Poll: Obama 'worst president' since World War II

Never question my love of country. I hate the current government.

Then you must have a tough time supporting republicans, the "current government" has as much GOP influence as it does anything else. Why shouldn't I question your love of country? Republicans have always used that tactic.

I am sick of hearing the media repeat the bogus line that Republicans won’t work with Obama or their Democrat colleagues in Congress. The truth is 180 degrees from this lie. While the Republican led House runs rather efficiently, even passing a steady stream of groan-inducing compromises with Democrats, the Senate is another matter entirely. The Senate is ruled by one man, not the other 99 Senators who were elected to represent their states. That man is Harry Reid, and he is a tyrant.

from Washington Times:
"…working on the issues he’s offered for the chamber’s agenda." Which is Harry Reid’s way of saying, "If you won’t give me what I want, I won’t let anything else get done in the Senate.

The Washington Times is a far right rag, they troll politics in the same vein as NewsMax and The Daily Caller, their opinion doesn't mean shit. The fact is there's gridlock in both houses of congress, I think Boehner's a fucking joke, he allows house republicans to make rules up as they go along just so they can block anything house democrats try to do. Republicans wouldn't have a majority in the house of representatives if it weren't for rampant gerrymandering in GOP controlled states. Republicans would do well to listen to animus fox-

We're outnumbered. The pendulum does swing back and forth but the center is shifting in the other direction.

Would it be too much to ask republicans, teabaggers particularly, to just tone it the fuck down? Seriously, I can find common ground and often do, but in my experience they ain't got time to listen to any of that shit. Why must it always be that, "Obama voters are low-info" or some variation on that theme? Everyone needs to understand that it's great to disagree with the politics and positions of your political opponents, but realize we're all Americans and can vote however the fuck we want. It doesn't help that the far right media keeps the republican base pumped full of fear, hate, and lies, say what you want but the "mainstream" media doesn't operate that way. It's not hard to understand why the center has shifted away from the right, you fuckers don't learn from your mistakes and missteps, you just double down on the same shit that got your asses handed to you in the last two national elections, and when you really examine the actual positions republicans have taken over the last thirty years there's really not a whole lot of difference between the two parties, except for the socially conservative pet issues of the GOP christian right. Fuck Chic-fil-A, Hobby Lobby, Phil Robertson, and the rest of the American Taliban, until the far right understands that everyone deserves the same rights they enjoy they're going to keep losing support. Republicans have no choice but to run another John McCain or Mitt Romney and by the time that kind of candidate emerges from the primaries, covered in blood of his or her Tea Party colleagues, that candidate will be unelectable in a general election.

And as for Ace Boobtoucher taking exception to pretty much everything Obama has done in office, I still appreciate the glaring lack of specifics, of course I don't really expect any coherent response, it would merely be something parroted from some far right media outlet, and as I've already covered, their opinions don't mean shit.

Present-day congressional leaders like Reid, Boehner, McConnell and Pelosi are supposed to find ways to get things done. Instead, they refuse to compromise and constantly blame the other side for their refusal to act. This is the core of the problem. As Barry Goldwater so eloquently stated back in the '60s, politics is the very art of compromise. Obama's inability to be the catalyst to make things happen (after all, he's the president....the buck stops on his desk) is largely responsible for the gridlock mess we have now. Much like Carter, who was an ineffective president who had only the best of intentions, Obama seems to share the same traits. His leadership skills are lacking and his deficiencies in encouraging a spirit of cooperation and compromise between differing factions has only led to increased polarization not only between the two major parties, but within the very fabric of the American people....all this in spite of the fact that he is extremely intelligent, communicates extremely well (perhaps the greatest orator of the present generation) and is very effective at creating enthusiasm from those who so ardently follow him. Unfortunately, these positive characteristics don't translate to those who would be philosophically opposed to him and extreme outgrowths like the teaparty movement have manifested themselves in the past few years as a reactionary response. Not exactly the type of gravitation you'd like to see from the "loyal opposition".

Regardless of who is elected president in 2016, they will have a helluva problem trying to close this present divide. Obama is not the worst president since WW2 but the shame of it comes from the fact that he had the opportunity to be one of the greatest and he blew it....big time. "Yes We Can" is now "No We Didn't" and that's the real tragedy in this whole thing. He can blame whomever he wishes but the fault lies primarily with him I am afraid.

