Will there be this big huge fucking ASTERISK next to the Stanley Cup Winner this year? You know, something along the lines of "These fuckers only played 1/3 of a season." I really hope the Blues do not win it this year. What a shit-stain of a Stanley Cup to be known for..... freaking minuscule season.

Unless a team that won the cup recently wins, people will probably try to discredit this years winner.

Toronto wins? Fluke season.

Chicago wins? They probably would have won anyway.

It's the 1994-95 season all over again. Be interesting if New Jersey won, Brodeur could literally go out on top.

However as a long time and generally stubborn Penguins fan living in Canada they are the team I root for.

Hasn't led to too many random beat downs so far so, yay me?

Detroit certainly didn't look as pitiful as they did Jan. 19. and aside from 1 really bad call, the Blues didn't dominate like they did the 1st night of the season, they didn't have 4 break away goals. I was a bit hostile and mistaken about the quality of our team this year, DEFENSE is definitely a work in progress with the loss of Lidstrom and Stuart, but its sort of mending with time despite all the injuries, their not a as pathetic as they appeared to be on the 1st night. Are they as good as the Blues this year, prolly not, but when you have Datsyuk, Z.berg and some other good talent there not as piss poor as some of the other teams in the league. The Blues look good, but there hitch (no pun intended) has always been the way they play in the playoffs, so until they win something they can be just like the Sharks a good team that doesn't ever put it all together when it counts. :2 cents:

I would agree with everything you said. The Blues have never won anything and they certainly aren't 6 goals better than ANY NHL team, much less a talented squad like the Red Wings. You should always be proud to be a Red Wing fan. There's an old Crow Indian saying that goes something like "A man is judged by how mighty his enemies be". As a Blues fan, I'm proud to call the Red Wings my enemy. ;)

There's no asterisk on the '95 Cup that the Devils won so I'd be damned proud of whoever wins a sprint of 48 games in 99 days and then wins the Cup. If that team be the Blues, I'd be extremely proud. There's no stain. NHL regular season is too long anyway if you ask me.

Anyone who suggests the Stanley Cup winner this year is a fluke is crazy. Last I checked, the winner will still have to win 4 playoff series. Getting in may be fluky, but winning it all certainly won't be,

It's actually half a season, and frankly it'll be VERY impressive, considering there was only 6 days of training camp. I actually think whoever wins the cup during this season should be extra proud of themselves.

Agreed!

Agreed as well!

True. If anything, it's a much tougher season considering the schedules. There was little team practice and preparation time and they are pushed into a very hectic and grueling schedule with less off time between games. Little to no time to heal up or rest, the results of which are already showing. The blood is barely drying before they are skating onto the next game. Whoever wins the championship deserves it. Sure doesn't look like a throw away season to me.

Man, what's happened to Ovechkin? Needs a change of scenery?

That was a tough thing to watch, even though I'm not a Captials fan. I know Pittsburgh has been improving over these last few games, getting back on track, but Washington really made them look better than they probably are. After Vokoun made that rookie behind-the-net move, allowing Washington's 2nd goal, it felt like the game was turning in the Caps favor, but the Penguins made it look easy for the rest of the game. I see these two teams play again on thursday, in Pittsburgh.

with no more football.. Looks like I'm stuck with watching the Capitals lose.... This season so far has been so tough to watch, but I'm not giving up yet

The problem is that our coach is a dumbass... He's trying to spread out the talent by putting Nicklas Backstrom and Ovechkin on separate lines, but it doesn't work like that... They both need to be on the same line because that's when there chemistry is unstoppable and we can start winning some games.. I see it whenever there's a power play, they both are on the ice together and you can just see everything about their game improve.... Why can't the caps just get a solid head coach, Dale Hunter was great but he hated coaching.. :brick:
