Most congressmembers don't 'read' the overwhelming majority of legislation which gets passed.
It is not remotely practical for a congressmember to read some of the legislation that is passed and every article contained therein.
That was just another red herring argument because most of the stuff is written, proofed and summarized by their staff of lawyers so that they understand basically what's in there.
Secondly, when you say most congressmen didn't read it...which ones does that statement mostly apply to? Those who were passing something they had no familiarity with or those who were voting against it and therefore had no real need for reading it?
Who here read every syllable of the closing docs when they bought a house (for example)??? Anyone who would says they read every syllable is likely lying. You read the pertinent details and skipped over the pro forma shit like everyone else does.
We'll see if it saves money or not.

The only thing I DO know is it caused my insurance to go up 12% last year (me and a lot of other people) and it will add millions of people to Medicaid, a system that's already going broke.
Nothing innovative about this thinking... it's like 60's solutions to problems where that will not work because more money will not fix the problem... because there IS no more money. :2 cents:

...What has happened to the idea that we champion diversity of opinion and thought in this country? Oh, I guess that it's a one way street whenever an attractive emerging conservative minded former democratic party woman is involved, eh? That figures, she has to be crazy and extreme . . . she just HAS to be . . . after all, she's different than todays's rank and file democratic woman. You see, Bachmann actually keeps herself fit & trim, she dyes out those pesky grey hairs, she refrains from wearing pants and flats and instead wears skirts & heels, it's no wonder why they detest her! Furthermore, what kind of woman would have 5 kids, remain married and voluntarily care for an additional 20 - 25 foster kids . . . surely there's only one answer.... A crazy woman!

I didn't notice all the posts in this thread where people attacked her for wearing skirts and fostering kids. Perhaps they are only visible on your computer for some reason.....
Anyway, good luck with Bachmann as president. Obviously her ability to dye her hair has proven beyond a shadow of doubt that she is more than qualified to govern the world's remaining superpower.
His eyes and ears have special filters which filter out all of the dumb shit the rest of us read and hear Bachmann utter for herself and what he's left with is shit about skirts and dye.
