Random Statement Thread II

Ummm...you sure you want to know? Some people might like not knowing in an ignorance is bliss kind of way. So maybe you don't want to read my answer below.

...anyway I boycott it because a large amount of the labor used to harvest cocoa beans is from slave labor and nearly all the rest comes from labor that's about the equivalent of sweatshop conditions with little pay or chances for one to better their life. It's especially bad in the Ivory Cost where much of the world's cocoa comes from. Finding chocolate that doesn't come from conditions like that, especially where I live and there is no specialty stores, is hard to say the least, and since almost all the major chocolate producers use that cocoa I don't buy any of there products.

Fuck 'em!

I eat red, raw meat and snort **** off of strippers tits and smoke like a fucking wildfire in Cali. being fanned by the Sana Anna winds!

Yep any site like that is good, although some have higher limits than others. Imagebam is the best one I know (10mb). Postimage was 100mb but it shut down.

PNG is better than JPEG for quality. The file size will probably be a lot bigger though.

I just got done converting the photo and I kept it at jpeg. It didn't seem to downgrade the image too much...although I was still viewing it through a picture viewer and not my browser so I don't know how it will look in it. The blending of the colors isn't as smooth as how it really is.

Still it's under 700 KB so that's isn't too bad. What would you think would be the best quick image host for sizes that aren't too huge. I wish I could remember the one I used to use. Artemis told me about it and it was the one he used for his signatures also when he was one the board more.

Anyway this is from an old Mike Deodato Jr. Wonder Woman drawing with the pencils and inks already done. I can't say for certain and it's been a long time, but if I had to guess I would say it was done in the mid 90s sometime. I even think a slightly altered and finished colored one might have been produced and might be out there somewhere. I wasn't a fan of DC comics as much back then and it's been a while so I'm kind of sketchy on it.

I choose this picture because out of a lot of them that are online that aren't colored (A lot of them are commissions by professional comic artist that the people that buy them put up so others can see what they have.) this one had pretty good resolution. It was 2550 X 3373 pixels. Plus it is Wonder Woman, and I guess if I wanted to see if I could color good skin tone well she was a good one to work with, not that I'm complaining. That fact it isn't a bad picture to begin with helps.

Being my first time I probably ever seriously worked with color in my life a lot of things were a bitch to do. Coloring the hair took a long time. Plus I had to alter it in the end by Photoshop processes to get it darker because it ended up looking like it was blue instead of black just using blue like is often done in comics. The metals getting to look like metals weren't as hard as I thought, but adding in the comic like waves and reflections was a pain. The skin shades were tough to blend in Photoshop. Both paining physically and painting digitally have their drawbacks and in both of them blending can be hard if your not good at it. I eventually had to create a process of smudging, blurring, and then going over it the transition areas with a brush with the opacity turned way down, and then do those steps over and over again on the same area to get a good blending. Still, like I said in the Photoshop image and not the jpeg the blending is even better.

I have to say one thing for Photoshop though. It's a hell of a lot cheaper to paint in it than using physical medium, and a lot easier to correct mistakes. If I had to do this with paint on canvas it would set me back a huge amount of cash. This took me a bit of time to do. I hope that's just my inexperience. I have been too lax in doing artwork recently and hopefully I will correct that.

So here it is.

This is the link to the unfinished image I used, scaled down.

And this is the finished one I colored.

I thinking about doing more to it like showing the light from her whip falling on things and drawing the shadows from the hair that go in front of her.

Anyway I hope somewhere out there Mike Deodato Jr. doesn't mind me coloring in his picture. There wasn't really any way I know of to go and ask. It was good practice though. Now I think I'm going to finish a black and white ink drawing I left unfinished from two years ago.

I threw my back out a little doing exercises yesterday. I hope it’s one of those things that gets back to normal in a day or two.

It's already feeling better than yesterday so I think it's one of those short term things. I might have to postpone a workout a day or two or skip one.
