but, as long as Ovechkin is on the ice, i'll keep watching the caps... He's one of my favorite athletes in any sport and being able to at least see him skate on the ice is always a pleasure.... even if he does suck this year

Wooooow. Anybody see that Crombley/Renaldi? fight in the Tampa/Philly game? Might be a suspension. Renaldi or whatever his name is ko'd after Crombley was already down and out.

Lecavalier returned the favor to Talbot at the end of their fight too. I doubt either Rinaldo or Lecavalier will be suspended.

The Blues totally SUCKED last night. What does it tell you when you outshoot the other team 32-19 and lose 6-1? Our rusty goaltending better find some WD-40 in a hurry. Hopefully that was just one of those games because we were terrible. Hats off to the Preds. Their backchecking was relentless and we could never keep any sustained pressure in their zone. It was 1-and-out all night.

I agree with you 100% that no one will be suspended, but Zac Rinaldo should be suspended (or at least fined) for punching B.J. Crombeen both after he was knocked out (or at least severely dazed) and while he was on his way down to the ice. As Martin St. Louis said to Danny Briere on the ice (which Pierre McGuire reported during the broadcast), that goes against the code; you don't hit a guy after you've knocked him out/once he's on his way down/on his back on the ice. That's cowardly and dangerous. Zac Rinaldo should be ashamed of himself.

What kind of message does that send if this isn't a suspendable offence? A pretty dangerous one, in my opinion...

Ugh.. I don't think he should get suspended for that, I watched after you mentioned it, I do however think that, that's low class fighting, very poor sportsmanship, I remember watching some of the true heavyweights like Probie, Kocur, Mack, and after a guy was down or was on the ice, guys like that could've landed some devastatingly damaging punches when the other guy was basically helpless but they never did, they would stop throwing punches if a guy was down or the refs had a hold of em' like most true fighters with any class would let up if a guy was helpless, they used to have a code amongst fighters that they wouldn't try and kill a guy if he was helpless, renaldi or whatever the fuck that :dickhead: name is, needs his ass kicked severely by somebody for taking liberties with a lightweight.. one of these days he'll get his ass handed to him and then he'll learn his lesson. :2 cents:

I haven't watched the fight yet, but was there a possibility of "bad blood"? Usually when someone keeps throwing when someone's on their way down, its out of real hatred, not just trying to get their team/crowd pumped. Rinaldo's a relatively young guy though, isn't he?

Yes, there's plenty of bad blood between the Flyers and Lightning. Rinaldo is 22 years old. I don't agree with the late cheap shot he gave to Crombeen nor do I agree with the late cheap shot Lecavalier gave Talbot in their scrap.

It's obvious if you watched the fight that Crombeen is bigger than Rinaldo. According to their Hockey News bios, "lightweight" Crombeen is 6'2" and 210 lbs while big bad Rinaldo is 5'11'' and 169 lbs.

I didn't mean the guy was small, I was saying lightweight in regards to "not much of a Fighter" I am not familiar with the EAST teams I don't know the Flyers player, I've heard the name Crombeen but had no fuckin clue about the guy. and maybe its naïve of me to label Crombeen since I don't know jack-shit about him, so I wasn't referring to his actual stature it was more of a reference too a guy who shouldn't be fighting if he's gonna get his ass handed to him. :2 cents:

The islanders love goalies.

How does this trade make sense? Boston's gm is making a living punking people. First Toronto, Minnesota and now this?

Chicago is laying the wood to Phoenix right now. It's sad to watch.

Actual footage from Phoenix.

Blackhawks 6, Coyotes 2.
Hawks improve their record to 9-0-2

That early fight between Jamal Mayers and Raffi Torres seemed to set the tone for the in-the-net ass kicking to follow.

Chicago is unreasonably good this year. I initially though the Blues were the team to watch in the West this season, but Chicago is crazy.

The Blues are suddenly a mess. I can't explain it. Neither can Hitchcock I'm afraid. Outscored 11-2 in the last 2 games. Still early even though the season is short but it looks like the Hawks may run away from everyone. Fortunately, in the NHL, all you have to do is make the playoffs to be a serious challenger for the Cup.

In other news, this just in from the "So NOW you tell me" department:

The National Hockey League rescinded the match penalty assessed to St. Louis Blues forward David Backes in the game Friday night against the Detroit Red Wings.

Backes received a match penalty for an illegal hit to the head of Detroit's Kent Huskins at 9:38 of the third period. Replays appeared to indicate that no contact to Huskins' head was made.

Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk scored the game-winning goal on the ensuing five-minute power play in an eventual 5-3 victory.

Minnesota? What are you talking about, Khudobin?

It makes sense for Boston because we don't want his crazy ass anymore and we get shitloads of cap space (obviously). It works for NY because Thomas won't play (so they'll retain their 2nd rounder) and the get help reaching the cap floor.

Thomas is just happy he doesn't have to leave his bunker.

Good lord, I wish he'd never opened his fucking mouth. I mean, everyone's entitled to their opinions, but everybody loved him and his story. Then he started talking crazy-ass shit all over the place. Thank god for Tuukka.
