Did you just say that Costco and Walmart have separate suppliers? They both sell the same stuff which means that they both get it from the same place. And how do you know how much either store pays at the wholesale level? Please also tell me about the arm twisting that forces any supplier to do business with Walmart.

I'd still like to know if you are from USA because for the record, this isn't the only country that has Walmarts.

You basically make up most of what you say, lie if nothing else is available in the way of facts, and have no clue as to what is going on.
No retailer has an interest in closing down a supplier for some short term profit...money is made from sales, not a cheap short time profit from a wholesaler who can't produce the same product more than a few times.
Low wages produce no employees and no business. Other suppliers will hire away all the workers lost, and WalMart needs a constant flow of popular product to maintain a constant predictable revenue.
There are a lot of WalMart stores to supply...the suppliers are the ones who bid for the huge business opportunity and they compete for the chance to reach the maximum cash flow a huge contract with WallyWorld can bring.

When you see those Latino kids romping in the WalMart store playing with toys and opening packages those suppliers get nothing for those damaged goods...they get paid when the cash register says sale.
It always took a few minutes to open and untie a[NOBABE] Barbie doll [/NOBABE]from it's packaging at Walmart, their suppliers have gone serious with loss prevention.

Shop elsewhere if you don't like Walmart...I have noticed there are PLENTY of grocery stores and hardware stores and other merchants still doing business around WalMarts...
In Puerta Villarta the WalMart wanted $60 for a bottle of Don Julio...I don't think it's selling to the local peasants in that high Dollar tourist town.
Here WallyWorld keeps us regular folks eating better on the small amount of money we have left after all the high rent and govt grabbing of our small revenues.
I love WalMart's Neighborhood Markets, I lived across from one for 6 years and lived well for less...

If you are talking about the bribes paid by Walmart to do business there, well, that's how the Mexicans do business. Doing business there through all of the legal avenues will always end up with a list of people to pay off. That goes from the Walmarts right down to the fruit cart vendors and cab drivers.

As far as negotiating prices, every business does this large and small. And because of the fact that Walmart doesn't lease shelf space, they can put anything they want on their shelves. Let me illustrate.

Walk into any retailer's tooth paste aisle and you will see the same thing. Colgate, Crest, and Arm and Hammer up front with x number of feet for each brand. 8 formulations times 3 or 4 flavors times 4 different sizes. Less than half of that shit never gets bought but those big 3 bought the space. Smaller brands are crammed into the rest of the aisle and can't expand. They may sell better but can't expand since space is limited. This doesn't happen at Walmart. If Tom's all natural tooth paste is selling well then the store manager cuts the big boys back to accommodate the space. Best Foods, ConAgra, Kraft, and General Foods face the same thing. Goya, Vigo, Iberia and La Costena and much smaller guys get their products in there because Walmart isn't committed to shelving 40 fucking varieties of Hamburger Helper. Private labels are no different. The truck that delivers Wellesley Farms milk to BJs also delivers Kirkland to Costco. The same thing happens with Whole Foods and Trade Joe's. Nobody is cutting down on labor to produce more. In fact these smaller plants are expanding to meet the needs.

Some people have no experience with business, so they can't describe the situation any other way except through innuendo and talking points.
Having done business in Latin America, I can attest to the "Payoff" being an integral part of all business, and it's easy enough to get into the structure and still do well.
I paid a lot to get my goods out of Guatemala and on a Taca flight...where I made a shitload of money selling the goods when they got to the USA.
No bribes...no good.
And what isn't known by worker ants is cash flow is much more important than profit in a business...making 3 cents profit on a million objects is okay if you keep the lights on, and eventually a situation will arise to make a lot of profit...as long as you are still there to take the opportunity.
Supplying to WalMart is a good thing as long as you can afford to stay there...if a business over reaches WalMart has enough experienced buyers to know better and they won't do business with you.
No workers are being put on welfare except those who aren't smart enough to plan ahead.
I got my first Ice Wine from WalMart, and get low cost Nexus Shampoo from them as well.

But where I live I shop for food at mid size grocers and shop for personal needs stuff at Walgreens.

My experience in my post comes from my past job working for Jewel-Osco as a 3rd shift baby sitter. In 03 we did not have a union contract with the UFCW and Albertsons the parent company. They where claiming to compete with Wal-Mart cost of living raises needed to be halted. One of the reason I hate Wal-Mart and avoid the place like the plague. Union contract was finalized a year and half later with a agreement to add 25 cents a year for wages. But got a sweet check from the retro money they gave us for the delay.
