The Founding Fathers did not want a ruling aristocracy as there was in Europe but a government of the "common man." What that meant then as to what it means today may differ but the principle is the same. Most of the Founding Fathers were self-made.

Bohama lost thousands of seats from the US Capitol to the state level. Thirty plus? That seems a little high. I thought the actual number was 26. Still not as high as Bohama's total his first mid term. It think that number was something like 62 seats turned over. Hardly even a ripple when you consider 2020 is going to destroy Dem's expectations. Dat impending SCOTUS vacancy, though.

When all the races are finally called they'll end up with close to 40 seats. That will be the biggest Dem pickup since Watergate and bigger than the 31 seats they won in the 2006 Blue Wave. But since some races weren't called on election night it doesn't feel like it did in 2006 or 2008.
