Wal-Mart, China, and The Bill Clinton Lie

This source is over 10 years old...are you TRYING to be as dumb as possible, or is this just normal for you?
If there are NO American suppliers pricing low enough to compete, are Americans supposed to eat less or pay more and have much less of everything to keep non-competitive companies in business? WalMart helps make our Demotard Party Economy Dollars stretch so much further.
I know you disapprove.

The American version of the Spanish Language? Really? Folks, you jus can't make up stuff this dumb...it's so unbelievable.

I appreciate that. Your knowledge of the American consuming market is going to be better than the average Joe since you opened those cases and packed those shelves. I'm still a little miffed that you paint with such a broad brush. Walmart is not the only store that sells goods. Anything you can get there you can get anywhere else. It all comes from the same manufacturers. Manufacturing moving to china is not uniquely a USA situation. Every country has companies that run to cheap labor and China is not the only place they go. Malaysia, Singapore, and Mexico have a good share of Korean, Japanese, French, and German plants. Things were nice way back when before Japanese autos and electronics started flooding out market. We all had our white picket fences, every kid went to college, and companies paid for all of our medicals.

So who do you want to blame for the changes? The American consumers that look for value for their dollars? The foreign companies that more efficiently produced these goods? Tariffs? Okay if you think that USA can sell back to keep things even. Anyway, that ship has long since sailed and we have to deal with today's conditions. We have to float a postal system that is still in the letter business with package services making the money. Companies have decided to change light bulbs without licensed union light bulb changers.

Why Do Internet Trolls Exist?

As you've probably discovered, there are people lurking all over the web who find great joy in humiliating and attacking others. This insightful infographic describes the inner workings of Internet trolls, explaining why they decide to spend their online time in attack mode. Tapping the expertise of psychologists and experts, it offers solid reasons why this scourge of the Internet continues.

We all like to think that most people mean well, and are inherently good. Even if that's true, the infographic shows us instances where even some good people can quickly turn bad, all because of a variety of situations related to mob behavior.

When people think they're anonymous, they do things they otherwise wouldn't. When conversations aren't happening in real time, some people feel like they can quickly dash off a negative comment and then immediately escape altogether. And when people get all wrapped up in their narcissism and rebelliousness, they might be more likely to pick on others they don't even know.

This infographic, presented by http://behavior.net/, concludes with University of Central Lancashire lecturer Claire Hardaker offering ways to prevail over Internet trolls. She combed through nine years' worth of unmoderated comments on an Internet forum, and suggests ways to frustrate — and even thwart — trolls.

Why do you think trolls are doing this? Is there any way to stop trolling without infringing on the free speech of the innocent?

Internet Trolls Really Are Horrible People

Narcissistic, Machiavellian, psychopathic, and sadistic.

By Chris Mooney
n the past few years, the science of Internet trollology has made some strides. Last year, for instance, we learned that by hurling insults and inciting discord in online comment sections, so-called Internet trolls (who are frequently anonymous) have a polarizing effect on audiences, leading to politicization, rather than deeper understanding of scientific topics.

That’s bad, but it’s nothing compared with what a new psychology paper has to say about the personalities of trolls themselves. The research, conducted by Erin Buckels of the University of Manitoba and two colleagues, sought to directly investigate whether people who engage in trolling are characterized by personality traits that fall in the so-called Dark Tetrad: Machiavellianism (willingness to manipulate and deceive others), narcissism (egotism and self-obsession), psychopathy (the lack of remorse and empathy), and sadism (pleasure in the suffering of others).

It is hard to overplay the results: The study found correlations, sometimes quite significant, between these traits and trolling behavior. What’s more, it also found a relationship between all Dark Tetrad traits (except for narcissism) and the overall time that an individual spent, per day, commenting on the Internet.

In the study, trolls were identified in a variety of ways. One was by simply asking survey participants what they “enjoyed doing most” when on online comment sites, offering five options: “debating issues that are important to you,” “chatting with others,” “making new friends,” “trolling others,” and “other.” Here’s how different responses about these Internet commenting preferences matched up with responses to questions designed to identify Dark Tetrad traits:

140214_CDESK_MachiavellianTraits.jpg.CROP.original-original.jpg

To be sure, only 5.6 percent of survey respondents actually specified that they enjoyed “trolling.” By contrast, 41.3 percent of Internet users were “non-commenters,” meaning they didn’t like engaging online at all. So trolls are, as has often been suspected, a minority of online commenters, and an even smaller minority of overall Internet users.

The researchers conducted multiple studies, using samples from Amazon’s Mechanical Turk but also of college students, to try to understand why the act of trolling seems to attract this type of personality. They even constructed their own survey instrument, which they dubbed the Global Assessment of Internet Trolling, or GAIT, containing the following items:

I have sent people to shock websites for the lulz.

I like to troll people in forums or the comments section of websites.

I enjoy griefing other players in multiplayer games.

The more beautiful and pure a thing is, the more satisfying it is to corrupt.

