Hmmm. Is it safe to say that Bill Belichick is the SUPREME MASTER AND COMMANDER of the NFL? All 3 of this "high profile" assistants from the Super Bowl glory years have been canned or, in Charlie Weis's case, or will be canned next season.

The Supreme Master keeps rolling...and rolling...and rolling...

The Jets better sweep Brett Farce out of the organization after the Pro Bowl. Isn't it a fucking disgrace that he's going to the Pro Bowl this season! Haha. I guess tossing 22 INTs and leading your team on another end of season collapse merits the Pro Bowl...haha.

Will Mike The Rat Shanahan be the next one fired?

Will Herm Edwards get canned in KC?

Will Jack Del Rio get the "we wish him well in his future endeavors" memo from the Jags?

I think today's firings are just the beginning. The economic meltdown seems to be giving NFL owners quick triggers. I guess owners view a new coaching hire as a way to "sell tickets" and goose fan excitement?

the jets want favre back...but i see him retiring...he cant deal with the 16 game schedule anymore...and in reference to your master and commander...i dont think these guys were head coach material...they were always coordinators...and damn good at it...and yet, the pats are sitting at home watching the playoffs...11-5 doesnt get you in? that's just bad luck...

See Post # 558:thumbsup:

4 divsion winners...2 wildcards...ravens had the tougher schedule...

Post 558 connects back to a bunch of other posts I made about the Division arrangement being stupid in today's NFL. It weakens playoffs. Every year crappy teams like Arizona and San Diego get in while better teams don't. Divisions aren't needed. Conferences can still exist although wouldn't the Super Bowl actually be "truer" if only the best 12 teams got in period...I think Conferences exist for the TV Networks and broadcast rights...

well, the teams should get rewarded when they win the division...but only thing i dont like is when the division winner doesnt have a better record than the wildcard...they shouldnt get to host the game...and not everyone is going to be happy with everything...nothing u can control...just win and see...in this case...the pats won, the fins won, the ravens won...and the pats got left out...someone always gets left out...tough luck

the jets fired mangini because this was a superbowl or bust season once they added farve. look for bill cowher in newyork next year. i think the divison winner should get a home game no matter the record, this year just has some particuarly bad home hosts.detroit has asked permission to interview all the hot assistants but who wants that job only the raiders job is worse

Cowher took his name out of the Jets mix

and i think id rather have the raider job....
cuz at least then youre working with some form of talent.... Darren McFadden, JaMarcus Russell, Nnamdi Asomugha (sp?), Kirk Morrison, Gibril Wilson, a pretty good running attack and a pretty darn good special teams unit

While all the lions really got goin for them is Calvin Johnson, Ernie Sims, and Kevin Smith

I thought he was still in the Jets mix?

the Raiders job does seem promising. . . then again, that's probaly what the last three coaches said! Al Davis needs to stop meddling and let someone take over the fotball decisions, hence, Cowher would not be a good fit there since i don't think Davis will do so.

Holmgren to the Jets? Makes it more likely Favre would come back, IMO.

they got the number pick also, he can work with a new qb...most likely that's going to be sam bradford...but the defensive is a different story

I think it would be sweet, yet incredibly unlikely, for the Miami Dolphins to make it to the Super Bowl this season. It's in Tampa and economically...the Super Bowl could benefit from a local team actually making the game this year. I think I'll root for the Fins this season. I don't know which NFC team I'll root for. My usual NFC teams didn't make it.

No matter whom I root for...I still see a NYG/TENN matchup...

The Dolphins have been my team since Marino so I'm always gonna root for them, and I hope they go to the Superbowl, but mark my words,It's gonna be a Manning vs. Manning Superbowl.I'm gonna watch the Giants and Colts games real close(and I urge everyone else to do the same),because I'm sure that there's gonna be some shenanigans to try to make sure that match up actually happens.
