You are getting your fair representation in the house. As someone said earlier, you elect your congressman depending upon what they bring home to your district. A Detroit congressman should put public programs as their priority. It's those people that elected him to help with their situations. In so much as the rural congressmen needs to keep farms up and running in bad times. The USA is 80/20 urban. You can't say fuck you to the farmers just because you have more people living in cities. These rural areas also have land that is mined and hunted and camped and passageways between urban areas. These areas should (and do have) their voices on the hill. If Utah wants polygamist families, shouldn't they have them? If so, shouldn't all states recognize them?
 
I assure you that the 38 million very culturally diverse people in california are not represented as much as the 600,000 people in North Dakota who are 93% white 4% American Indian and about 1/2% black

a congressman has nowhere near the clout that a Senator has.

They need to get rid of the electoral college and increase the number of senators based on state's population. when the government was created it was not designed for the current imbalance of population.
 
Yes it was designed for their current and future imbalances. That's why they borrowed that 2 house system from the Brits. And if you want a representation purely based on population areas, well we have that in the house. You want to get rid of senators? Change the constitution? Get 2/3 of both houses or 2/3 of the states to bring it up for a vote. That's 2 of every 3 states. If any party can pull down 2/3 of both houses then go for it. Every state gets 1 vote now. The final stage is 3/4 of the states casting 1 vote.

That's the process. Do you want to change that too because you don't like it? Tough ****. Move or keep on bitching about what you don't like. Edit: Sorry about the outburst. I know you have a good heart and do for people as well as advocate for them. That's not my perception of you. But as far as the laws, rights, state's rights, and procedures as laid out, I have to go with what was set up back then. This was a new country with some some pretty smart people think this thing through. 50-50 splits shouldn't change anything. In racing the people's choice only finish first 1/3 of the time. We can't have all of this nation's policies dictated by where people live. Or what the latest polls show.

Here in NJ Newark Mayor Corry Booker(Dem.) won by over 10. I'm glad. Sure he inherited the Barclay's rejuvenation program. I'll back him for the other **** he has done. Taking on Newark at the time when he did. People are now coming there. I know. I had to wait there at the site of the Barclay's when it was a motel. Had to take a bus to Newark Penn to get home. Not pleasant or safe in the least.

That he claimed to be a billionaire for years and never was? That guy is an overwhelming piece of **** to the extreme. to say you are happy to be aligned with him says volumes about you and your actual knowledge of the US. He's a punchline.

You are jaleous of people who inherit money? What would it be if you inherited money, you wouldn't be proud of it? No? Don't lie to me because I know you will be proud of it. How one made his fortune is his business not anyone else's business. Because Nancy the Cunt Pelosi and the Clinton bitch aren't fucking pieces of ****? You pass them for angels, right? Im jealous? hardly. but when someone inherits it and doesnt earn it I dont respect them like I do someone like Marc Cuban who is an actual businessman and started with nothing. He earned his money with ideas and ambition.

The right will never act sensible they are about control and control only. They want to control you financially, the want to control you religiously, and they want to make you a pawn to their machine. They do not care how they get to that point and they don't care who they hurt. I am convinced that they have turned into a facist orginazation and that is a very dangerous thing.
 
What you are failing to see is the necessity to preserve states powers. The same powers that give little and big ones the same rights. Rights to write their own laws. Collect their own taxes. Spend them as they see fit. The same rights granted to Montana and California. You can't have the masses to dictate everything for everybody. Speed limits, *** laws, minimum wage. All things that are better regulated by those living in those individually governed states.

On a personal note, what do I like to do most? Bet on a *****. Considering that less than half of you have ever bet on a ***** at a racetrack more than once, and probably don't care one way or the another if anyone else does, it is ******* for me to do so in 11 states. I can participate in their charital games. Commercial, lotteries and Indian gaming. I just can't bet a fucking *****. No pari-mutuals and no racetracks. ****, only half of the states race anything at all. That being said, why can't I bet on a ***** in all of those NASCAR states. Yup, here is the list.

Mississippi.
Missouri.
District of Columbia.
Alaska. (they get a pass on the horses but I'll bet that plenty of dollars get exchanged on dog sled ****.)
Georgia.
Hawaii. (not Dixie but still deserve their fair pass.)
North Carolina.
South Carolina.
Tennessee.
Utah. NASCAR and you can marry as many as you want.
Vermont. They are still chasing out witches.

So as we can see, the masses don't give a rat's ass. Just because the masses are not of me, shouldn't I be able to bet a ***** in any state?
 
But we aren't talking about more congressmen who affect state laws. state laws wouldn't change because of more representation in the senate. if a state like california has 38 million people, most of which are democrat, has the same representation as mississippi which is very poor and republican then how is that fair for those 38 million people who could possibly be required to the laws of the religious right that they do not agree with? there shouldn't be laws that impose on their beliefs. just as BC crows about how the republicans took the house, it's about districts and gerrymandering.
 
You are so close to the understanding. California has their people to represent them in their home state. Let them legislate as they do wish. That is the right of their home state. That's the representation of their people. If you want all states to abide by your state laws then that has to be brought up to each individual state. 2 votes per state. Larger states should not legislate for other states. Let's take the *** laws in Texas. It's a big state with lots of people. Most concentrated in cities but a large number rural citizens. Let them manage their own *** laws and not manage anyone's others. Let them push their policies to branch out but Illinois doesn't have to follow. Or Connecticut, or NJ, or California. That shouldn't be a national policy even if other rural, *** toting, yay hoo states agree with it. Not everything is a national issue. Your fishing regulations in Florida and those in Mississippi or SD don't have to jive. These are different places. So is California fishing laws. The masses don't have a clue what is the best for all. 2/3 finish in the money but only 1/3 actually win. Bet every favorite and you are a guaranteed loser.
 
I dont agree. I think that a state with 38 million should have more say in government than a state with 400,000. popular is a word that means what it means for a reason. as of now there are many federal laws that are held up because of bullshit redneck states blocking them.
 
By your model there is no autonomy for the states to conduct their own business. In that case there is no need to have states at all. Everything will be governed at the federal level. That was not the purpose of the constitution. It is a document that limits the powers of the fed. By the same token each state limits their powers over municipalities. It's an extention of stay out of my personal business as long as I don't hurt anybody.

Do you know that Bergan County and Paramus NJ still have blue laws? One of the largest and most popular commercial shopping cores of the New York metropolitan area is almost completely closed on Sundays. Call it stupid but the citizens of these places vote to keep them. That's their choice. Not the choice of those that want to shop but don't live there. Should NYC make them open because they are the largest block of shoppers there? By your model they would have a vote.