Yes, some people actually say they agree with such statements. And again, doing so was correlated with sadism in its various forms, with psychopathy, and with Machiavellianism. Overall, the authors found that the relationship between sadism and trolling was the strongest, and that indeed, sadists appear to troll because they find it pleasurable. “Both trolls and sadists feel sadistic glee at the distress of others,” they wrote. “Sadists just want to have fun ... and the Internet is their playground!”

The study comes as websites, particularly at major media outlets, are increasingly weighing steps to rein in trollish behavior. Last year Popular Science did away with its comments sections completely, citing research on the deleterious effects of trolling, and YouTube also took measures to rein in trolling.

But study author Buckels actually isn’t sure that fix is a realistic one. “Because the behaviors are intrinsically motivating for sadists, comment moderators will likely have a difficult time curbing trolling with punishments (e.g., banning users),” she said by email. “Ultimately, the allure of trolling may be too strong for sadists, who presumably have limited opportunities to express their sadistic interests in a socially-desirable manner.”

How to Be a Troll -- the Internet Variety

BOSTON (MainStreet) -- The Internet is full of creeps.

Amid the wonders of the Web and the many ways it has improved society, there is a troubling underbelly of cyberbullies, predators and scammers.

There are also the trolls.

For those not steeped in cyber vernacular, trolls are those folks who do their best to hijack the comment threads accompanying articles, postings and photos on Web sites. The comments, usually cloaked in anonymity, can range from absurdist and humorous (at least to them) to scathing and offensive.

(For Phil's case a whack ass sitcom)

The culture of trolling has become so rampant that there is even a visual representation (a crudely drawn, grotesque face) that is posted as a "gotcha." That image, this year, is popping up on Halloween costumes.

Trolls basically come in two flavors: the intentional and unintentional. The latter are those folks who are so tightly wound -- so polarized in their thinking -- that almost any observation can push them over the edge. Like the Queen of Diamonds in the classic film The Manchurian Candidate, there are key words that trigger their hate. On our Web site, the mere mention of "Obama," "Apple (Stock Quote: AAPL)," "Sirius (Stock Quote: SIRI) or pretty much any biotech company will usually guarantee a flood of caustic comments, often hunt-and-pecked with misspellings ("moran" is a common insult), the grammatical command of a Nigerian scammer and a propensity for keeping the Caps Lock button pressed.

Regardless of their own leanings -- and often independent of what an article actually says -- authors across the Internet are attacked as being "socialists" or "Nazis." Print even the slightest positive thing about Apple and be prepared for a flurry of iHate; be even slightly critical and the fanboys will swarm.

The other breed of troll are better described as pranksters (but frequently cruel ones) who are in it for the "lulz."

An online Troller's FAQ that harkens back to the heyday of Usenet newsgroups describes the typical troll as "a quasi-thermodynamic exchange between the sensitive and the cruel."

"You look for someone who is full of it, a real blowhard," it says. "Then you exploit their insecurities to get an insane amount of drama, laughs and lulz."

"The best trolls reveal their true subject only to the lurkers," it says, using a term for the average, noncommenting readers. "In every sense, those who reply to your troll are your tools. So choose a theme for your troll and stick to it. Outwardly you need to appear sincere, but at the same time you have to tell your real audience that this is blatant flamebait. Your skill is shown in the easy way that you manipulate large areas of the ... community into making public fools of themselves."

The FAQ uses the example that posting "USA Sucks" in a patriotic newsgroup or Web site is too obvious and simple. Posting an atheistic rant on a religious site, on the other hand, may garner mixed results. Participants could angrily attack or, as is often the case, may have seen it all before and realize the best way to defang trolls is by ignoring them.

It can be frightening how many people treat what they read on the Web as authoritative. This opens the door for trolls to concoct the most far-fetched, foolish "facts" and have them be accepted without much debate (other than the occasional, passive-aggressive demand for "citation please").

(Like people who think Fox Newa and CNBC are actually news, but more opinionated mouth piece for both political parties)

You are such an ass clown...this lame fake article describes you perfectly.
You have made the most trolling posts of anyone on the FOs site; most of what you say are wild accusations with never a link or fact to back up your bullshit (the posts that are actually coherent).
I have never seen anyone as dedicated to being an asshole as you.
Posts are beginning to be extra boring, getting longer, and staying just as lame.

Just what the Troll Posse likes...:troll2:

So...I've got to be frank. According to my scroll bar there, you've managed to turn more than half of this page - in a thread about Walmart and China - into the Philbert Show, of which you are the co-star. Have a good think about whether you want to be the co-star of Philbert's show.

There is a thread somewhere that encourages all of the shit slinging you want. Can someone find that? Either bump it up or post the link here. Maybe it should be one of those sticky threads kept at the top for easier go to.

You are dead on. And some good advice.

Other words just stop engaging is the advice. But read the second post to see the direction Phil was going take this with name calling.

No need, we are all adults. And like Trap said, I'm a fool if I keep on engaging to posters who just want a pissing contest.
