The Biden Presidency

Biden 'gaffe' on Putin scrambles US message on Ukraine (msn.com)

President Joe Biden's apparent call for Vladimir Putin's exit reverberated instantly around the world, sparking an administration rush to course-correct -- and risks scrambling US efforts to rally a united front on the Ukraine conflict.
A senior US analyst said it could have the effect of lengthening the war.
And even France's president warned such language could "escalate" a conflict the United States and its NATO allies have sought at all costs to contain, and undercut Western efforts to help suffering Ukrainians.

The remark came as Biden wound up a forceful speech on Saturday capping what had been a widely-praised European visit, aimed at presenting a determined front against Russia's invasion.

I'm sure most of us agree with the sentiment, but it's never a good look when one leader calls for a regime change.

As soon as the Russian army entered Ukraine, NATO should have supplied Ukraine with all the missiles to wipe out every Russian tank, vehicle, and airplane
This could have prevented the full invasion.

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.

I wish the United States would pull the fuck out of the U.N., I just don't even know if they really can at this point, I don't know if either side could make that happen, but when the leader of the United States even suggests a leader from ANY major world power says something like that, he's pulling on a tail, he shouldn't be pulling on, especially when about the ONLY world leader that ever seems to show restraint is the leader of America. Of course I doubt Trump would've handled this well. I think he and Vlad had one of those relationships, where they're crossing their fingers behind their backs, and shaking hands with the other....grinning at each other, while think how to fuck the guy first.

This country doomed itself, to patrolling the world, and baby sitting anybody that's weak or whines for help, right after WWII, when it decided it was ok to divide Persia, and created Israel, and starts the United Nations. Since it's creation, it has stood for nothing more, then benign military intervention, and cost the United States more lives then it should have. I didn't forget the billions of tax dollars, but that doesn't compare much to someone's son, or daughters life.

Saw this thread and made me think. I was just in Phoenix on business and was topping off the rental car. The pump had the President Biden "I did that" sticker.
I was curious and checked the other pumps they had it to.

Just made me smile at the politics of it all. The stickers weren't being removed if all the pumps had them.

Republicans will remove the Biden stickers when the price of gas goes back down, and maybe replace them with Trump stickers. Republicans love their cult slogans and their made-up reality.

Ok. I'll probably be back in 6 months. I'll check.

I was wondering, could Biden have chosen Obama to be his VP in the 2020 elections, and if Biden died would Obama be allowed to be President??

No. VPs must be constitutionally eligible to assume the Presidency. Of course, Obama could claim he was obstructed so much he deserves a do-over. I think I heard that argument elsewhere. 😉

If Trump is prevented from running for President, can he still be chosen to be the VP, even with all the legal cases against him???

Certainly. Why choose a fresh candidate when you can resurrect the ghost of Spiro Agnew?

What if a Prez or VP has to leave office before the end of their second term? Can they get "credit" for the portion they didn't serve?

For eg, say a 2nd term prez falls ill within a month or two, and doesn't recover until the next election.

That is a good question. I'm not sure.

I believe you can only be elected twice. I think it doesn't matter if you serve both terms fully or not.
You can serve an additional 2 years if you take over for a sitting president.
If you assume 3 years of a sitting president's term, then you would only be eligible for being elected to one term on your own.

That is my understanding. Perhaps someone who has studied this may be able to clarify better.

Consulting the rule book, two is the maximum limit of election wins:

Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.

Trump claims to have won two elections. Maybe we should agree with him and then call him ineligible to run. ;)

It's been a while since I posted in this thread, doubt if it's worth going back and catching up. I can't imagine anyone supporting the insurrectionist ass Quack-Anon Soviet Republicans, but from everything I keep hearing, "Democrats are in trouble" going into the midterms. That's almost comical.
