The Blue Wave thread

I'm torn on Ocasio-Cortez. On one hand, she's a dingbat as far as her political beliefs go, but on the other, she is what our founding fathers had in mind in serving in elected office - ordinary people who worry about paying rent. She's young too as were many of the twenty-something's who signed the Declaration of Independence.

Actually, she's the exact opposite of what the Founders had in mind for serving in office. Look at the Constitution. The only officials who were to be popularly elected were members of the House of Representatives. Senators were chosen by state governors and presidents were to be CHOSEN by electors who were chosen in whatever manner state legislatures saw fit. It was designed to keep the power where it was: With land-owning, well-to-do white people. Read the Federalist Papers. Hamilton, Madison and Jay expressed their fear of what John Adams called, "the tyranny of a motivated majority." The biggest lie ever perpetrated in American history is the notion that we're a majority rule democracy. We're a very controlled representative republic, which is designed to keep educated, informed, wealthy people in power.

The Founding Fathers did not want a ruling aristocracy as there was in Europe but a government of the "common man." What that meant then as to what it means today may differ but the principle is the same. Most of the Founding Fathers were self-made.

Ocasio-Cortez reminds me of Dave Brat (minus the tight little ass) unseating Eric Cantor. He was some small college professor who took down a high and mighty. Unfortunately, he suffered a narrow defeat on Tuesday.

Let's not forget she busted her tight little ass (we're on a porn forum) and defeated who would've been the likely Speaker of the House.

She is stupid, retarded and socialist and that can't make of her a good congresswoman but liberals love the trash whether it comes to congress men/congress women and governors.

A few takeaways:

1. Republicans are screwed with the metropolitan areas. Democrats are screwed with the rural areas. The former hurts the Democrats in the Senate. The latter hurts the Republicans in the House

2. In '06 and '08 the Democrats were able to take back the House by turning solidly red seats blue. After the 2008 election they held 22 seats in districts that voted for both Bush and McCain. That didn't last. in 2010 the GOP won back 20 of those seats. Those seats were rentals. 2018 as different. A majority of the Democratic pickups came in purple or blue districts. These are seats they're more likely to hold onto in the future. The Republicans held 25 seats in districts that voted for Clinton. The Democrats flipped 18 of those seats. Those aren't rental seats. They'll likely end up owning them. That means their House majority will have a good chance of surviving the next election

3. Democrats couldn't overcome gerrymandering but it may be ending soon.

"The Democratic disadvantage is most glaring in Ohio: While Democrats won 48 percent of the popular vote there, up from 43 percent in 2016, they collected only 25 percent of the state’s House seats – the same four seats they have held since 2012."

In North Carolina, the Democrats gained 2.9 percentage points, but flipped no seats...

In Michigan, Democrats flipped two seats, but got only 50 percent of the seats despite winning 54 percent of the vote...

After decades of blatant partisan gerrymandering, things may finally be changing. In May, Ohioans voted overwhelmingly to put redistricting in the hands of a bipartisan commission rather than self-interested legislators, and, on Tuesday, voters also approved reform measures in Colorado, Michigan and Missouri. (Utahns voted on a measure, too, but as of Wednesday afternoon the vote was too close to call.)

The new york times is an Obama muppet newspaper and it doesn't reflect the reality, most of blue states are filled with crimes, illegals and poverty. If we count how much obstructionnism has been done by democrats with their rampant obstructionism when it came to judge Kavanaugh's nomination or the filibuster law, Democraps should stfu and stop blaming all the faults on Republicans where under Obama they have created the worst economy, welcomed most illegal citizens and used them as illegal voters.Aside tax hikes, gun bans and reducing the army's budget, Democraps had no real economic nor social program.

No, didn't you hear dear leader? It was a historic victory for republicans! I guess they didn't want the house, maybe it was a real dump or something?

Bohama lost thousands of seats from the US Capitol to the state level. Thirty plus? That seems a little high. I thought the actual number was 26. Still not as high as Bohama's total his first mid term. It think that number was something like 62 seats turned over. Hardly even a ripple when you consider 2020 is going to destroy Dem's expectations. Dat impending SCOTUS vacancy, though.

Vote totals nationally in the 2018 midterms-

House of Representatives: Democrats- 53,423,774, Republicans- 48,439,810

Senate: Democrats- 48,062,635, Republicans- 34,280,990

If Mitch McConnell lets the words, "the American people" slur off of his dry drunk tongue in regards to anything supportive of Republicans, someone needs to bitch slap his whore mouth.

Hey Ace! Can you post all of those videos of conservatives sitting in the audience of presumed victory parties only to start bawling uncontrollably? Or even better, when do we have a march on Washington? Oh , I have an idea! Let’s all meet up and scream at the sky.

Let’s just hope that Democrats carry through with their pledge to subpoena everyone down to the janitorial staff and introduce those articles of impeachment.

When all the races are finally called they'll end up with close to 40 seats. That will be the biggest Dem pickup since Watergate and bigger than the 31 seats they won in the 2006 Blue Wave. But since some races weren't called on election night it doesn't feel like it did in 2006 or 2008.

Whatever you need to tell yourself to make yourself feel better.

Yeah, I am heartbroken over a majority that couldn’t even get anything done on healthcare or immigration.

Crushed even. I am more than happy to let Democrats make fools of themselves and all but ensure Trump is re-elected.

You mean after they keep manufacturing more votes.
A wave is technically 50 or more seats and the majority will be razor thin.
A wave does not include losing more senate seats.
I guess moral victories will have to hold you over.

Bless your heart.

The Blue did their job. Yea, swings are nothing new to midterms, but still, that's a pretty good chunk.

This is so fucking funny. The losers are claiming victory and winners aren't celebrating a victory.

The Republicans gained Senate seats guaranteeing confirmation of President Trump's next Supreme Court appointee once Ginsburg dies, because let's face it, this crypt keeper ain't leaving on her own accord.

Like straight shooter once pointed out (before contradicting himself) - it's the makeup of the Supreme Court that is what's most at stake here. President Trump will be long gone from office and the House and Senate may change hands a half dozen or more times, but Trump's justices will remain.

That is why democrats are not celebrating this victory. Remember, they were literally CLAWING at the doors of the Supreme Court like The Walking Brain Dead to protest Kavanaugh.

Fuck the left. They represent suck and shit.
