Uh-oh. Looks like I'm going to have to stand alone and say George Lazenby is closest to the books. Fleming's Bond is a bore compared to Connery, and Lazenby's wooden performance really matches it. I also liked On Her Majesty's Secret Service: the skiing getaway, the flirting girls, the mountain battle, and the tragic ending.
But my personal favorite was Dalton--I really dig the cruelty of his Bond.
& being crap. I HATED him, right from the off with his "this never happened to the other fellow" self-referential line (groan)Lazenby was actually pretty good- he just suffered from being in kind of a crappy Bond movie.