I wonder how Clinton never had to dealt with the same problem Obama is facing now. Maybe because of his third way strategy? :dunno:

'cause in the '90 the Tea Party didn't even existed and today, they've taken over what was once called the Republican Party...

Despite Newt Gingrich and the : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contract_with_America that was the basis of their platform in 1994 as the GOP took back the house, he knew that compromise is a must to get things done in DC.

Same with Tip O'Neill and Ronald Reagan.

Today is toxic because outside sources (Grover Norquist and Kochsuckers Bros.) will fund people only who won't compromise and push their platform (The TEA Party) 100 % without waiver. Cantor just found this out.

When Georges W Bush was in office, it was said he was the worst president ever, now that Barrack Obama is in office, he's said to be the worst. I guess when the next president will be in office he -or she- will be said to be the worst...

The two US presidents with the highest rate approvals post WWII were Reagan and Clinton.

I'm just gonna put it out there that the topic at hand is "post world war II," Grand Master.

So according to that Harry Truman sucked. Who else knew this?

the worst US President IMO was Woodrow Wilson because he signed the Federal Reserve Act of 1913

Disagree.

Wilson advised Congress not to ratified Treaty of Versailles which they did not. Wilson seen the demands that the British and French put on the Germans would lead to another world war which was spot on starting in 1939.

Not me I guess, I consider Truman one of the better presidents. Marshal Plan, Truman Doctrine ( it worked sort of, though got us into a lot of conflicts after him) Desegregated the armed forces. His big fuck up was to push north of the 38th parallel instead of stopping. Korea could of ended in 1950 instead of 1953 and getting the Chinese involved.

Truth is, Truman was quite unpopular as the Korean conflict was in full swing. His philosophical disagreements with MacArthur regarding going past the Yalu over fear of drawing Russia into the fray made him quite the pariah at the end of his only full term as president. Was it the right decision? In view of China's emergence as a world power that is in the process of threatening to pass the USA, one could make a strong argument that he erred in his policy. We've been continuously involved in wars of stalemate ever since.

My point was, however, that Georges' contention that Reagan and Clinton were the two presidents that enjoyed the highest favorability rating since WWII is inherently untrue, as are most of the contentions that he makes in my considered opinion.

Oh I got the point about Georges. :) But it also illustrated a point about popular opinion and actual historians. Truman was unpopular in his time, and isn't to well known to the general populace, yet historians have changed their opinion of him over the years and rank him far better than they used to. We won't really know how bad Bush/Obama rate until a couple of decades have passed. For instance I was never a fan of Reagan while he was in office, but seeing the results of decisions decades later? He was the great satan.

Huge debt for no reason, as many economists now realize the Soviets would have collapsed without our increased spending. Supporting many dictators to prevent the spread of communism has come back to haunt us, as many of the people who hate us were subjects of those dictators. Escalating the never ending drug war resulted in further destabilizing Central and South America. Large cuts to mental health care caused the system to be strained even further.

He created short term profit for massive long term costs that we are still paying for. He sacrificed future generations' prosperity to let the people of the 80's live high on the hog.

Sometimes I feel bad for the Reagan family. i get over it quickly though. I firmly believe Reagan was mentally out of it for a while during his tenure. The minions behind the scenes propped up the puppet and did what they wanted to create maximum profit for themselves. Reagan would wave a flag and the easily manipulated would flock around him. How can things be bad if the stock market is doing so well?

It may just be me, but I find Pelosi to be dumb as a stump. Btw, Good post.

^This is why people should never post while high.

How about significantly lubricated by Gentleman Jack on the rocks? Started off by having one by the fire with a nice cigar and then...well, you know how things happen...

I guess you're right.

I saw this a year ago on wiki, do search with the name of clinton and reagan in wiki and it will say you the same as I wrote

LOL...actually had several student do this. I can understand the urge, but its not a good way to get a passing grade.

There is a practice that I failed miserably in attempting here a few years back of setting the bar with knowledge on a topic to be able to participate in the discussion. The practice is acceptable in certain circumstances (Where you really need to have some understanding so as not to waste people's time), but not citing sources on papers and when posting facts on an Internet discussion board is bad form.
