Moores movies were fun but they got more and more over the top as they went. The exception being
For Your Eyes Only which was a good, down to earth Bond film.
And while I love Pierce Brosnan, I found his films to all be indistinguishable. I can think of action sequences from his films but can't tell you which film it was from. They all run in on each other in my opinion.
The needed to re-boot the franchise and Craig was a good choice for that. He brings a ballsy swagger back to the character. If you've ever read any of the original books, Bond was a ruthless assassin...not a wise-cracking playboy. Craig fits that bill.
