UN votes for air strikes on Libya as Gaddafi warns of reprisals if West attacks

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
Sorry...that's flight #103 over Lockerbee Scotland. My mistake. A lot of the planes being shot down were over the imaginary line know as the "line of death" in the Gulf of Sidra, which khadaffi claimed was his territory.

but never the Khadaffi friendly Italy! :nono:
:D

Even if the Italians helped they would only get in the way, it pretty much started going downhill for them when they had to use chemical weapons when they invaded Ethiopia (Abyssinia) in 1935, eventhough most of the Ethiopians were armed with spears and bows. Hitler must have been on crack when he picked the Italians as allies.

Question
How many gears does an Italian tank have?

Answer
5, 4 reverse and 1 forward incase the enemy attacks from behind.

The French also lost a UTA DC-10 from a Libyan terrorist bomb while flying over Chad in 1989.

Thank you USA for joining again a battlefield you´ve nothing lost at !
To me it looks like you need to throw your old junk on Libya cause in need of more employment in the weapons-industry.
DUMBAZZES ! :mad::D:angels:

Blame the media. Once again the media drove foreign policy through pictures, video and dubious third hand "accounts" of "massacres" and "genocide".

We didn't want to get involved.

...now it´s the *media* . Someone else standing in line ...??:dunno:
Lord in heaven, just get ur azz out there, the French + Brits will mixup the bastard by themselves with no problems.
But otherwise it´s more then just understandable ....

@Trident : With my heart I´d really loooooooovve to have some of the German Eurofighters down there, ...just the paycheck for the discotheque La Belle in Berlin and for the civil airplane in the UK ....but otherwise us Germans are known for the last 2 world-wars ...so better not . Know what I mean ?

I think the Americans just took out the air defence systems so it was safe for French and UK planes, they probably had the most suitable weapons and intelligence to do that the most effectively. Obama has said that no US ground troops will be involved.

...but I´m sure the UK will present the bill for Lockerbie, ..and I really want our French neighbors to shoot his azz once more for the Germans + La Belle . ...:violent:
The UK has been doing secret trade deals with Gaddafi for some time now, they wanted to avoid this but Gaddafi continued to attack his own people and they continued to rise up. I believe Libya has already reached compensation agreements with the UK, US and Germany :dunno:

Your words in the ear of the Lord. Cause IF there´s something goin wrong, the French has the * legion etrangere`. And as far as I know the Brits aint lazy too ..

If the Legion needs to be sent there, you may see Gaddafi heading south to the middle of Africa I´m sure...

YEPP !

Bet you, this camel-herder will learn. If not, he´s getting teached how to learn. :D

...let´s make it an easy battle :

We send down one of the Klitschko-brothers, ..Gaddafi can hit 20 times .. after this Klitschko is allowed to hit only twice.

That was it ....:D:angels:

Oh come on ! USA would never miss an opportunity to be at war against some big bad muslim guy

An d this time, unlike Iraq and Afghanistan it's gonna be a clean victory, not some damn Vietnam 2.0

But this time, USA are not in command of the operation (maybe this is why it's not gonna be Vietnam 2.0), France is.
This time, the people of Libya aren't shooting "USA, go away" but "Thank Your Sarkozy"

om3ga

It's good to be the king...

Don't forget, France got spanked in Indo-China too - but I digress...

I can understand the cautious approach by the US. Countries like Iran won't be able to complain about the "Great Satan" running the operation. Also with Gadaffi involved, I'd keep the champers on ice before proclaiming a "clean victory" immediately....:nono:

By and large Daffy is a secularist but he used a few frames of islam when he wrote his silly Green Book . He led a socialist coup against the Libyan King. The flag that all the rebels are waving is the royalist flag.

As for "Vietnam 2.0" you better hope the Brits and French come up with a "what next" plan after the airstrikes.

I respect both the French and Brit armed forces and wish them the best of luck but this fight has potential to be a clusterfuck.

Meanwhile in Bahrain.....

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/mar/18/bahrain-destroys-pearl-roundabout

The move was described by demonstrators as an attempt to symbolically cleanse the city of the main focal point of Bahrain's most sustained reformist movement in 20 years.

"It won't work though," said one man walking briskly through a central city street as sunset approached. "Symbolism means nothing. We have the momentum."

However, as the body of Ahmed Farhan, who was shot in the head on Tuesday, was being prepared for burial in the restive enclave of Sitra, some mourners envied the momentum with rebels in Libya.

"There is a double standard with the Americans," said Ali al-Akri, of the UN resolution to enforce a no-fly zone over Libya. "It suits their interests to go after Gaddafi now because the crimes he committed cannot be defended by anyone.

"Here, because of the strong support they have always had for the kingdom, they don't want any radical change. They know that any change here will reflect on Saudi Arabia, which is deeply worried."

As hundreds of men chanted anti-regime slogans, Fadhil Radhi, 45, stepped forward. "I have a message for Obama," he said. "He asked for change and change took him to the top. But since then he has given these people (Bahrain's ruling al-Khalifa family) the green light.

"The people know the truth now, it is not like before. They cannot hide things, the media is strong and it reveals their lies. Obama knows it too and he has to show us what change means."

Bahrain needs as much assistance from the western forces to combat quelling of the uprising by Saudi forces.
