I have never been into rap, but Public Enemy was always interesting to me. Being from a upper middle class 98% white neighborhood and a true fan of post-punk. They spoke of what I did not understand and from a view point that was foreign to me. Too bad college folk introduced it too me, I would have been interested in the true story from the streets.
Nas is good,maybe top 5 all time,I'll give you that,and Illmatic was the fucking bomb,but Method Man is still the best

Ok I made one post here already but I will say it again!
RAKIM is the greatest MC to ever rock the mic!! there is nobody that comes close to his lyrical dominance! not only did he never use words that didn't have any meaning, he rapped with most confidence and the brutha just knew he was the chosen one!!
Tupac btw didn't belittle woman any worse than any of these other rappers past and present! and although tupac was mostly conveying real life and not necessarily lyrical majic like the "R" but he lived the life, he wasn't fake! I once said what an asshole when he shot @ the cops, but when he did that, he justified himself as a real "G" speakin the truth.. and I realized tupac was one rapper who spoke nothin but the truth!!
after them you can start a list of the top 25 or top 100 if those 2 guys above are not in everybodies top 5 I say your rap ears have NO credibility cuz its hard not to give them the top billing!!
IMO eminem is a suck ass gay MF'er! not cuz he is so FAKE, but that gay ass voice he uses too rap in is soooo whack!!!
method man woud prolly be in the top 25, their are so many rappers on the lyrical front that are just incredible! but if you use filler words that have no meaning or totally irrelavant from the main theme of a track thats just

so opinions are so wide and uncertain it just has to go by what the record sales say!!! and or other rappers, and peoples opinions that are valued and recognized as a great judge of talent and an ear for the best!! you know those who know who was the best and so on and so forth!!
