We'll see how it ultimately turns out but Obama has directed big changes in Afghanistan under the leadership Lt. Gen. Stanley McChrystal and Obama for the first time has the Pakistanis seriously going after AQ and the Taliban.
General McChrystal is former JSOC which likely means there will be more of a specialized focus on taking out the head of AQ, the Taliban and finally wiping the map clear of them.

Obama doesn't seem to huff and puff but just does takes care of biz quietly behind the scenes.
Well Bush did his golfing and enjoyed his steaks while the troops where dying and got hammered for among other things he did by the "concerned media".
Obama predicted the most catastrophic economic collapse sicne the great depression, printed and spended way more money than any president in office in less than a year, then says "we have no money" the media still drools for him and a few people out there still want to keep track of his expenses and it's wrong?
Fair is fair if you do it for one you do it for the other one or maybe is not right cuz he's black and that would be racism to call him out on anything? If you have not figure out that Obama sees the goverment like his own spending credit card with no limits approach then I don't know what else to tell you.

By pushing General Motors to bankruptcy, force GM to slash Saab, Hummers, Pontiac and Saturn, you basically cut the production of 16 millions cars down to 10 millions cars a year to survive and import at least 2-2.5 millions Chinese made GM Buick to United States starting next year.
GM is doing very well in China and almosts outsell GM America and makes a lot of money. But it is a joint venture 50/50 with Chinese auto manufacturing company. It also exposes GM know-how to the Chinese to build cars.
The real issue is are American going to continue to buy that 10 millions GM cars/trucks/SUV? If not, Obama Administration will be done !

No. The only issue is whether or not the US job market comes back. If so, Americans will buy the same shit they used to buy, including GM cars.
Take this example, I know a person who went from spending $150 a month to commute back and forth to work to almost $600 at the height of gas pricing.
I'm sure it was not the same for everyone..some paid more some paid less but the ratios were more than likely the same. Now if that much capital is transferred from the rest of the economy to the oil industry...almost all the other business sectors will suffer. By suffer I mean profits shrink or become deficits and they have to lay people off or go out of business altogether (as many did). That should be obvious.
The auto industry by and large may have made bad business decisions but all business do. The fatal blows were dealt to them by an economy sapped of capital.

The problem is that we wiped out our manufacturing base. The entire attitude in the '90s on-ward was consumer, consumer, consumer. That killed us.

I work for a supplier for Chrysler. Which means I am not working at the moment. As far as GM being 'forced' to do anything because the government didn't blah blah blah, and the consumer wouldn't blah blah blah. Ok let me sum it up for you, I may explain my point of view in a very direct somewhat brutal maner but I prefer to be honest with you. Imbecilistic voters voted for someone who isn't representative of real Americans and who isn't of their religious faith also at but not least the fact that about his birth and citizenship were also questionned in the past and can be a subject of trouble too. When one takes unrealistic or senseless decisions, he has to suffer the consequences. Now, we have a new pressure on US economy and North Korea gets naughty again. I see another Korean War since 1950s and some operations in Middle East to keep things in "balance". Don't worry, Obama is not a tolerant person as he promotes a religion that justifies fighting and killing for religion.
