If this guy is a terrorist, then how come he's not in prison for the rest of his life? in fact, he's never even been charged with any crime. the most that you can accuse this guy of is committing petty acts of vandalism. While you may not approve of his methods, his message- trying to protest and raise awareness against the Vietnam war, is one that I applaud. I wish that we had more politicians that were concerned about more issues than just thier wallets.
People seem to forget that Obama is a senator from Illinois and a community organizer. why would he refuse to attend events coordinated to his position and involvement in the city council simply because Ayers was also in attendance under the same function? The two are shown to have attended the same meetings, that is hardly grounds to assume that they are close friends much less scheming to plot terrorist activities.
I'm not really an Obama supporter, but these attacks are severely misguided and nonfactual. I feel the need to defend him, not for his sake, but for the sake of truth and responsibility.

I've never seen a disgusting way of protesting actually produce anything "righteous."
If anything, it only hurt more innocent people in the wrong way.

Protesting the wrong way, combined with ignorance and a mob, is a very bad thing.
It actually produces results far worse than what they are trying to prevent.
Not so coincidentally, celebrities are often at the heart of it all.
People from the most racist and sexist industry without an ounce of economics or science in their background.

I disagree. Once again, you may not approve of people actions- I certainly don't of Fonda's- but it's just a matter of effective action. You can do things to further your cause, and people will approve of them or not, or else you can protest "the appropriate way" and no one will listen to you and you won't accomplish anything.

It is not a question of being wishful or not, it is a matter of being realistic. I am more pessimist than optimist, I prefer to be too down to earth than not. Remember what happened to jfk, this is just as a reminder. There are people who dispise him. I don't like his political ideas because for me they are too socialistic, plus his friends are not really that respectable. Do you think by being supported by someone like Ayers, Khalidi or Farrakhan is a sign of being a respectable man????

Ayers did bomb the capital and the pentagon, police stations and other government buildings. He was charged, tried and got off on a technicality about illegal wiretaps. He's since admitted what he's done and said he wished he did more.
His bombings didn't work, he got busted so he started an "educational fund", but it seems he was mostly using the funds for educating radicalism.

In all seriousness georges, I think you want him to be a bad person because you disagree so strongly with his ideas. OR you see a hint of a connection to these people and you assume he MUST be as bad as they were (specifically Ayers) at their worst.
I refuse to condemn people by association. To do otherwise is to turn the clocks back to that horrible period of McCarthyism in the 1950's.
