Amazing comeback by the Bruins, too bad the Caps didn't have the same determination. Hopefully the Bruins keep it going as I also hate the Rangers.

6/8. One wrong in each conference. Revised picks:

Chicago over Detroit in 6
Los Angeles over San Jose in 7 (the Sharks proved to me that they're much better than I thought they were)

Pittsburgh over Ottawa in 7 (this is gonna be a hell of a series)
New York Rangers over Boston in 5

And my Cup picks are still alive, so I will stick to Kings over Rangers for the Cup.

The Facebook reaction to the Boston/Toronto game was amazing. People I know who don't even watch hockey were cheering for the Leafs and then in five minutes it all went to hell. I don't know if I have ever seen a playoff collapse occur that fast in my life but that was simply painful to watch. I'm surprised all the fans in Maple Leaf Square didn't riot.

Got 5/8 thanks to totally calling the Rangers winning. Missed one in the East but didn't do so hot in the West. Whatever.

Chicago over Detroit in five (After the first round I reluctantly admit that Chicago might be that good)
Los Angeles over San Jose in six (I want want want want want want the Sharks to win this series, but I don't know if they can)

Pittsburgh over Ottawa in six (The Pens will win as long as they at least show up for the goaltending duel. If Fleury/Voukoun don't come to play Ottawa could possibly steal it if Anderson is on top of his game)
Boston over New York in six (I think Boston is the better team. Rangers won't benefit from weak goaltending here)

(I guess I also predicted it would be the Rangers over the Blackhawks in the Finals this year. Guess I don't believe my own prediction it seems)

We should be sitting in a bar together tonight, drinking something excellent to spite our teams' lack of excellence.

Tell me where and when. I am so sick of hearing "we're so close".

Leafs fans are probably on suicide watch today.

Caps are the Eastern Conference version of the Blues.

I love hockey but man it SUCKS sometimes.

Chicago over Detroit in 7 (However, I think if there is an upset to be had in this round a rivalry like the Wings vs. Hawks could produce it)

LA over SJ in 5 (LA is feelin it again and the sharks played a one dimensional Canucks team with shaky goaltending, not that (the Nucks goalies) are not solid, they just
had no confidence and were not effective this year to keep the Nucks in games, and I think LA already beat a Blues team that is better than the Sharks are.)

Pittsburgh over Ottawa in 7 (Unless the Pens goaltending is not up too par I think this is gonna be a great test for each team)

Boston over NYR in 6 (Boston's size and toughness wears the rangers down, I think Boston is just better, King Henry would have to be flawless and spectacular the whole series and I don't think it will happen)

LA over Pittsburgh / Boston (I can't decide if the Bruins or Pens would win a series against one another at this point, if they end up playing I'll decide who will win based on how each team plays in they're 2nd round series)

My round 1 record was 6/8. I was a bit disappointed with game 7 losses by the Ducks and Caps but thrilled with the Bruins epic comeback.

Blackhawks 5
Kings 6
Penguins 7
Bruins 7

That game Bos/Tor was shown here in ohio where i'm at and what a game. Can't believe that Toronto lost with a 3 goal lead with what.......11 minutes to go or so. Being a Leaf fan today will not be fun and a long summer it's gonna be. The closest team here for me are the Columbus Blue Jackets and they came up just short too but in a different way.

Was able to see the Maple Leafs in old Maple Leaf Gardens way back when. I remember a playoff series against the Red Wings and the Leafs won forcing another game and the headline in the newspaper the very next morning read....'' LEAFS REFUSE TO DIE'' !......so in a way i would have liked to have seen Toronto win, especially on the raod with playoff atmosphere and a Game 7 at that ! Give Boston credit, they did what they had to do. Wonder how many fans had left the Garden when it was 4-1 ? And how many tried to get back in ha ?

I'd like to see the Rangers win. I can still remember Mark Messier holding up that trophy and the feeling he had as he lifted it back in 1994 when they played Vancouver. I was at work and listened to it on the radio and got home in time for the third period. ! Always wanted to attend a Rangers game in Madison Square Garden...maybe one day.

7/8 isn't that bad. I thought it was going to be 6/8 until the Bruins pushed forward and won it.

Even though I'm rooting for the Red Wings, I think the Blackhawks will take it.

Blackhawks in 6, I just hope they don't sweep the Red Wings.
Sharks in 6, sorry boys, no repeats this year, Sharks are too big and fast for the Kings, plus their talent is unmatched by the kings
Penguins in 6
Rangers in 6

My prediction for the Stanley Cup finals is the Blackhawks vs Penguins.

Western Conference
Chicago Black Hawks in 5
St. Louis Blues in 7 nope
Detroit in 6 (boo)
Vancouver in 6 nope

Eastern Conference
Pittsburgh in 5
Toronto in 7 (hope hope hope hope hope hope) fucksticks
Montreal in 6 nope
Rangers in 7

4/8. I'm awesome.

New predictions:
Chicago
San Jose
Pittsburgh
New York Rangers

It was very, very close to the outcome being the 1, 5, 6 and 7 seeds in both conferences, but because of Boston's win over Toronto, the east is 1, 4, 6 and 7.

It sounds horrific to me but I am quite accustomed to horror when it comes to hockey so I can certainly take it.

I'm accustomed to horror when it comes to baseball, football, and now basketball has become a nightmare. It's nice to have one team I can be proud of.

PLEASE GOD NO!!!!!!!!!!! the non-stop gloating from nyr fans will be like they won 100 cups in a row...problem is they only won 1 in most of those fans lives. they will be as annoying as yankees fans who always talk about 25,26...27? world championships....yet those NYY fans (most)have only seen stuff from 1996-present.
any titles for teams before you were born shouldn't count when you argue fandom.
Fucking rangers fans don't realize the devils ...The Devils have been to and LOST more cup finals that the rangers have been to in the last 33 years!!!!

The yankees 96 to present are still pretty impressive.

I think Chicago secretly put out a fresh team in the third. Detroit didn't know what to do.

That's the same with all fans.

If the Canucks win the Cup the fans will act like all other playoff loses were flukes and how the team was always the best.
If the Blackhawks win the Cup the fans will act like they never abandoned the team during the 90s-00s and were always the best market in the league.
If the Penguins win the Cup the fans will act like they were only loaning it to other teams so they could feel better about not having Crosby on their team.
If Reimer makes a single save for the Leafs the fans will act like they've won the Cup.

All fanbases are full of twats. The only fanbase I can think of that would benefit from a Cup win is Edmonton just because it would let them move on from thinking about Gretzky and the glory days (plus Calgary would probably explode in rage).

and i'm not saying the NYY from 96-present aren't... but i know people who watched every game for season after season in the 80's to slightly early 90's and those teams were terrible. that is a true fan- most NYY fans don't know the team before Jeter.

Wow, Detroit got spanked.

Yeah, interesting game. I actually thought the Wings had a shot until they started the 3rd period. Chicago is one of those teams that seems to have the ability to flip a switch and go into another gear. I don't see anyone in either conference beating them. LA would be the only team from my perspective since their physicality might overwhelm the Hawks and their goaltender is playing like Patrick Roy. Otherwise, nobody else (including Pittsburgh) comes close.
