For the last couple of years I really didn't see what all the big deal was about with her and didn't pay attention to her or her music very much. Last night, there was a special with her on TV so I watched it. I have decided that she is pretty damned talented.

I still think she is weird as fuck and is basically recycling Madonna with some Marilyn Manson shock effect . I have a couple of friends that went to see her in Charlotte earlier this year and I laughed at them for going to see her. They said that the show was pretty entertaining and there were a lot of freaks there that made the concert fun too. I have to admit that after watching the TV show last night I am a little intrigued by her. I also thought that she may have a bright future ahead of her as an actress.

In one of her interviews one of her main influences was Andy Warhol. That would help explain the theatrical portion. I really can't say too much about her shock schtick because as a kid (8-10) I was a huge Alice Cooper fan. Since you and I are in the same age bracket, you know how much holy water my parents threw on me.

To me, her appeal has always been more about the shock value and the wacky outfits than it has been about the actual music. Lady Gaga has done that to herself in effect. Her political appeals are impossible for me to take seriously when she doesnt dress like shes going to a political rally, thus i think her politcal acitivity shes doing more for herself than she is for the cause.

This is just my view of her. In a culture all you have to do is to party at all the luxurious niteclubs, and get into the tabloids to become a celebrity, anyone can get by on things other than talent, sustaining the 'fame' is another story.
